I’d first recommend a desktop. But for laptops, the new MacBooks. You’re going to have a terrible time editing 4K video, even with proxies, on a PC laptop without an external graphics card. I’ve run into this problem in the past, even with the best equipped one I could find. 1080 seems to be fine. I’m not saying it can’t be done, just that the new Macs with the new chipset seem to handle this better IMO. Which MacBook? Easy answer. You’re editing video, so as expensive as you can afford.
