Part XXII: From The Bay to Kyoto, Day Two | Ollie Odyssey Japan Vol. 2

The middle arc of this Kyoto hangout is here! The following day, I again headed back to Kyoto in the afternoon, this time with Yoko. We met up with Eric and Christina near their hotel, which is right by Kyoto train station. The thing about main Japan stations is that they are huge and even with a map, figuring out where to go or how to get through it can be quite a task. We eventually found them after having to basically traverse through a maze to get to the other side of the station and headed off to Nijo Castle, one of the first places I stopped into the first night in Kyoto from months ago. Unfortunately, they didn't accept entries one hour before closing time, so we couldn't get in (they were able to get in the next day, so it wasn't missed). We decided to head on over to the Kyoto Imperial Palace, a place I hadn't visited before. Even though the inner palace grounds were no longer open, the surrounding garden area is quite massive and pleasant way to spend the day with some seriously serene settings. We took a long walk around, chit-chatted, and took some silly video along the way. We honestly didn't get to see or do a lot because of the late start, but some quality time was spent with these important people in my life and that's all I can ask for.
