      Why did you have to use the noiseless pickups? I'm sure this is gonna be a $2000 guitar, and the noiseless pickups are garbage compared to the V mods on the professional. Why not the fat 50's?

      @@fragtagninja1633 it lacks a boost +pure bypass+neck pickup+bridge pickups as single coils = perfect with sparkle, gold leaf

      I'm okay with the pickups as I hate hum live. I was wondering why did Fender use such lame pickup configurations when using the S1 switch. I thought there would have been series configurations for fatter tones from the pickups.
      The vibrato arm didn't get much of a workout. How well does it stay in tune?
      Both guitars sound good, they would handle stage work easily.

    • @Mark70609
      @Mark70609 4 роки тому

      Fragtagninja the noiseless pickups sounded fine in the video, how are they rubbish?
      Would you rather the noise or to use the Illitch series humcancelling coil
      In the pickguard?
      I don't think it is too much to ask in 2020 for a Fender that doesn't hum or go out of tune.
      Maybe there ought to be a Customshop model that uses single coil pickups and the Illitch plate Suhr guitars used that set up so it can't be too bad.

    I bought my first ever electric guitar 4 months ago. It was one of these, a Cobra Blue Ultra American Stratocaster, I originally learned guitar on a beat up $600 Korean acoustic that my dad never learned to play. Years of neglect and mistreatment didn’t do it justice. I decided I wanted something to grow into, something to age with, like fine wine only getting better with time. My budget was 3k (after a very long time of saving up). I decided I wanted the best amp and best guitar I could. Once again with thought of growing with it. I bought a deluxe reverb amp. I can say, best investment I’ve ever made. My growth has been incredible it’s even daunting having such a great guitar in comparison to my skill. It makes learning feel endless. I very rarely want to put it down. I don’t regret spending that much money. I’ll keep this guitar forever, maybe even pass it down to my kids.

      Retired guy by the lake here and a complete guitar noob looking for a new rainy/snowy day passtime and something to expand and grow with now that I have a little extra cash and lots of days off... Want to keep my brain sharp and fingers/hands nimble after decades of Infantry, heavy equipment and crane operation and industrial work.
      Have never so much as plugged a cable into a guitar or amp, don't know a chord, haven't yet experienced sore fingertips.
      My very first guitar - a new Strat Ultra HSS in blue with the rosewood fretboard is arriving at the Post Office tomorrow from Fender. I don't have a single other guitar accessory or amp yet. Nada. Sounds like I'm gonna be in good company. I hear there's a "new guitar smell"? Lots to look forward to in the coming years...
      I wrote this as encouragement for younger guys to Tithe to the Lord so He can bless the other 90%, then save at least a quarter of the remainder each payday.

      G.S.X., your ignorance and selfishness shining through with a comment like that. You are correct in that the world is a majority of right handers. But there are 1.35 billion left handers on earth too, and some of us like to play guitar as well. Guitars are built mostly by machines so it is not as difficult or expensive to build left handed guitars just a matter of programming the computer to cut lefty bodies and necks. All guitar manufacturers should include left handed guitars in every production run, at least 10%. Companies such as Martin and Taylor have no problem building left handed guitars. Maybe if guitar manufacturers stopped mindlessly cranking out millions of guitars per year, 99.9% of which are right handed, the industry would not continue to see major builders filing bankruptcy or worse closing their doors forever. Who knows, maybe left handers the world over can save the guitar industry as a whole. There is no question that the left handed community the world over has been under served since the beginnings of guitar manufacturing and its present. Perhaps figuring out how to provide left handed guitarists with a much greater variety of guitars in the most economical way for the buyer and a modest profit for the builder can save this industry. Because the present model of building is unsustainable.

    Im more into bypassing that all an throwing in a simple freeway 10 way switch. 10 pickup combos on 1 guitar is 2 guitars in 1. People know the combos of different guitars in there collection on 5 ways and 3 ways. 10 way is not alot.
    Also this guitar needs stainless steel frets and baked maple neck for its price point. Some would say the harder frets would brighten those noisless pickup highs in the right place.

      @@mitcharney1 Alright, first off SS frets have very little to no difference at all in tonality to nickel, and I never said that they did. The point of them is that they don't wear and they don't feel as rough when you bend a string. They are literally an improvement in every way, and the only reason most companies don't use them is because stainless steel is much more difficult to work with because of how hard it is.
      In regards to your comment about all the hit records, that point is irrelevant because SS frets do not make you a better guitar player, they just make for a better instrument. Creativity has nothing to do with functionality.

      Look for a 2018 model, 600.00 is what my HSS was, and it's pickups sound much better than the Ultra. Sure it's an MIM, but it's a great instrument and you're right, the HSS is very versatile.

    When you split the humbucker and it works like a single coil, why should someone go for the sss version. Just don’t understand the difference. Thank you

    • @GabrielNardinMusic
      @GabrielNardinMusic 4 роки тому +3

      Because if you really need that twangy/bright single coil sound on the bridge, the splitted humbuckers generally get you close but don´t match perfectly the type of output of a real single coil. It is a pretty common situation found on superstrats, for example. It normally sounds "similar" to a single coil, but not "identical". There are some cases of pick ups that get really get close, though. But Yes, I do agree with your general reasoning. In a Strat I definitely prefer the versatility of a HSS configuration (eventually with the possibility of splitting humbuckers) and if I really, REALLY want a typical classic extremely bright sounding single coil pick up on the bridge I would probably put the Strat down and better think of Telecaster type of guitar, or something like that. In any case I would not go for the SSS version.

    • @legacyShredder1
      @legacyShredder1 3 роки тому

      The HSS strats have much hotter outputs on all of the pickups including the single coils giving a significantly different sound than on the traditional strats. It's a big significance when going for the single coil tone.

    2020 and the pole pieces are STILL staggered and STILL misaligned rather than being dead on the strings, cmon fender. If you're going to make an "ultra" stratocaster, I expect modern improvements. Many people are going to hate me for saying this but PRS has made the endgame strat. I think the only possible thing they could do better with the Silver Sky is to make the pickups noiseless. The silver sky is what a real modern stratocaster is to my eyes, its a shame that the company that makes actual strats can't even catch up with the times.
