This video is inspirational for players who want to learn the correct footwork in tennis especially women's tennis, like a dance on the tennis court staying light and balanced.

Steffi Graf, my personal favorite player in WTA history. What an amazing footwork and that forehand 🔥🔥
Her slice backhand is the one I love most ..she's the first I've watched with single hand doing that....every female do it with two hands and the most obvious was she's the most quiet no grunting etc.
Mine too!
@@melalim9842 Navratilova also had a backhand slice, one-handed. If you like slices. I do not. The backhand slice is a "push" shot - 90% of the time its defensive and just meant to get the ball back over the net. When one does not have the courage to take a rip at the ball, as in topspin.
“My favorite shot!” starting at 1:50. Yes we know Steffi 🤩. We, as fans, are so thankful for all the amazing years you gave us watching in awe as you hit your glorious powerful forehand all while moving with such grace, speed and balance on the tennis court.
This up-close practice session is a telltale sign of what Steffi would look like hitting the greatest forehand with a modern racquet. If I’m correct, I think she’s playing with a Head 100 racquet. Very different to her Wilson 95. I wonder what strings she used here because she used natural gut before. Just visualize her playing at her athletic peak (late 80s to mid 90s) with modern day innovations.
😔 ... we can only imagine.
Wow. Great to see that she is still training like a beast. So inspiring
This video is from 2011.
Wow she still has all the shots and movement
Footplay is amazing Steffi
My favorite tennis player of all time. Graceful yet powerful on court. That forehand, that footwork, those one handed shots! Steffi! ❤
graceful???
@@dak6105Steffi is generally been considered having had the most graceful game of all time.
The polar opposite of Seles or S. Williams for instance.
@@carrerau7138 In my consideration, Graf was certainly athletic, and agile and lithe, but graceful -- not so much.
@@dap777754 If you were to make a poll about the most graceful top player of all time Steffi would get more than 80 %.
Heck, probably even more than 90 %.
@@carrerau7138 Just my opinion - your poll would capture name recognition, plus the fact Steffi was blond and somewhat pretty. Sabatini and Henin are just 2 players who IMO were actually "graceful." Graf's strokes were certainly not graceful, not at all.
I love how she hugs the baseline. ❤️
legend of the game! Devastating forehand angles and best slice ever
Her down the line shots are fantastic
Steffi has the best footwork of any female tennis player in the history of tennis...she would absolutely be able to go toe to toe with Serena despite them being from different eras....Graf's slice backhand and off forehand would easily counter the power tennis of the women's game today
When yyou compare the footwork of Steffi and Serena, if it like to compare an elephant with a panther /gepard :-) She would have wipe the floor with Serena...
@@stefanthomassen4750 At her peak (long ago) Serena was quite quick. She always reminded me of a hippo, heavy but dangerously fast animals.
Steffi was more the panther/gazelle type.
But surpassed today by Iga. In the footwork dept.
@@dap777754nope Iga didn't surpassed Steffi in terms of footwork. On clay Iga footwork is brilliant but not in other surface especially on fast court like grass.

a good lesson for any player. keep those feet moving.
That Footwork, the video is maybe 10 years old but even today i bet she would get some players a run for the money. Never seen another player with that footwork, she has always been dancing 👍
amazing footwork
Steffi still has it....what an amazing athlete...
Best female tennis player ever better than Serena.
@@pleaseenteraname1103 yeah agree with your sentiments.. Steffi and Serena are such aggressive players... in their primes its very close... both superstars..
@@Tennisfan4Eva Not even close, athletism and speed of Steff have been in another league...
@@pleaseenteraname1103Marion bartoli had belief in herself that Steffi Graff as a great tennis player doesn't have even being world no.1 to win Wimbledon.
Wimbledon is a grass court tournament and therefore amongst the medium surfaces. which means medium rallies dictated by serve and therefore less exertion of energy during a point and shorter matches in general. you get value for your shot! fat and short or tall and thin!
when you play 3 sets against 5 sets for men, it is always an advantage.
Marion Bartoli played a more strategic than a grind type of tennis in tournaments. good volleying skills as compared to Steffi Graff even in execution.
Marion Bartoli had the belief that she could win and in contrast to Steffi Graff who believed that Bartoli would wear herself down and just lose(not that they don't have to play, just that they had to hang in there long enough for her to break down). Most of them slightly underestimated what she was doing in tournaments. She was an inexperienced player by that point who had proven herself as a former top 10 player.
Her winning was really a surprise i.e out of the blue with already having made the finals twice but her consistency was questionable.
She had unique two handed forehands and backhands. That was easy to replicate and master but once mastered it was going to be lethal. That was what spectators saw in tournaments of Marion Bartoli to a great extent.
at Wimbledon 2013 she had some luck from the draw as 15th seed. she never played a top 10 player en route to her victory. the finalist she played: Venus Williams had already beaten Agnieszka Radwańska en route to the final.
Venus Williams was playing her best but was probably worn out a lot by her battles with Agnieszka Radwańska and others. Venus Williams was in the form of her life but Bartoli had the luck of the draw.
Regardless of whether your fat or not, if you make your shots even Steffi Graff may not be able to return it at Wimbledon. so if you are playing near perfection and having consistency with your shots then you are playing on a level field.
then speaking of fat, technically Marion Bartoli may be classified as fat, yet she was the most successful female tennis player.
Bartoli wasn’t really playing a specific style and really had weakness in tournaments and most of her shots had some vigor in it that Steffi Graf generally doesn't necessarily have. Here return games were spot on and had more errors and more importantly she can get Steffi Graff to errors first.
all in all, this was a victory that was easily replicable or Bartoli after this mediocre run. She had belief and luck along with inexperience that allowed her to win her only Grand Slam. Marion Bartoli was dubbed as unfit and fat. She still made it to Grand Slam finals. Even in her Wembdon win 2013 she wasn’t fit. Marion Bartoli is an inspiration.
It was really a fluke because Bartoli won by dropping sets and beat a few top 20 players along the way.
Winning by dropping a set means you played really close to perfection along with dropping the level enough that allowed anyone to comeback and take a set from you.
being fat may seem a hindrance, but is a limitation if you want it to be one.
Honestly calling her fat in tournaments is really justifiable because she wasn’t thin but fat is really appropriate.
And yes, tall and lanky players like Steffi Graf don’t always win , especially in the topsy turvy women’s tour. slightly fatter players can generate more power than extremely thin and tall players like Steffi Graff.
The best. Steffi Graf wonderful forehand and footwork. 🧐
Very special n pure talented..
She still got it!
Amazing. She’s not even puffed!
Best mover of all time?
Absolutely. Heard she could have run the 200m for Germany in the Olympics. That's some serious footspeed.
When she was young I think so. She was unbelievably fast
Can't believe she can still move like this at her age unless this is an old vid. Would love to know the year.
Probably the only female pro tour player who never pants or grunts. Her breathing control is insane for the pace she could move at
@@millsshumps1968 the video should be recorded last year I guess. The German female player Andrea Petkovic made a training session with Steffi in the States. It was mentioned here in Germany in the media. You can hear the grunting from Petkovic at the beginning and at the end of the video.
Hands down!
Her talent doesn't hide in her Footwork despite what the clip accentuates.
continua a mesma excepcional jogadora!😃minha inspiração
Courage , spirit and power
Graceful
That footwork 🤯
Tennis goddess, incomparable steffi
the best players of all time
Would love to see her play Wimbledon 1 more time!
Love her but she’s 54!
@@Titicacaberryjuiceyea I didn’t say she would win the tournament or even a match. But would still love to see her out there
The legs which won 107 titles…
Vaowwww, she is dancing on the court...
The best ever.
Steffi and Roger the best ❤❤❤
Roger looks a lot more graceful, IMO.
Steffi's forehand grip is interesting. A bit like Del Potro, it's hard to understand how she can hit so hard and still keep the ball in play. I think one of the secrets is that she strung her racquets very tightly for the size head she used. It does explain somewhat though how her forehand could go off at times and she could start spraying errors.
Steffi and Del Potro both use an Eastern grip.
She's like a Jedi with a tennis racket and has the footwork of Ginger Rogers.
To think this video was filmed many years after her retirement 👑
2011
Quisiera ver un partido Agassi vs Graf
Steffi Graf 🐐🎾
The best ever
High intensity training
My dad was a super fan of Fraulein Forehand's.
Amazing! She moves better than Petkovic. Is she planning a comeback? In this shape, she may be still among top 100.
@Max E Are you sure about that? Did Petkovic even play in 2011? I don't think so.
@Max E Ok, that is possible, I forgot that she's already 33 years old today. Thanks for the clarification.
@Max E Wow, thanks for that insight! Maybe Petkovic realized, that she's never gonna be that good because of that movement gap Steffi showed her. In my opinion Petkovic's movement was really bad with bad ball reading and the biggest downpoint of her game.
And petko just retired 😭
The more I look at Steffi's arm movement when she hits a forehand, the more it seems to me that it's very similar to Juan Carlos del Potro's arm movement. It would be interesting to check this in slow motion.
Yes, best mover ever. She's still in way better shape in 2022 than Serena.
The fact you feel the need to mention Serena says a lot 😂
@@theycallmedannii_7296 You don't have to be a man's physique and ingest banned substances "allowed" by WADA, that's basically what Steffi Graf exudes.
Swallow it.
Ummm Serena is a new mom. Graf had her 2 kids 18+ years ago.
@@haroldlipschitz9301ok I understand you and realise she’s pregnant again but she’s one of the GOATS but she isn’t a new mom - she had her daughter almost 6 years ago. In the Tennis world that’s 24 slams ago. Svitolina is a new mom. Kerber is a new mom, perhaps even Townsend is kinda a new mom but 6 years isn’t

She is so classy, that movement is mesmerising for me,I still have that crush on Steffi.....
She looks so solid. How old was she when this was filmed?? Looks like any other professional player, despite being maybe 15 years older
It was filmed in 2011 and she was 41 years old here.
Impressive footwork! Question... is she doing a split step or is she just keeping her feet moving the entire time and there's no need for her to do the split step?
She is doing the split step but not as obvious and as high as a beginner would...
@@RMASUPERFLY Thank you

My all time favourite Tennis player along with Djokovic.
Can they play exhibition games for all the retired tennis players...i wish one day
In a 1 set match, she will still beat some of the top players we have today.
When was this filmed?

Aggression determination persistence this is the Yang style the
Estrés
Can she play top spin backhand or just slice?
yes, ive seen her top spin when she wants😊
she has excellent one hander but used it mostly for a passing shot
If you want to see her 1 handed topspin backhand she does it in this video. Go to 57 seconds and hit play. She hits it at almost 1 min mark.
She hit the topspin backhand when she needed it.
Best mover, best footwork, best forehand, fastest all around, no grunts not a peep, never drama, incredible athlete, best all around tennis player ever… sorry Williams sisters… 16 years and 21 grand slams vs 25 years and 22 grand slams…
Then why didn't she compete untill her 40's if she's that great?
No wonder why the graf's fan was dubbed as worst tennis fan, just look what happened to monica seles, and look at your self as imbecile.
@@lawrencesuazo1797 Because she reached GOAT status already at age 29.
@@carrerau7138 Exactly. When you're already the GOAT at a young age, there's no good reason to keep grinding away at it. Steffi was GOAT status and retired at a decent age so her quality of life is good. She retired and a couple years later got married and had her first child.
Steffi‘s career lasted 16 years, 10 months (first to last WTA main draw).
And she won 22 slams within 12 years.
Serena‘s career lasted 24 years, 11 months.
And she won 23 slams within 17 years, 4 months.

Steffi must have felt she was playing someone she used to play against in GS finals, years gone by 😉
Petkovic.
Was top 10 back then.

Steffi is the Muhammad Ali of the tennis world
i know she has great footwork but it appears she is late on her forehand is it just the way she times it am i mistaken because it looks to me like she doesn't prepare early like all the tennis pros say you should ps steffi is considered to have one of the greatest forehands of all time but it looks hurried compared to the way most of the girls hit today i asked nik from intuitive tennis about this and he didn't really give me a great answer also she seems to pull that left arm away earlier than the experts say you should could someone please help me out with these questions thank you
Late compared to what?
The average pro?
Earlier than experts say you should?
Any experts with a Golden Slam among them?
Questions asked, questions answered.
@@carrerau7138 i didn't mean that the experts are right she has what is considered maybe the best forehand in the history of female tennis what i was asking was some technical analysis from someone who knows way more about tennis than me because from my view of her forehand it appears late
@@tomharrison6607 You are right of course.
My point was that her idiosyncratic way is exactly the reason why her forehand was the greatest ever in the women’s game. You could also say that all the other players are too early on their forehand and should better emulate Steffi. But it was only her who had the physical ability to pull that off.
Her forehand is atypical. She doesnt catch it out in front. It's more to the side. Many have remarked about this.
@@theoriginalthinker9199 thanks you are right on it looks more to the side
Steffi the stabbed graf!
No, she is the blackmailed one.
The girl with the small stab wound was this grunter, Salles or so.
Kinda frustrating. 90% of Steffi's shots were forehands. What about that great sliced backhand?

@Max E yes you are again 100% correct; and with the racquets she used and still could generate that amount of pace and direction, she was just exceptional.
