- Remember that Casio you had at school that went “beep” on the hour, every hour? No, I couldn’t figure out how to get it to shut up, either. As for a watch that you wouldn’t want to silence, I give you the A. Lange & Söhne Zeitwerk Striking Time-and it’s a watch fit to annoy a king.

- I want a digital watch, but analog.
- Okay, say no more.
I want a digital watch, but analog.
Okay ... hold my beer
Digital watch, but mechanical.
Analogue vs digital is solely in the readout. Analogue is continuous, digital only displays specific characters (ie, digits, hence digital).
tissot t-touch and it's brilliant. it's not for someone as unrefined as yourself.
@@viscountalpha ...who are you even replying to?
@@DAKOTA56777 but is a watch that displays analog hands on a screen digital or analog then?^^
You know they are expensive to unaffordable when they don't discuss the price. $92,000.00
Thanks, was wondering...
@@scottlalonde2878 Yes these aren't meant for the average person, but for the rich one. If you make $50,000.00/year, you might spend $5,000.00 on one watch. That's one tenth of one's annual wages. Comparatively, if one bought this watch, which is $92,000.00 - $120,000.00, one's annual wages would have to be $920,000.00 to $1,200,000.00. That's who it is meant for.
Only 60k second hand!
😂most people earn 20k a year . This watch is over price ... 92$ I’ll buy ... 😆
@Lee Dawson Try to go to an AD and get one. Waitlist 10 years and that is only if you have a good relationship with them. Usually they encourage you to buy other watches first before they even put you on the list. Demand-driven market.
I would say something like "someday" but the reality is I'll be having cup o noodles for lunch today.
Change the way you think dude and youll get it its not that hard
@@stefanfreestylez depends on where you live. In my country you probably would have to decide between buying a house and getting a "highest-end" watch.
@@nicolasarriaza7614 In my country you can sell a whole neighborhood and not own that watch. lol
I promise you all that in your country there's a man that can own that zeitwerk striking time. They might have had their fortune handed down to them, but there's also a man in the past who's related to that person in your country that had to start from nothing. Don't let your geography decide how big you can dream
You good my guy. Keep your head up!! 👍
Knowing how to turn the casio sound of and keeping the alarm still active made me the school master for a week 🤣
How does one?
Rumour has it that the infinity stones are actually hidden inside this watch
😅😅
Turns out it was just the time stone though
That’s a good point, plus there’d only be one so it would be impossible to be in a series of watches where they manufactured more than one. If it were in any it would probably be one made for the Only Watch auction or something similar. Very good and reasonable point Paul, I can’t believe how foolish we were to genuinely believe that they were real. It’s a good thing you said something. You absolute hero.
Thanos wants to know your location.
That explains why that watch can annoy royalty with impunity.
I've watched about 25 videos on this Watchfinder & Co. channel and this is the first time I've ever wanted the watch in the video. Absolutely gorgeous watch!
A.Lange Söhne design language and ability to advance the artistry of watchmaking is inspiring. They could have recess the gong into the case, but they managed to put it on display and not distracts the clean design. I would say they are the best of the best.
I like your subtle sense of humor with your recent videos. This one comparing A. Lange & Söhne to Casio, I couldn't stop laughing.
The Macro shots really show the perfection of every single curve and finishing on her. Wish I can own her someday.
Horology porn. A pure object of desire and lust to own.
When they say " watching porn " , I laugh my head off.!
@@PETER-rt6zt yo Mr P.... your words are deep 🥂
safe for work (fetish)
5:45 - "only the Casio didn't have 528 parts". The Casio had much more - they're called "Transistors".
honestly, I'm not sure it has that many more transistors than this watch has parts
Does anyone know what model of Casio is he speaking about?
When people say "parts," they're not referring to solid-state chips.
@Robby Dey electrons do move, a LOT of them
Robby Dey - Ah, one of the classic discussions between engineers & physicists.
Seldom does anything on youtube hold the lower and upper mandibles apart more that this video, the art work inside the time piece is exquisite, the narrative explanitary , the image sharp and crisp. great video many thanks for the post.
EXACTLY.
I mean, technically you only have one mandible.
Nick Fontaine depends on how movable the upper jaw is.
@@jenniferschmitzer299 In mammals, the upper jaw is fixed to the rest of the skull and called a maxilla rather than a mandible. David may be a species of fish or insect though. Nick just assumed that David had a mammalian skull but at least he didn't assume David's gender. Some mistakes are more offensive than others.
we wear the mask umm ok
There was a disturbance in Dresden back in the 40's, that's a lucky clock
Apparently they had to rebuild it after that. It was the second time--it also burned in 1869.

@@adamengelhart5159 i simply ador the Semperoper ever since it was reopened back in 1985.
I lived across the GUB - Lange HQ back in the 80s. Was a bit run down back then.
For me this is the most prettiest watch ever made.
The Zeitwerk is incredible, one of the most beautiful and compelling watches I have ever seen. Off topic, I know, but I would also ask critics of the Lange Odysseus to reconsider it from a fresh point of view. It is an elegant and deceptively simple watch, and if you feel that the bracelet is not quite right, please sleep on it for a little while, let it sink in, let the beauty of it possess you, and I hope you might come to understand why it works so well. I was a bit put off by it at first, but the more I looked at it, the more I loved it. Just give it some time. Yeah, it's overpriced, surely, but aren't they all?
I mean, it's worth it.
I reckon the Odysseus is a slow burner; something I said when it first came out. I myself, wasn't all that keen on it. There were a lot of accusations of copying other brands which I did not understand because there was not one single design element that wasn't Lange's own. Now I see people in various comments looking at it and starting to change their minds about it. So, I'll say it again: the Odysseus is a slow burner and in a couple of years time it will become a hot model. As much as a 200 piece per year watch with an already long waiting list can be considered hot.
The Odysseus is absolutely a slow-burner, and completely Lange to its core. At first, a lot of people were saying, this doesn't even look like a Lange, but I completely see the company's design language at work. How could one not? I think this model will become absolutely hot before too long.
Matthew Gurlitz Sounds more like you are trying to convince yourself for buying it.
Hah! Probably so, but might just have to wait a little while. 😉
"I couldn't figure out how to get it to shut up either." Haha, I remember in middle school everybody looked my way every time an hour passed kinda like saying "Thanks mate, now we can tell the teacher the lesson is about to end" and I would just wave at them like "No problem man", good times lol.
"A masterpiece of synchronicity" thank you for your wonderful video
This is one of the best videos made on youtube.Great storytelling with a perfect ending!! Congratulations!!
Just spent 20 minutes trying to remember who made this watch and what its name was. Totally worth it, I love watching this video.
The finishing on this watch is exquisite. Usually your macro shots show up any deficincies in finish, but with this one it would appear that there's none to be found.
A.Lange & Sohne make their watches on microscopic level perfection. Not enough credited in the sea of swiss brands, but probably the best watchmaker in industry.
The information the views your camera shows the watchhh ... its simply amazing. I love it
Ahhh the 145.029. Incredible time piece. Only problem is, it costs about £149,029
One of my favorite watches ever. Thanks so much to introducing us to such masterpieces-- in such brilliant and up close detail. You have the best watch channel on UA-cam-- hands down. Wishing you millions of subscribers-- and the dollars to match it.
Please feature the A. Lange & Sohne Odysseus
You are undoubtedly my favorite pair of talking hands on UA-cam! I would love to see a comparison video between a few minute repeaters at different price points.
If PF, VC and OP are the holy trinity, A Lange & Sohne are the god above all! They're just impressive!
Please review Casio F-91W next
Yes! We need a video about the legend itself.
Does that do an hourly chime?! Probably need to spend an extra $10 for that
Your videos and commentary along with it is just brilliant. I want you to make a video of all of my wrist and pocketwatches and I'll probably sell not one of them ever again. Well done. BTW the Zeitwerk is spectacular.
Per me l'orologio in assoluto più bello e di qualità migliore di TUTTI!
Haha your story spins on the watches are always amazing! ^^
Very curious what macro lens / 📷 you use. Great video like always 👍🏻
I adore traditional chiming time pieces.
"tradition was only made by once trying something new"
The finishing on this watch makes it look like it’s been computer enhanced in HD. Incredible.
Hey, thanks for posting this. Must be 7 a.m. UK time, at least according to New York City time. Love your content and I'm very happy to be subscribed. Your watch photography is exquisite and second to none.
Your watch **pornography
Inconsistent screw fastener alignment holding resonance bars / gongs on the watch face would likely be a distraction magnet for ADDs
First thing I noticed!
I think the screws could be part of the tuning for the chimes if you look at the positioning, a bit of a guess admittedly.
Screws in movements are never aligned--- there are dozens and dozens of them in complicated movements. Many used for adjustment... asking for something like that is just absurd/disrespectful.
@@ShadowPoet My comment is specific to the four fasters holding the resonance bars / gongs on the watch face. For the remainder of the movement that are not on the face fastener alignment is not important. For a watch of this calibre and price and as a AL&S customer, it has to be perfect. Aligning the fasteners is not rocket science. For example just look at any OP Royal Oak bezel. Not my cup of tea but the method of using fasteners is designed to be aligned on the part seen most often by the user. If you still think that is absurd and disrespectful than each to their own.
No brand, high or low have aligned screw heads. AP uses bolts with a slot cut into it.
Inspiring. Thank you so much for making such incredible watches!
Watching this beautiful watch work calms the mind and gives me pause from the noise of the time.
Great video, I enjoyed it and thanks. A. Lange and Sohne is a fantastic brand with notable complications such as double split, triple split. and Lange31. In my opinion the only watch in the Zeitwerk family is better than the striking time is the Zeitwerk minute repeater. It is great if you can do a review of the Zeitwerk minute repeater. .
Greetings out of Dresden, Germany 👍🏽
I love the Zeitwerk. With the complications of having a remontoir and air brakes to make it work properly...
But this, with even a repeater... They're crazy😱
What a wonderful day when watchfinder releases a new video.
I can’t express the respect I have for this channel. Oh man.... that extra bit of culture/history on the top of gorgeous visuals. You guys nailed it again. ❤️
Great narration on this watches history. My favourite watch brand by far👍🏾👍🏾
Wow just wow. I don't know what is more impressive your story telling or the watch.
I googled the semper clock so i could see the inspiration for this "zeit" (time) "werk" (art/creation). It would be nice to see the original on this video and maybe a mechanical comparison in another video.
Werk can also mean machine or factory. I like the idea of a time factory
@@ili4707 I think it‘s just a play on „Uhrwerk“, „clockwork“.
Just saw this short tourist video of the Semper clock changing time. Not as slick as the zeitwerk but still impressive!

Make an orange one in commemoration of Anthony Burgess....A Clockwork Orange.
Tommy Salami Haha! That would be so funny!
"I couldn't figure out how to get it to shut up either." Uh, back then I was still reading directions, and back then things still came with directions, so that was easy.
I bet this one doesn't
pft.. inferior mech watches amirite XD
uuh I just bought that watch, and it comes with directions, and it's really easy to set up
Yep, just press one button in alarm setting mode, I think... not that hard.
Hello,
Love your video and I wanted on so many occassions to ask you what macro lens are you using. It's wonderfull!!!
Thank you so much for showing this watch.
Absolutly stunning master work.
This thing is something different. Would love to acquire and own one
Great Video, you have a great sense of humour too, always have a good chuckle at your commentary, would love to own a Lange, but way out of my price range..
Keep up the great work
I don't care what anyone else says A.Lange &Sohne are masterpieces and no one else comes close
Dingodongo Australis all German watches are great but lange are the best ,their case backs are sublime
Dingodongo Australis I think A. Lange & Sohne is definitely the best mass produced watch brand but there are more well made watches from smaller brands. Look at Lang & Heyne for example.
thesnackbandit define mass produced. These are made by hand in small quantity.
@@RK-br5sx 5000 watches per year sounds mass produced to me.
Dingodongo Australis yes , they are the best ,their exhibition case backs are sublime
What a great review, I immediately subscribed to your channel because of my love for watches like this one.
In an alternate universe where humans are non-violent, “wars” are settled by those who are the most skilled watchmakers. In that alternate universe, an alternate “me”, is watching a well drilled body of men marching in step, all wearing an A.Lange & Sohne (incidentally, NEVER underestimate how many pairs of shoes my wife can fit in a suitcase). Superb vid. Mr Talking Hands at his finest 👌🏻
So Japan will win then?
Pugzilla Erm...Germany
@@Starstreak170 Japan doesn't even have relevant competition to watches like these. Switzerland has tons but it's all over the place, as in spread out between many brands.
I love the narration on these videos, it really adds another level of quality
A brilliantly designed watch, one of the best for sure. I wish it was transparent so you could see all the amazing complexity. It would also be fantastic to have a big transparent one so you can understand the cleverness.
Sure this company is the best watchmaker in the world. No boring old mans watches in this companies collection.
‘Fervent squirrel’ would make an excellent username.
I like your username 💀
8:14 to hear the chime.
and watch the second hand move erratically by it.
Gorgeous timepiece, love the chimes! A bit reminds me to the jump-watches of the '70s, but those mostly had inferior pin-lever movements...
Thanks for this video! I’ve been looking at this for some time!
I love this video. Great idea. Not every watch has a unique story, hell, not all watchmakers have interesting history either. Some of them might be old and make reliable products, but the history itself probably isn't that interesting. For the few that do, it's nice that we get to know about them. I would love to see more videos like this!
Absolutely amazing. I love Lange. This episode had some particularly fine writing, too. Great history.
Super Grail. That is all. Just fascinating. Would love a review on the date one.
As a Dutch speaking Belgium, I wonder why people cannot check the pronunciation of a simple word like Söhne.
Like every other video on this channel i absulutely loved it. I also would like to see a Video about the HM7 Aquapod.
A Lange definitely has the most beautiful watches.
Love these videos...makes me appreciate the "common" watch
Excellent detailed presentation
Some people wish to have a Rolex. Other people have Hublot as a grail. Me. This is my grail. One day!
The mechanism inside has a rythm that makes me think of a heart, and as such, this watch is alive.
Its a basic design, worth 20 dollars.
damn, every watch is alive then^^
Well, that's quite something. And what a beautifully structured narrative.
This is one of the best examples of why watches, and watchmaking in general, are so amazing! There is history and heritage like nowhere else in the world!
@6:13 "...to count the 4 extra parts." One could argue the extra button on the side could count, as it is seen from the front and the back. Details, i know, but for a guy with OCD like me, well i just had to write this hehe. Stunning watch, and a brilliant presentation, as always, by the hands-guy with the smooth voice.
Oh and @6:29 "...hiding them away in that sliver of extra space like fervent squirrels." Really nice to hear such original and fresh metaphors! You sometimes remind me of Jeremy Clarkson, who also used umm lets say 'unusual' ways of describing the cars he was reviewing. It shows you put real effort into making these videos!
Disabling the hour beep on my Casio was and still is rather simple. Simple in the sense that I have no clue and had no clue how to disable it, but if it were to be activated by mistake I could deactivate it within a minute.
What a great story behind this watch. Where else could I get such interesting information told in such a brilliant way? Now all that remains to do is hiring a good UX designer to revamp the watchfinder webpage, and I may actually purchase a watch from your website.
Would love to see the Lange Lumen series in future videos
Mechanical watch makers just keep coming up with crazier and crazier designs and ideas. I love it
Ah... the A. Lange & Sohne 145.029. Showing others how grail watches should be ❤❤❤
One of the best episodes so far. Keep on the good work!
Beautiful timepiece, but they are made for a particular clientele.
Basically if you have to ask "how much," then you cannot afford it.
You should just be able to walk in the store, take one look and say "give me one in platinum, and one in gold for going out on the weekend."
great video
thanks so much!
I love this UA-cam Channel !!! Please feature Sinn Diving Watched like U1S or U2S!
Very interesting that you film your hand gestures without actually speaking. I wonder if you do the VO first and then film yourself holding it with some hand gestures and cut it up to fit. Nicely done video and story. A dream watch for sure.
Watching these videos knowing I'll never own any of these......
me tooooooooooooooooo ;(
You can still appreciate the art, history and craftsmanship behind these pieces. I also enjoy knowing people will have this on their wrists!
Watchfinder has done videos on one of a kind time pieces, but they've also made videos on Longines, and Ball watches. I am not saying $1000 to $2000 dollars is little money, but it is a magnitude lower in price compared to what this ALS costs.
Never say never
Lost for words absolutely my favourite watch brand, love the mechanics of the movements in their time pieces
I have been eyeing this beauty for a year now. When that bonus comes in hand hello Zeitwork!
The macro shots are always the best!
Woahh😱 the ALS Zeitwerk very cool and the up-close view of the movement it's fascinating.. You know well the history of the Big size date window from the brand and it's association with the Dresden Opera House 👌...
A masterpiece indeed, thank you Watchfinder and Co
Nice watch A Lange digital watch and nice history of the king of Saxony commissioning the watch technology.
Watch this on a full HD big screen. This video deserves an award 🔥 🔥 🔥
You guys REALLY improved your narration game in comparison to like a year or two ago
I would be very impressed if you are able to create a video like this for the Laine Gelidus2. It would also be delightful to see the video with the timepiece in question in the original watchbox and then the detailed close ups. I'm looking forward to this video, should you be able to manage. Kind regards
I’m not a big fan of digital timepieces but this is in a class by itself. I would definitely wear one. Also, those Casios that you mention. The part I actually used to like about the first ones to come out was the hour and half hour time signal. And they were loud. Could be heard across a noisy room. I stopped wearing them when Casio turned down the volume and did away with the half hour signal. When they took that away it was just a boring watch. Keep these great videos coming.
"Exploding each disc like a cat that fell in the bath..." Love it! :-]
8:09 why, hello there! Glad to finally see you :)
A Lange and Söhne are just making brillant watches ...
My grail. Such an impressive watch. It would be even cooler had Lange stuck with the Roman numeros for hours as per the original opera hall clock
Yay! New Watchfinder & Co video!
