The blame should be more so on the Vikings back up running back than Darnold. He couldn't get anything going and fumbled a pitch before it started raining. Darnold led a drive for a field goal at the end of the game without a running back.

The more i watch nick wrights team and qb tiers. i think its supposed to be wrong. Because without it, we dont get the comedy segments that wilds, brou, and friends give ripping the rankings to shreds in one form or another.
The biggest piece to Minnesota's success right now is their defense that has made teams one dimensional. They have been playing with a lead forcing teams to throw and no one has been able to do it. I thought their secondary would be the weakness that kept them out of the playoffs but so far those old guys are balling out for them. I'm glad Sam Darnold has finally found a place where he can excel because he's had a rough road so far and deserves some returns on his investment.
If you want to beat the Vikings, it's about the trenches. Who can run the ball? If you can't run against them, like most of their opponents this season, then their pass rushers are going to tee off on your QB till he throws some balls into coverage. If you can't stop their rushing attack, then Sam Darnold is gonna carve up your defense with all those wonderful toys. If you win at the LOS then you'll put the Vikings in waters they haven't had to swim in yet this season.

It's been a perfect example of complementary football. The defense have given us excellent field position and darnold has given us an early lead, which as you mentioned allows bflo and that pass rush to tee off. The best chance of beating the vikings is jumping out to an early lead since that's the one thing they haven't had to do is play from behind. I honestly think the lions have the best chance of beating us out of any team so far, we'll see you week 7
I’d say it’s both. Like the comment made in this thread it’s been very complimentary. I wouldn’t be surprised if both O’Connell and Flores are in each others meetings learning from one another.
Flores has ran and executed an ingenious scheme that many players and coaches have not seen.
O’Connell has been able to give Darnold a very clean pocket by using heavier personnel and then mixing it up with 11 and 10 personnel to exploit holes and certain matchups.
It is complementary as both sides of the ball are putting the other into advantages positions. I guess my point is that O'Connell while being a great coach isn't reinventing the wheel with his offense. While no one seems to be able to figure Flores's defense out. Who's dropping and who's coming??? No one knows... I think him and his defensive schemes are the bigger obstacle for opposing teams.
I don’t think most people watch them play. If you watched every game you would know so far that Darnold has played great. The Jets have the 2nd best secondary and not only that they don’t realize that he took that shot to the ribs and played off for the rest of the night. Up until then he didn’t look to bad against a good defense.
Only thing I’ll disagree with is Mayfield statement. Mayfield got nothing but hate until he proved himself with the Bucs. I kept telling everyone when the Bucs first picked him up that he would make them a playoff team and everyone laughed. He had to prove himself.

That being said, Nick Wright is the new Skip Bayless. He's very stubborn and holds on to the same narratives for a player for a while. He doesn't realize that coaching and situations really matter in the NFL. Anyways, I can't wait for Sam Darnold to prove this fool wrong once again.

It is easy for the Media, etc. to dismiss/disregard this team due to MN's issues with inconsistency and collapsing under pressure especially in the postseason historically. Until MN actually wins a SB and does not choke in the postseason, (which hopefully they make), this will continue. I do believe though that the Vikings are an easy target because of said inconsistency and history of talent that has so far failed to win the big game. People are skeptical to jump on the bandwagon because it has rolled over and crashed too many times in the past. Again just my opinion.
Will Sam Arnold go into pumpkin mode? Yes I believe so but as of right now he’s been a big contributor to the Vikings winning and deserves his credit for that
