Steffi generates the power in her forehand from her motion. I remember how commentators use to say that she had this circular motion in her forehand shots, from how she brought the racket back, and that was not how tennis players were taught to hit the shot in those days, which was just bringing the racket head straight back and hitting through the shot. Later on though, tennis coaches realized it was the way Steffi hit the shot that helped generate the power and they started teaching other players to change their motion because of Steffi. If you watch tennis players now, they are taught to hit forehands with a larger arc in their back swing to generate more power in the momentum through the shot. To see what I'm saying, watch clips of how people like Chris Evert, Pam Shriver and other players from that era hit their forehands and compare it to Steffi's swing. Then watch how players hit their forehands today compared to Steffi, e.g. the likes of people like Serena, Vika and Petra Kvitova who have big forehands. I didn't realize it at the time when I was learning to play tennis back in the late 80s, but I adopted a swing like Steffi's, I guess because she was my idol and I watched her play so much it became a subconscious thing I did. When I took some coaching lessons, the coach I had then tried to correct my swing because he said that the circular arc I was using meant I was taking longer with my swing and to him that meant I wasn't hitting through the shot cleanly as was taught at the time. I never did correct my forehand swing no matter how many times I was told because it felt completely natural for me to hit it with this circular wind up when I brought the racket head back.
The pros get restrings for free though. I like taking full cuts but 2 sessions later they are flying over the baseline. Perhaps it's time to learn to string by myself.
@MisterSinnister I would love to accidentally RUN into Andre and Steffi again! It was such a treat! Was totally shocked to watch her hit a top spin backhand!
To be fair, the game changed a lot in ways that help players like Andre. Slower courts, heavier balls, and luxilon strings made the serve and volley game much more difficult today.
I was looking at videos of evert, graf, et al in the '80s and all of the were super slim and muscular. Now, ladies tennis is filled with fat players. Carbohydrate fuelling maybe? Yes, carbs will help in athletic performance but will wreak havoc on a person's physique.

Bjorn Borg was using that loop in the 70s pal
My backhand waa my forte which was one handed, just guided through my stroke by other hand.
Bloody hell....
Steffi Graf is a excellent Tennis player. Many game of her I am seen.
Awesomely serendipitous post with cool commentary, nice going guys!
That guy is lucky to be hitting with my two favorite tennis players of all time.

I just saw her on Saturday at the Thomas & Mack, she's amazing.
Her topspin backhand is so powerful and penetrating. She should use it more in her career.
And her forehand is amazingly great as usual.
Graf could show the heifers that pose as tennis players on the WTA tour these days what footwork is cause God knows they need it!
Awesome!!! She still has it!!!!
"She's like, 'OK, the gays wanna see the slice.'" Lol
Funny how Sampras was more successful as a player but Agassi became the template for everything that has followed so far.
U mean like Federer is the polar opposite and is the most admired player ever tio have played ?
@@peterphilstacey4698 You mean Federer, the anomaly in an era of baseliners?

Great video. Steffi hitting the ball as well as ever!
Steffi is the goddess of tennis. I dont care about some other power horses that won titles later (one more GS)
…but one Golden Slam less.
That guy on the right side court must have tons of courage, if it was me i would probably freak out.
"Okay, the gays want to see the slice." Lol ! xD
She's like "Okay, the gays want to see the slice..." lol love it.
so did the guy win some contest to get to hit with two of the greatest to ever play tennis?
who are they hitting with? when was this?
Is she returning to professional tennis? My dream should come true
@vosharap definitely amazing!
That girl in pink looks good. If she practices hard she could go far :p
@messypoo1349 They were hitting with the local pro there!
I think it's cool that they still just enjoy hitting after all they've accomplished in the sport.
I was there once, nice thing about Vegas. It'd be a dream hitting with them.

I wished this footage was from 2023. Steffi & Andre need to grace the court now. That stupid pickle ball is sucking up space and time.
thats you hitting the ball against 30 GS xd
The other guy is Sampras? His playing style looks like it.
multi io he does indeed look like Pete, that posture and stroke form, it's too similar

My brother plays 4.0. Come on that's just above beginner....LOL
El mejor drivers femenino Steffi Graf
Never seen Andrè during his career standing so far away from the baseline.. He really got old.
