This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my UA-cam channel 8 months ago about self development. Now I have 871 subs and > 500 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

@@lauriexwang Whoever you are, I don't know you personally but I can say that you're one of the non-judgmental and open-minded people who is not fixated on tangible or external factors in order to learn from someone like me. Just because someone doesn't have a piece of paper as a credential, doesn't mean that person is not entitled to share personal experiences with the hope & intention to inspire others. Keep up with whatever it is that you're doing to improve mankind or improving your life even to a slight degree each day. This is just one part of a bigger puzzle for creating my UA-cam channel about holistic health. I literally could have died back when I was 14 years old due to major depression but here I am right now replying to you, a UA-camr, who's full of fulfillment and dedication to help others to be a better version of themselves. I ain't better than anyone else but my old self. That's all that really makes this UA-cam thing more meaningful and enjoyable. Thanks so much for your support! Implementing the lessons I learned throughout the years of lots of trials and errors changed my life trajectory and learning that there’s a yin and yang in everything. I wouldn’t have appreciated the power of kindness if someone was not cruel to me. I wouldn’t have realized the importance of growth if I didn’t see myself stagnating. I wouldn’t have appreciated the importance of health if I didn’t get sick. I wouldn’t have realized the importance of real love if I haven’t witnessed my parents’ relationship slowly fall apart. I wouldn’t have appreciated the importance of mindful money consumption if I wasn’t broke. I wouldn’t have appreciated the growth of my UA-cam channel if I didn’t start at 0.

The first video I watched from your channel and I am already hooked. I’m trying to get more into digital marketing this year and not just only making content and just dealing with social media when it surrounds just posting.

Could you make a video on a digital marketing project from start to finish and not just focusing on likes and mentions and shares but other things that companies are looking for and want you to demonstrate improve that you actually know how to do laissez market research on young people buying homes for example, where would you start? Where would you look or it can be any example I’m just trying to see what these big companies are looking for when you go on the interview and what type of projects do we happen to work on?

It's never too late to switch careers and at 50 I think you are just getting started! Get started with beginner series on this channel and build up your knowledge with the key publications like AdWeek, Marketing School podcast etc. to get up to speed with the latest technology and updates. It's all about staying relevant in this fast growing industry, places likes AI/Metaverse, Web3 are all great areas to get more ahead of the curve and be the top of the industry. @lauriexwang what would be your advice to someone thinking of signing up for a digital marketing certificate program? Are they beneficial? Will the completion of a certificate program alone set you up for decent jobs or does one need a 4 year marketing degree? Thanks for any info
I think the key is to learn from the latest in the industry, and especially from someone who practices the tactics and strategies daily. So if you can check that the certificate program fits in this criteria. I think a marketing degree definitely helps but it's not required, I didn't have a marketing degree but studied economics instead, the ability to be adaptable and think creatively is more important to employers, so make sure to highlight that in your applications. Hey! Such a great question, I get asked this a lot and it's similar to how I transitioned from the financial industry. What I would like to share in this journey is that real-world experience is just as important as a degree and if you can get that experience as early as possible, and build relationships in the industry by going to events, talking to current marketers, informational interviews, are all going to help you build a career in this area.
