- Captain Harlock (English Version)
Lyrics: Donald P. Berger
Music: Masaaki Hirao
Arranger: Seiji Yokoyama
Vocals: Isao Sasaki
Oh, the heaven is my sea,
the heav'n is my sea.
As I sail above the earth so bright,
I will always fight.
To protect our mother earth,
to save mother earth.
As I leap and fly into the sky,
all my foes will die.
I am strong and ever will be brave,
mankind oh, I will save.
I will die and turn to dust.
I will die if I must.
But I'll save the earth from ev'ry foe
and I'll sing as I go.
Oh, the wind or space is mine,
the heav'n is my brine.
I will sail in outer space above,
see the earth I love.
I will save the earth below
from each deadly foe.
I will climb into the stratosphere,
danger I'll not fear.
As I fly into the endless sky,
all danger will pass me by.
All along fight to the end.
I will fight to the end.
But I'll save the earth from ev'ry foe
and I'll sing as I go.
- Розваги
This is glorious, Isao Sasaki sings with such bravado!
Er ist eine Legende…
I have been puzzled by this and wonder if it was recorded when Toei was shopping the series around. I can picture American school children signing about going out while taking down their foes and horrifying their parents!
A fairly good translation of the original Japanese opener. I never knew this existed. By the way, are you ever going to be posting the English "The Red Scarf"? I ask because I'm making a Star Blazers/Yamato audio play, and I'd love to have that as my ending theme, as well as incidental music for a pivotal scene in my production (Derek/Susumu's wedding to Nova/Yuki---"their song" they share their first dance to).
Might be a bit late, but I have downloaded a youtube album (now removed) that contains that song. Do you still need it?
@@EdwardChan.999 Yes. I could use a good copy of The Red Scarf even though I canceled production on the audio play I was going to use it in.
I am also looking for that song.
This is also in The Space Pirate Captain Harlock - Eternal Edition CD collection.
that sounds very cool!!!
i always saw it as being connecred to grief
(its playing everywhere with alex wildstar, we will retun, etc)
I just can't hear the song right with these words. I hear the melody and think "tomo yo ashita no nai."
The lyrics are in the description. Re-listen to it while reading the lyrics.
thank you i was looking for this.
BEAUTIFUL
¡Es hermoso! Un himno♥️
Great song
i like it
It's a sad day for rain.
Where can I find a higher quality version of this?
Better than the English theme song of Captain Harlock's English dub.
Something is not right. That spaceship, humm.
It came from an album featuring entirety of (then) Leijiverse Anisongs sung in English, and not all songs are originally sung in Japanese by him. for example This VERY song is originally Mizuki Ichiro's one but I dunno why Isao got english version while Aniki doesn't (or can't Aniki sing full English songs by then?)
Songs from the Yamato OST my dude, its from the movie that has the harlock cameo.
@@AtticusRh0des Are you talking Mamoru Kodai in the 1977 compilation film? Because that movie didn't show him in a pirate uniform.
@@stararnold Are you sure that the aforemented movie is actually all 26 SBY episodes crammed into one theatre lenght movie? and is that movie shown Mamoru Kodai /Alex Wildstar alive on Iscandar and no 'Captain Harlock with hood'?
I've already read Cosmoship Yamato (All Three Volumes) and finished all three books recently (ones that have Jura special episode written in Vol 3, which actually SBY/Star Blazers EP15 as Leiji Matsumoto saw... Did you remember an episode with Aihara/Homer gettin' homesick and went nuts and none of the ship crew can stop him, he did earn his sense near the end of episode when he bumpted upon a satellite in his space suit (English dub called it 'Gamilon Sattelite' and strongly implied that the satellite is one of Gamilon/Gamilus 'weapons') and rescued shortly after.... Leiji Matsumoto viewed that Homer shouldn't be the only Yamato crew/Starforce member affected by such psychological disorders, in his 'Jura' episode, 'everyone' in the ship (Except Analyzer/IQ9, because he's robot) suffered even worse psychological disorder--hallucinated by each of personal worse nightmaires, i.e. Derek Wildstar/Susumu Kodai saw his dead brother, Alex/Mamoru and described the post mortem as being cold, lonely, 'no up and down, no beginning, no end' and warned that Yamato voyage will fail and the entire crew will join him in afterlife, Captain Avatar/Okita also saw Alex in his hallucinations as well, except that he was leading the ghosts of Avatar's deceased subordinates to demand that he should die. Such hallucinations were the works of a duo of different alien women, whom turned out to be one of Desslok/Dessler's former concubines exiled along with her kid )
That ain't Arcadia that's Yamato...
They got the damn wrong ship!
Thats what cd the song is on, Harlock has a cameo in the movie.
Wait the yamato was sunk at okenowa
@@AtticusRh0des How can Harlock have a cameo in the movie since A. The 1977 movie is a non-canon recap and B. Yamato and Harlock/GE999 take place in spearete universes
@@kirukato05_official39 Leiji Matsumoto tried to merge the two settings into one. particularly in 90s-Early 2000s when SBY franchise was his. He even had the same Space Yamato in Galaxy Express 999 Manga, and even in Cosmowarrior Zero PS2 Game (Isao Sasaki also a narrator AFAIK)
Is this a cover or the original opening on english was this ? I'm asking because I'm hispanic
No this is the Japanese artist singing in eng I believe. We got a weird disco rock song that sounds like it was sung by rush. And the French version. This would of been amazing. But the eng version was handeled very badly. French was the only way to go and that was called albator.
SUBLIME
wRONG BACKGROUND
In truth, it's the correct cover, since the song was released on this album, along with Yamato's songs. As a curiosity, the Galaxy Express 999 songs were also released on this LP.
Bruno A. Vieira themes? Msybe them?
Sorry for my mistake. The comment was revised.
@@BrunoAVieira tell me the name of this alubm please. is it dedicated entirely to Leiji Matsumoto's works of that era. (Space Battleship Yamato (1974) is regarded as one of his works thorough it is now owned by Nishizaki family) ?
This shit slap
Hair Dessler!
Hail*
Nuts!
Ghale Dessler!
Or, you know, the space pirate.
@@anitamihholap5926 hehe Mamoru
なんとマジンガーZだけでなく、ハーロックにもささきいさおさんの英語版が存在したのですね!
水木さんは英語苦手だったのでしょうか?ちょっとかわいそうな気がします。
Are you saying that Isao Sasaki got this because Aniki can't sing a full english song?
@@DiscothecaImperialis
Since Mr.Sasaki sang rockabilly in the old days, I think English is still good. However, it is the truth that I want them to sing only to the representative songs of Mr. Mizuki.
sound like german speaking
I'm sorry, but this theme is simply too "on the nose" simplistic and obvious. It almost sounds like some North Korean military chant taught to children. I prefer the American version called Take to the Sky. That was funky and cool AF.
Sometimes, you should just listened this thing as the orginal japanese voice...
Ugh just listened to take to the sky, that was horrible.
