This chapter always strikes me more than many of the others. Chris’ letter to Franz is something I hold near and dear to my heart. Thank you once again for a fantastic reading

Awesome Jim I appreciate you mentioning this here. GREAT to hear from other fans who were moved by Jon’s book here. AND yes!! Chris’s letter! We finally kindof get his personal manifesto (at that time). It’s sad, it’s relatable (to both sides, I think for most of us), it’s bittersweet. Whole book kindof feels that way. I think that’s why it’s stuck with me for so many years. Thanks again for sharing and stay tuned the rest of the book is on the way each week till we are done!

This chapter was by far the most emotional so far. I teared up at multiple points. It's really touching how Franz and McCandless became friends, and it broke me to hear about Franz's reaction to the news

Also when Franz was waiting for Alex/Chris, it reminded me of the story of Hachiko, the dog, waiting :(((

Agreed. Franz found love again in his life. Saw a spark in Chris. But Chris saw a spark in Franz as well! They helped each other during their brief time together.

Reading this book in my 12th grade English class, and I have to say that reading along with you has made the biggest difference. Your skill when it comes to conveying emotion, along with the voices you give individual characters, does so much for me. Thank you so much for doing what you do, and I look forward to spending the rest of this story along with you!

Wow, thank you! 🙏 I really appreciate the encouragement and feedback. I did my best to come up with unique voices so they sounded like real, distinct people. As you can tell, I ad libbed the whole thing and just went with whatever voice that I could match to my picture of each person in my head. Thanks for commenting, I hope you enjoy the rest and good luck with your class!

    Thanks for reading this.
I couldn't do Franz and the letter justice with the voice in my head.
Can't wait to watch and read what's next.

Awesome to hear. Yeah I like how his voice came out. I pictured him, and then just tried to match that up to what I thought how he’d sound. Thank you. Cheers.

Beautifully read , you made this book go from an obligation to read for my class to honesty enjoying it. I hate books normally, but you make them enjoyable. May God bless you.

Amazing. Thanks for the feedback and the well wishes, Jeremey. I have found that with the right delivery + injecting some passion and personality, one can make a story more interesting for audiences (not every audience, but my style is not for everybody, as you might gather). I appreciate you sticking the story out with me and sharing a comment letting me know you are out there. Blessings to you and yours as well. Good luck!!

Please don’t stop making videos, these are so nice for my long drives home.
I used to read so much in high school but ever since I’ve been in the military I just don’t have any time at all. So calming and makes me feel better

Awesome River Docs. You’re my kind of people. You wanna sit back and revisit a classic? Have me stand up a little mock discussion/debate at a couple points along the way? You came to the right place. I pledge a new chapter of this every week until we are done. Thanks for coming, for encouraging and I hope you enjoy!

The Franz Saga made me emotional, what a deep and meaningful chapter this was.

    • @NickSalvatoriello
      @NickSalvatoriello  11 місяців тому

For real. Franz really opened his heart to Chris. He had a lot of love in him. I could see how that could be a lot for someone like Chris. But I thought John's words were great towards the end where he said this was another relationship he didn't want to face the fear of intimacy with. Cheers.

I really appreciate you doing I m reading this as a summer read in book for my sophomore year and I struggle keeping focus when I read but with your little about the book have really helped me keep focus and comprehend the book really well because I know for many teenagers some books are a little harder to comprehend but you make it really easy so thank you

Loved hearing this. Thank you very much for sharing. It’s the reaction I hoped for (because I also struggle sometimes with focusing on the material, no matter how important, so shaking things up a bit can be refreshing at times - at least that’s the hope). Enjoy the rest and thanks for commenting. See you at the end.
