Also look at how well and thought out the 2017 Xmas John Lewis ad is. This one forgoes the whimsical and sugar-coated version of Christmas that EVERYONE else does and decides to talk about things that real people can actually identify with. Anyone who's wrapped presents knows the frustration of losing the end of the sticky tape. Families playing games or singing, even if they're terrible at it. Instead of giving us a fairy-tale Christmas ad, it reminds us that Christmas is mundane. It's just a day. It's the people you spend it with that make it special.

I think this advert is ... ok, but it pales in comparison to the previous years. 2016: Although the C.G.I was a bit odd in some places and i'm not James Corden's biggest fan, It was still unique and fun and resonated with so many people; being unable to be with your family at Christmas. 2015: By far the best Sainsburys advert I.M.O The animation was impeccable, especially with the smooth physics and weather effects. It was composed like a short film and acted like one, without trying too hard. The story was good and had a good message. 2014: This advert was a homage to the start of WW1 and the famous Christmas that followed. The link to a family was very prevalent and the typography and cinematography were outstanding, along with the sound. It showed us the connection all of us have and have had, for over 100 years. And this one, oof. The colour isolation tech that Sainsbury's have been doing has never been appealing to me, and has surprised me that they're still doing it. The odd webcam-style angles just disturb me and do not give off the homely type of feeling that I assume Sainsbury's were going for. And I mean, the C.G.I food parts are also ok but do not compliment or fit with anything else at all. Christmas adverts in the U.K have now moulded into a way to express a story, and remind us of the important things this Christmas. And this attempts to do this, I think, but falls flat on its face. Sainsburys is still one of my favourite shops and always has been, the prices compared to quality is good and the staff is always super friendly, but this advert just isn't as good, just my opinion.

I dread to think how much Sainsburys paid for this advert. Didn't ANYONE at Head Office watch it before allowing it to be shown on national television? Surely it cannot have been created by the same Company that made the excellent WW1 advert a couple of years ago?

Is this the real Sainsbury's advert or one of those spoof ones put together by someone else? As a sixth media project it works well. As an advert from Sainsbury's who usually do well it's a disappointment.
