Today is a special one... we are traveling all the way back home for a special surprise... A MAZDA MIATA!! My friends bought this junked spec miata for a very special reason... to bring it back AND RACE IT! this weekend we are racing the spec miata at the 24 hours of Lemons endurance race! today, we practiced and got the car set up and ready to go.

Hi Haters 👋 I’m glad to see we are moving in the right direction and hope to add more hater tears to the tank. Some facts for the rational viewers out there:
Dut knew virtually nothing about the car or lemons and showed up for the weekend ready to help and race not knowing if the car would blow in practice or what we were getting into like a true bro.
The guys we bought the car from put together a solid car, but it is definitely not professionally built or some kind of high power build or spec Miata. It had been sitting for a while. It’s got some nice parts, but I don’t think we even ended up in the top half of all Miatas. It’s a 30yr old, gutted, almost 200k mile Miata… it would be considered junk to almost any average citizen NPC. Obviously to us and the average viewer of this channel will think it’s cool so I will give dut a hard time about saying junkyard cause that’s a little harsh and clickbaity haha.
Overall it was the most fun weekend I’ve had in a long time and worth every penny. Would highly recommend anyone pull some friends together and go racing. Lemons forums and Facebook pages is where we found this car ready to go. Or build your own. Hope we can do it again soon. ✌️

Build a Budget race car like a little MX5 and do some more of these races as a lot of people can relate because we don’t all have huge budget to put into the race card. How about doing a video how to show someone building a good Reliable fun. Track car will be a great series to watch

I am at minute 14:48 and I'm thinking this is going to be a hell of a race series and another notch of experience on your belt and a good way to coach new comers to racing. Dustin, when it starts to feel least bit stale, you manage to spice up your channel with some creative stuff like this. Looking forward to this, and what other adventures in racing come from it.
When you and Tianna get a Miata, just my personal thought, but would you and her build it like the BMW? The Miata could be built first with suspension, breaks, etc. handling mods, and once that's sorted out, add power N/A or F/I. I think a 1.8 might be a better choice.
With this race it makes me think of some of the races the famous Hunter S. Thompson would cover. I really wish I could be there covering you and your friends race in the same Gonzo Journalist style that Dr. Hunter S. Thompson would.

Megasquirt is an old school, universal, open source standalone ECU. Was really popular in my DSM days. You can usually buy preassembled kits with different features, or buy all the pieces and put it together yourself. Definitely nostalgic for me haha
Megasquirt is pretty easy to use too, especially for a beginner in my opinion. Lots of vids out there explaining the basics

To be clear: I have no information on the car.
To their knowledge, this car wasn’t professionally built.
I also never called it junk. I said it was going to get junked. The previous owners let it sit for months before my friends purchased the car.
It’s a lemons race, not that serious.
@@dustiinw that's one of our teammates who has won championships with us. That car never would have been scrapped. We sold it due to other race car projects. Shoot if it comes back up for sale I told them we want first refusal as it's a nice race car. Super nice Bsi cage. That car has the mods where it counts. But it's never run spec Miata. It started life as a street car and was turned into a lemons race car. It's won a lucky dog season championship in 2022 as well as a 2nd overall at the 2020 cmp full 24 hour lemons race.
Shoot we ran it at Road America and finished 18th out of 139 last October and was on plan to race it here at CMP in April.
