I appreciate the amount of explanation you give for each of these games. Most youtubers would just skip straight to the fighting and leave you not actually understanding the game.

Oh dude, I love this game! Its a great low floor, high ceiling type of game. I love taking high risks in the first few rooms, then take it easier to collect gold, then spend it before the boss.
I have no experience in looting cursed and forgotten temples but I have the strong impression this game is an accurate reenactment of what it would be. Thanks for the reminder, 1.0 looks more consistent and varied than before.
"I'd rather not be killed by a harpy that smells like patchouli". I laughed a little too hard at that.
"...I am paying rent on a place that I am trying to loot" - it's these lines that always get me with these reviews.
By the way, Splatt' seemed to be handling that boss rather fluently considering how much enemy weapon to face he had suffered in the dungeons prior.

I can not excuse you ending the video mid boss fight lol if this was my first time seeing this game I would be so upset you didn't show me what a full boss battle looks like. Great game though.

Hades reminded me a bit of this game.
my first thought was Darkest Dungeon, but this gameplay is very different, but the graphics are very familiar, also the dark and light mechanic
Considering that my first impression of this game was it being the consensual lovechild of Darkest Dungeon and Hades, you and Sinester are both pretty much on point here.
In any case, gud gaem, wud plae.
this game is criminally underrated . I thought with the massive success of hades and the similarities in their art style i would have bet money people would have been more likely to check it out , but it doesn't seem to be massively popular. I hope that changes for the devs though, the art style, quality and polish and overall design of the game is excellent. One of the best purchases i've made video game wise all year.
Game is great, I bought it on Xbox premiere today, and I'm playing whole evening :-)
Edit: one more thing from my little experience: in some games directional aiming is pain with controller, here its flawless.
Okay, I just got this game a few days ago, and I LOVE it! So addictive! I'm a huge fan of roguelikes, and this has definitely got to be in my top 5. I love the roguelikes that allow you to find different weapons and get different abilities/attributes each run, giving it damn near infinite replay value. There are a ton of weapons you can find to begin with, plus a ton you can unlock. A total masterpiece of a roguelike! I highly recommend this one, and Splatter should revisit it to draw more attention to it, and defeat a boss as well! Wish he woulda showcased the boss of this area in this video.
Looks great. I have heard it compared to Hades, but it's only really the visual style that is all that similar. Reminds me of "west of dead" probably more.

Bro, its really annoying how you cut of your videos with no consideration as to where in the game you are.
Wouldnt have hurt to finish the boss and then showed us the after game upgrade screen.

Splatt, darkness is a very bad thing exept if you have curses and buffs that take advantage of it wich takes a lot of time in a run. If you dont have those you take 50 % more damage in the dark and traps arent revealed until they hit you

Does the game have demonic symbols that appear on the ground or magic circles that look demonic? My friend won't play games with them in it he's very careful about not looking at it
While both games are great in their own respect, this game has the mechanical depth in combat and upgrades that I felt was lacking in Hades. Of course it's at the expense of story, but in this type of game I'm not sure how many people care about that.

I think the main reason why this game is not that much talked about is that the amount of content is nice, but they are kind of locked behind mechanics that make the game unfun to play. Your character stops moving, when attacking, you can't charge attacks while moving and your parry STARTS the animation when you press the button, but it takes a split second to work. So most of the times you miss parries, because your muscle memory from other games works differently. Also while the idea with dark and lit areas is good on paper its implementation feels like the game is unnecessarily complex. It's just too slow. The game is a perfect example of "I totally understand every mechanic, but the fact that I have to relearn every otherwise natural character movement is not worth it."

Last i saw of this game there was a series lack of room variety. Watched wanderbot play and i saw a lot of the same rooms
I watched a playthrough of this game a while back and honestly that guy did a 1000% better job of selling the game and how awesome it is. Splat can be good, but sometimes he's 🙄

Its meh. It's got excellent gameplay but no lore. So even though I do enjoy the hell out of it, it feels hollow.

Hades or Risk of Rain 2 is probably the best Roguelikes in recent history in my opinion
