Karate Sei with a little splash of Dou. Because I analyze my opponent before I go all in and fight like a Dou in that regard. I prefer defense and evasion/redirection over being offensive and brutally strong. Doesn't mean I can't be though. After all, one tempers the other and vice versa. 👍🙂

If you read James DeMeos (from USA) website you can find out, why the isolated Ego gives some aggressive and egocentric raw strength in short terms but does not give real inner strength and sustainable psychic development of the soul in long terms. Because real inner psychic strength of the soul comes from psychic roots of the soul in tradition and spirtuality and nature and culture, whereform you can draw real inner strength and energy and balance and harmony and hold and holdness and stability.
The aggressive egoists and egomaniacs and egocentrics do cut off their psychic roots of their soul and get isolated and loose their roots and get blinded by their ego.

I noticed that also that Anthony gets very little screen time. I don't think he was in the 2nd Season at all till the last episode. I thought they might have done to him what they did to Chuck who was Richie's Cunningham's older Brother. They just wrote him out of the show without any explanation. Later, the father would say that he had 2 Children.
I predict though that the Daniel's son will become an important part of Cobra Kai. I think the evil Cobra Kais wil bullying him knowing he is Daniel LaRusso's son. He will then be forced to take Karate. I wouldn't be surprised that in a Mirror Version of Robbie- he will take Karate from a Cobra Kai. Perhaps, Bobby the Original Cobra Kai or Johnny himself. Maybe Daniel will be so upset what Robbie did in seriously wounding MIguel, that he would have sworn off teaching Karate.
Remeber, a lot of other characters in Cobra Kai started out as either very Unheroic or very unlikable like Robbie. And their characters turned around. I think the same thing will happen to Daniel's son.

When Tory grabs the microphone of the School's PA system, and says that she's "coming to get" Sam, it is a reference to the scene in Rambo II where Rambo makes the same threat to Murdock. The reason for this Easter Egg is that Martin Kove was not only in Rambo II, he was in that scene. The reason for the Over The Top reference was because Stallone's character in that movie is named Lincoln Hawk.

@Jim Harol Just google them. Bobby, the pastor, was the one from the original that told Johnny “he’s had enough” when they ganged up on Daniel in the skeleton costumes, Tommy, the one that died, was the one that said “get him a body bag” at the tournament. Unfortunately the actor really did pass away from cancer a few months after filming that episode. Which is why he looked so rough. The one with the flowers at the hospital didn’t really have a huge part in the original, but he was there on the bikes, you have to look close in the original movie.

The title of S2E6, "Take A Right", is actually a reference to one of Tommy's first lines in KK1: "Take a right, check it out!" I never would have noticed it myself if not for someone in the comments of that episode pointing it out.
I also noticed, and this one's seriously reaching, but at the skating rink when Miguel tries to go to Sam to apologize, she asks him coldly, "What do you want?" and it sounds just like when Ali says the same thing to Daniel in the 2nd trip to Golf N' Stuff.

    • @KaneRobot

The ending was gut wrenching and it leaves questions: Would that mean that the cobra kai students would run the school and torment the Miyagi-do students? Will Miguel ever fully recover from that spine fracture? If Miyagi-do is gone, how can they survive? If Ali comes back, then what? Would Carmen forgive Johnny? Can Johnny and Daniel set aside their difference and make a new dojo to take down Kresse's Cobra Kai?

This is a great video, thank you for posting! I also have two more VERY subtle ones...
    1. When Johnny has the cement mixer turning and asks them if they think winning the tournament makes them badass and he says "That don't mean squat!". That's a direct reference to the first film when the skeletons are beating Daniel and Bobby says "look at him Dutch, he can't even stand up!" and Dutch replies, "Yeah, that don't mean squat!"
    2. And this may be a reach but I'm curious to know anyone else's views here. I think there was a very subtle reference to Julie from Next Karate Kid. When Daniel is teaching Robby and Samantha the Wheel Technique, he said it's been a long time since Miyagi Do had more than one student. WHEN did Miyagi do have more than one? The only thing I can think of is he's referring to Julie who must have trained with Miyagi past the film and then when Daniel came back from college perhaps the two of them trained together for a while? We know Daniel continued training with Miyagi after he came back from college, so perhaps there was some time when Daniel and Julie trained together. After all, the Wheel Technique IS a two-person technique. Could this be a reference or inclusion of Julie?

Here is a theory just wanted to run it by you all in the chat. Kreese took over Cobra Kai and he mentioned Johnny's landlord, so which means he took over by signing papers to pay the rent and ect... Now the show made it clear that Kreese was homeless and broke. Where did he get the money? Now let's see in Karate Kid III Terry Silver bank rolled Kreese to start Cobra Kai and even helped him open it again with Mike Barnes... Now does this mean Terry Silver backed Kreese again, or possibly Mike Barnes... Also did you catch in Cobra Kai season I where Johnny after the lady mistakenly thought Johnny called her a, "B****"" Johnny argues with a guy on the phone about the incident and gets fired. Did anyone notice Johnny before hanging up said, "You owe me money, Mike" could that be Mike Barnes? Just a thought, can't wait until season 3!!!!!!!

That was some bullshit. I mean don't get me wrong, I understand their reasoning for immediately distancing themselves from Daniel who inserted himself into an argument between Alli and Johnny and got the crap kicked out of him for his troubles, then again distanced themselves from him on the soccer yard when he tried to talk to them, so it made absolutely no sense on the part of the writers to show them cheering for him at the end when they'd had no other interactions.

The Cobra Kai students were chanting it as they jogged past Daniel, Mr. Miyagi, and Allli at the tournament, then Alli shouted "Why don't you guys grow up" at them. Thanks for giving the background on Goju-Ryu, that's all accurate. Only thing I'd add is that Chojun Miyagi traveled to China and returned with a lot of kung fu mastery, especially crane/Wing Chun style and mixed it with Naha Te, their local style of fighting to form Goju-Ryu. Mr. Miyagi talked about this and mixing gung fu with Te(Naha being the specific type of Te, being implied here), so it's all woven into the originals, too. That's also why Miyagi has always had a bit of an old Chinese master vibe.

Well done sir! I love your comedic elements. I too noticed Mr "Get him a bodybag" being zipped into one. THAT was funny and sad. Had to make a quick correction at 15:20. "You're the inspiration" was Chicago and while Cetera WAS the lead singer at that time, it wasn't a solo song like "Glory of Love". I'm totally diggin' these characters and the arcs the writers are taking them on. You want some to stay the course and they do... mostly. Then they go "off script" and do something dumb (for the character) like Robbie continuing to fight after clearly being beaten by Miguel after remembering Robbie's dad's words about showing mercy, then Robbie proceeds to kick Miguel over the rail causing a nasty injury that only the writers will be able to tell us if he'll come back from. I can't wait for Season 3. They need to add more episodes, meter them out, or just do multiple seasons a year. I'd be cool with a spring and fall seasons with 10 episodes each. Thanks again. You've got my subscription.

They were his old gang maybe, sure, but I think they weren't on speaking terms after the two beat the shit out of Robbie in front on LaRusso Auto when he managed to trick them with the cameras. He knew to go after them because he'd been part of their group before and knew immediately what was going on. Tory was an idiot to brag about "going around and stealing everyone's wallets." That's why Sam got so angry and went right after her and accused her of taking her mom's wallet. Tory obviously doesn't have a very strong moral code, and happily stole the vodka, is it so out of the realm of possibility that she'd follow up on her other thoughts as well? Robbie is horribly wrong in lying about the medal of honor, but he approaches Samantha near the end and gives a full confession: "It was me, I buried it out there after Miguel returned it because I was jealous and didn't want him scoring points with you." Trust me, that's a very difficult thing to do.
So many of you guys are quick to rag on Daniel for "butting into the affairs of Johnny and Ali" in the first movie, but it's ok when Miguel does it to Robbie and Sam? Also, a lot of you guys laughed and cheered when Miguel "showed no mercy" and exploited Robbie's injured arm and won the tournament. Now suddenly it's dishonorable bullshit when Robbie shows "no mercy" and kicks Miguel's ass and seriously hurts him? This is what no mercy gets you, guys. This is why it's bad.
Daniel reformed Robbie, I think. He's a good dude now, and he's trying his best. He comes from an absolute shit family and an absolute shit situation. I love both him and Miguel and cringed every time they hit each other in that fight, and was so upset when Robbie did what he did to Miguel. He was furious about getting hit so much, jealous about Miguel kissing Sam, and full of hate because he thought Miguel "took advantage" of drunk Sam. It was horrible what he did, but you have to also see his side of things. The fight was wrong to begin with, Miguel and Robbie should have been working together to stop Sam and Tory from fighting, but misunderstanding after misunderstanding made the whole situation worse, and poor Miguel paid the ultimate price for it.

@@nessadvantage9447 First scene he was in Principals office really giving Johnny a hard time. Off on a tricky foot but Daniel is turning him around. Still a way to go as the Medal of Honour thing goes and at the end his only issue was he didn't let the fight die down though there's also some bad luck because it could have easily been Hawk or someone else getting that badly injured

Here's a few that I can think of that you possibly missed :
    1. Tory ( Homage to the Saved By The Bell character Tori Scott played by Leanna Creel )
    2. 80's Night Episode
    - John Bender ( The Breakfast Club )
    - Prince
    - Freddie Mercury
    3. Tory and Miguel Airplane scene ( 10:36 PM was a homage to the line spoken by Big Worm in the movie Friday played by Faizon Love )
    4. Carmen Fantasy Scene ( Homage to Flashdance )
    5. Robby finding the drawings he did for Johnny was a homage to how Mike found his dad's letters in Over The Top.

The music played during the training montage you referenced was an homage to Bloodsport. Why didn't you mention that?

The Revenge of the Nerds references are possibly because Larry B. Scott who played Lamar in ROTN, was in Karate Kid 1 and is one of the first competitors to lose to Daniel LaRusso in the film's finale.

I wondered if anyone else noticed that. HIMYM is presumably the reason this show exists and it was neat to see that reference whether it was intentional or not.

StoryDive It’s my understanding that the “Tory Schwarber” name was simply a caption that a fan attached to a publicity photo of Tory/Peyton List a couple of months ago, but it went viral and took on a life of its own.
