Too right. All that energy and the vocals were brutal. This is my fave Shai Hulud song by far. So much emotion, gets me everytime. Gutted I never saw them live but I don't think they toured the UK much.
Hellfest was amazing Shai Hulud was a movement. I remember seeing countless "metalheads" turn on to this band. Energy is energy and these dudes oozed it.
Long live the 2000's miss them so much...great decade for music, video games, movies, the progression of tech...everything. So much better than shitty 2021
@marcusbiller867 I dunno man 2000's were all pretty good ...late 2000's had some of the most popular video games. ever made. That carried on into the early 2010's with games like Dark Souls and so on.
As much as I love Snapcase, they chose to play it over one of my favorite parts of this song. Either way, great song. Tony Tintari was my favorite Shai Hulud drummer aside from Steven. He was always super energetic.
I think its a good thing Shai Hulud never blew up, they have literally a cult following. Every show I've been to, the fans have been phenomonal. If you're into Shai Hulud, there is no in between, you rock! This is one of my favorite songs by them, (scornful of the motives and solely concentrating) are so inspiring. One of the very very few bands that have survived this long, and kept true to what they believe. Matt Fox is my hero.
The 2000's were so great...we still had the internet, cell phones, good video games, music, and movies yet everything wasn't so fucked up like it is in 2020.
this has got to be my favorite Shai Hulud song... and my favorite part of it starts at 2:24 so i gotta give some major props to that stage dive at 2:26 as well. awesome!
Maybe its strange, but this track is really chill for me. Its as if I plung into some kind of trance under this chaotic outburst of aggression. I very like it ❤
Back in junior year high school I was placed into the highest English \ writing course, AP English something or other, and halfway through the semester I was in danger of being kicked out for reasons other than my actual performance in the class (well leave it at that.) My teacher saw something in me and fought for me with the principal and board and they agreed that if I wrote a compelling enough essay as to my worth to the class and academia in general I would be allowed to stay. So using every trick I knew and more I wrote an essay that without sounding full of myself, was fucking flawless. However for fun I spotted throughout the entire essay lyrics from set your body ablaze for shits and giggles despite being the only one who would find it amusing. "A product of conceit so absorbed and vain that he thinks himself divine; He is sure to die And man must truly be God; for he has tried so hard to create me In His image." "I am the wayward son of man My fathers have darkened what was the warmest heart the world Would have ever known Relish in what you have created" Just to name a couple, tweaked slightly to fit into this context lol. And they all loved it. After they accepted it and allowed me back in to the course my teacher pulled me aside and no joke said hollow words will burn and hollow men will burn. Great taste in music, but next time I won't let you get away with any plagiarism. That teacher was awesome. I know it sounds a little corny but its one of my favorite stories and memories from school.
I was there too, remember when coheed played and everyone was like wtf? But liked it. Lamb of god and bane also killed it that year. And give up the ghost was super fun. I was 18.
i would have given anything to be there.. oh my god.. they sounded amazing and that crowd is evidence. i got goosebumps just watching the youtube video. probably would have shit my pants if i were there
Greatest band ever! On their site (if it is up) Hulud dot com they have a FAQ section and in it, it lists who was vegan, veggie, straight edge, Christian, ect ect. They had a few members of each influence.
They were officially a straight edge band until 1998, they don't officially promote any views anymore. I'm pretty sure the two Matts are still straight edge though.
simpler times... i miss the days of hulud, shelter, snapcase, etc. all hardcore before the term got so cynical and sub-genrified. just good aggressive music with heart.
Shai Hulud puts real emotion into their riffs that go right along with the lyrics. Listen to "Given Flight By Demon's Wings" or "This Song" while reading the lyrics...and try not to shit yourself.
strongarm one of the most influential? I'd say Minor Threat, Gorilla Biscuits, Youth Of Today, Cro-Mags, Agnostic Front, Bad Brains, Dag Nasty, Unbroken, and Strife
Christian Garcia, really? These lyrics are some of their best in my opinion. It's a song that spells out their disapproval for man. Fuck dude, read the lyrics and this song will rip your heart out. Such an amazing song all around!
Probably the most underrated band of ALL time. I think it's because people are scared to like a band named 'Shai Hulud' not a common name and you aren't cool if you don't know what it means. Fuck that.
As much as I liked hearing that, I still wish they played the original part because that's one of most brutal parts to the song. But I wasn't there so I guess I don't give a shit. Great Snapcase tribute though.
Ok to break the negative "who's hardcore and who's not"-energy, a little pop-quiz: who can tell me the name and song of the small part played from 0:55 til +/- 1:10? And i'll give you guys a headstart... it's not shai hulud and we're looking for a cd released in 1993...the band was legend
With the revolving door of Shai Hulud vocalists, he was hands down my favorite..
Carmel Kirk would you say that he showed you what he's got?
john doe He's the reason earth was spared..
Too right. All that energy and the vocals were brutal. This is my fave Shai Hulud song by far. So much emotion, gets me everytime. Gutted I never saw them live but I don't think they toured the UK much.
Easily. Geert ruled.
His scream/spoken word combo style of singing is the best.
Passion, intelligence, melody, brutality, hatred, love, meaning. This band has it all.
all because of God!
well said
20年振りに映像見たけど、信じられないほどに沸る
Hellfest was amazing Shai Hulud was a movement. I remember seeing countless "metalheads" turn on to this band. Energy is energy and these dudes oozed it.
Yes that was the best era in Hardcore!!!
Loved the 2000's so much. It was an amazing era for music and rock festivals.
the snapcase part hahaha, oh wow.. i haven't seen this in years. still my favorite band, for about 10 years now.
Yea Geert was a key player in this band for me. His energy was contagious. His voice was brutal as fuck too, and it fit perfectly for Shai Hulud.
Whats his whole name again? I don’t remember anymore. Admired him back in the days.
@@matthew_asmr1857 Geert Van Der Velde
Long live the 2000's miss them so much...great decade for music, video games, movies, the progression of tech...everything. So much better than shitty 2021
Actually the 90s and up until 2003. The 2000s after that are not so great.
@marcusbiller867 I dunno man 2000's were all pretty good ...late 2000's had some of the most popular video games. ever made. That carried on into the early 2010's with games like Dark Souls and so on.
I was at that hell fest... Loved when they jumped into that riff from snap case and no one knew wtf was going on. Great band.. great hell fest
As much as I love Snapcase, they chose to play it over one of my favorite parts of this song. Either way, great song.

love the snapcase teaser in the middle of this song!
It Prevails are also one of the greatest hardcore bands to exist, and I do listen to Shai Hulud everyday.
Best band forever!!!
one of THE original metalcore bands...Shai Hulud kicks ass!!
The 2000's were so great...we still had the internet, cell phones, good video games, music, and movies yet everything wasn't so fucked up like it is in 2020.
One of, if not the greatest hardcore song ever. Absolutely amazing. Wish i had seen them play live.
BEST HARDCORE BAND EVER. BOTTOM
LINE. I OWE MY LIFE THIS BAND……..
🖤🎼🤘🏻✨
Can't wait til their new album comes out. Bring on the spring!!!
this has got to be my favorite Shai Hulud song... and my favorite part of it starts at 2:24
so i gotta give some major props to that stage dive at 2:26 as well. awesome!
"My fathers have darkened what was the warmest heart the world would have ever known, so relish in what you've created."
They play Snapcase at 00:56! :) RESPECT!
this makes me think of the local concerts i go to but bigger. i love this

I love this! I did the same in 8th grade with Endwell lyrics!
Wow, that was almost 20 years ago. I feel old, but at least I was there.
I was there too, remember when coheed played and everyone was like wtf? But liked it. Lamb of god and bane also killed it that year. And give up the ghost was super fun. I was 18.
@@alexanderjames04 dude. Bane was epic

The lyrics of this song are phenomenal.
greatest hardcore band ever! along with refused, (old) eighteenvisions, strongarm, and (old) ptw
This may be the Great Hardcore Song of All Time.
Damn, I wish I was there. The greatest hardcore band that ever existed.
I always smile when I see a kid in the mosh with a backpack. I wonder how long it stays together...

The 2000's were so much better than 2010-2021.

I will testify
I CANT GET TIRED OF SHAI HULUD!!!

The best era of metalcore.
Ahhhhh man I miss the Hulud with Chad. Simpler times, love this friggin' band.
This band had the best lyrics ever.
FROM FLESH TO STEEL I FORTIFY!
Greatest band ever! On their site (if it is up) Hulud dot com they have a FAQ section and in it, it lists who was vegan, veggie, straight edge, Christian, ect ect. They had a few members of each influence.
the only hardcore band i can still listen to now that i'm in my 30's
as per any 30+ like myself. music sucks these days.
Hardcore never gets old only you do.
MAGA!
They were officially a straight edge band until 1998, they don't officially promote any views anymore. I'm pretty sure the two Matts are still straight edge though.

At 0:14 the stage diver totally stepped on that dudes face.
Which is why NFG deserves respect.
why the hate? NFG and SYG are both great bands.
van a venir a chile wn!

fucking sick!
chad gilbert, the guitar player for newfound glory used to be the singer for shai hulud
As much as I liked hearing that, I still wish they played the original part because that's one of most brutal parts to the song. But I wasn't there so I guess I don't give a shit. Great Snapcase tribute though.
i think this is from the 2000 dvd.
I miss Chad being in this baaaaaaaaaand.
Haha, I got it^^
@terrorstorm666
I would have choosen the first one anyday :p
what year is this from?
2002 i guess
listen to moar turning point if you're into this band
let me rephrase my last comment...
Chad gilbert = best shai hulud singer ever
Chad was good but Geert was the best!
If speaking upon Chad, yes.
WTB Chad
pause at 0.14 haha watch that guy stagediving and the guy in front of the stage..that hurts.
Some are, some arent, they object to be defined by labels like vegan, christian, straight edge, because none of those things are their message.
oh come on, new found glory is good shit
just different
i love both bands
The time when Hellfest was still a HC fest unlike now.
igaveyouwings!!!! is that VeganBen!!!!??? its natexmetal bro!
