It's a love-hate thing, isn't it? People enjoy it so we want to do more, but also don't want to serve the nay-sayers. But that's awesome, if they're subscribing they're obviously enjoying you and what you're creating!
People will stick around if you change your content! I have over 500 paper craft videos on my channel which I did before jewelry. I agree more views equals more audience and there are always fart heads out there. If 1 out of every 1,000 people is a jerk and you have multiple thousands of views then you are going to come across a few meanies.. my largest craft video has somewhere over 100,000 views and there are like ONE HUNDRED thumbs down on it! Mind you there are always new people commenting and complaining about the video quality even though it was filmed and uploaded in 2016! Cameras were crap back then bahaha! You can't please everyone and often the things people complain about you have no control over anyway... just make the vids you like and people will watch!

Laura, I found you today through the Temu video, then watched the Shein video, then this one because I wanted to see if it was similar to another creator's experience. She was like you - lots of interests (very similar to yours, actually), and had a video go viral, and had similar problems because of it. I just subscribed, because I'm like you - lots of facets, and lots of interests. I like to learn about different things, and I have lots of subscriptions to niche channels that I don't watch very often because I have to be in the mood for that niche, or need to learn something specific. I think it's more likely that I'll watch a variety of your videos because of the variety you offer, and I need information on a lot of things. Don't let the negative get you down. 🙂 Now, I'll have to check some of those jewelry videos...

They have recently changed things, now if you have 3000 watch hours (within the past 365 days) and 500 subs, you can start getting super chats and things like that which are paid by the viewer. You are eligible for ad revenue at 4000 watch hours and 1000 subs. It took me almost 2 years to get 1000 subs. I was eligible then to be monetized (in 2022) but there was a discrepancy between my email and an old channel that used to be monetized. It's a long story but it didn't get sorted out until early this year.
I wouldn't say its viral unless its over a million views. On my old channel I used to get 20k+ views on every video, my best vid had 700,000 before I shut the channel down
IS that the definitive number that dictates when something is viral or is that just your own personal opinion? If its the latter, then it just proves that the term is relative.

We have all seen the kangaroo getting punched in the face, thats a viral vid. The one she is talking about is just a video that done well :)

Invariably, it suppresses the maker, who, in attempting to not offend viewers, begins to monitor how they express themselves, which erodes the personality that drew me to their channel in the first place. The content becomes diluted and generic and might as well be produced by AI.
how long did it take to get those views and how many subs did you have? Viral is pretty subjective, and relative to the size of the channel, how fast the views grew, and how many views. This one I'm talking about is going on 70,000 views in under three weeks on a channel that at the time of posting had just over 2000 subs.

Does one start to get monetized at 500 or 1000 subs?
How long did it take you to get 1000 subs?
They have recently changed things, now if you have 3000 watch hours (within the past 365 days) and 500 subs, you can start getting super chats and things like that which are paid by the viewer. You are eligible for ad revenue at 4000 watch hours and 1000 subs.
It took me almost 2 years to get 1000 subs. I was eligible then to be monetized (in 2022) but there was a discrepancy between my email and an old channel that used to be monetized. It's a long story but it didn't get sorted out until early this year.
If you want to make more money just make some ASMR videos of you doing the scratch testing, that'd be a good side niche to add to income

I wouldn't say its viral unless its over a million views. On my old channel I used to get 20k+ views on every video, my best vid had 700,000 before I shut the channel down
IS that the definitive number that dictates when something is viral or is that just your own personal opinion? If its the latter, then it just proves that the term is relative.
@@StevenPepperPot Apparently 5m+ is viral for youtube. I know how she feels when videos normally get a 500-1000 views and then one takes off but to call it viral is a stretch. We have all seen the kangaroo getting punched in the face, thats a viral vid. The one she is talking about is just a video that done well :)
@@hyperlogicstudios5271 I generally have an issue with people attempting to police content makers, over what they can/can't, should/shouldn't say or the terms they may use. Invariably, it suppresses the maker, who, in attempting to not offend viewers, begins to monitor how they express themselves, which erodes the personality that drew me to their channel in the first place. The content becomes diluted and generic and might as well be produced by AI.
how long did it take to get those views and how many subs did you have? Viral is pretty subjective, and relative to the size of the channel, how fast the views grew, and how many views. This one I'm talking about is going on 70,000 views in under three weeks on a channel that at the time of posting had just over 2000 subs.

WELL my friend, that turn of phrase is all we needed to see :) If you're going to be HYPER critical and nit pick then you should make sure that you're being grammatically correct when doing so ;) Her video DID well and relative to her channel, it went VIRAL and reached a much wider audience.
