What a killer story. I can imagine everyone’s reaction when first hearing Geert’s voice. When the split with Another Victim came out, I was such a massive Shai Hulud fan already. And when I saw that split at Newbury Comics one day, I was sideways with excitement. I bought it, tore the plastic wrapping off of it, tossed the cd in the cd player in the car and grabbed the lyric booklet. I had no idea that Chad was no longer on vocals at this point. I remember reading the names of the band lineup in the notes. And I remember feeling so bummed. But when the sound came over the speakers..”Heat, upon heat..upon HEAT”
And the song exploded into existence, I was so incredibly impressed. The feeling in my chest..my Shai Hulud obsession was instantly magnified. Geert was a perfect fit for the band. His stage presence was the best I’ve ever seen. Shai Hulud shows during that era were epic. The energy was visceral as fuck.

It's true that Matt Fox has always been the main lyricist.
But, on TWBIT we very much took a collective approach to lyrics writing. Everyone in the band contributed ideas and lyrics with MF functioning as main lyricist, editor.
But, I contributed a decent amount of lyrics as well as a lot of music to that album.
