Friends and acquaintances that know my musical tastes seem astonished when I put The Heart Throbs in my top 10 of all time bands hint: Jethro Tull, Yes, Renaissance, and Pink Floyd are in there) but they've simply passed the test of time for me. I STILL listen to them FREQUENTLY. I recently downsized my CD collection, and put everything on digital… But I kept their entire collection. 💯 I simply love them. I've never grown tired of listening to them. And oddly I don't know very much about them at all. I love all three of their full albums they've released, even the last one, vertical smile, which some people seem disappointed in. I thought it was a masterpiece. I was in the UK a while back, and I met a guy who had seen them live in the early days. I was so jealous.
Love love love The Heart Throbs. "Britpop" 5 years too soon.Cleopatra Grip is one of my all time favorite albums. In Vain and White Laughter two of my favorite tracks of all time. Like all good music, it has a particular place in my heart for the person who I was at a certain time, and I can still appreciate now.
Every album incredible. A totally overlooked Brit band from the late 80's and early 90's. Seemed to get zero support from their labels for touring, marketing, etc. I try to look up what Rose has been up to but there is ZERO info out there. Still listening to them 30 years later. Love and respect.
I keep trying to find out anything about Rose, if she still makes music but can't find anything. Absolutely loved the heart throbs and still do. These sessions are fantastic too.
@@herbieshine1312 Yes, I'm not sure there are many of us left! They were my favorite brit band back in the day and today. Surprisingly how little info out there....maybe Rose is on FB...I don't Insta or Tweet so maybe she's there? Just hope she and the band know what a positive impact they had on a guy from Colorado.
@@curtisgile6616 i tried to look them up on FB too, no info on their fan pages about what theyve been upto, I suspect the Desfreitas sisters completely abandoned commercial music after they disbanded, there is no info on any activity after that. The only personal info that ive come across is that their brother who was in Echo and Bunnymen died a few yrs ago. Hope they're all doing good! Thanks for the music Rose if u're reading this!
@@dheerajbw "A few years ago" - it was 1989 that Pete passed away. Rachel left the band relatively early on. Last I heard was that she had an art gallery in the Brighton area but that was some time ago. Rose was working for the National Trust or English Heritage or someone like that. But this is old (and vague!) info. Basically, they're long out of the music biz so entitled to keep their lives private.
@@hoagy_ytfc thanks for responding mate, i appreciate the info! I actually dug up info on Rose successfully, she apparently still works at Oxford's archaeology mueseum, and seems to be living a quite n peaceful life, and deservingly so. These people and their music have brought so much joy in my life, will always be indebted to them for that. Cheers!
