This was my best friend Dave's favorite song. He passed away from open heart surgery on Dec 21 2022. We were friends since 1974. I miss and love ya Dave. See ya when God calls me home ole friend.
RIP, Jim Croce and band mate Maury. You both are greatly missed, just wanted to write your names and remember you both out of respect for you and your music. Been a fan since I was a baby at three years-old.
“They can change their minds but they can’t change me I got a dream” where would this gifted man be today? What others jewels would he have produced? We’re left to only wonder and guess.
this song takes away all the pain and sorrow we face everyday in life, even tough it's only a for a few minutes, it is one of the greatest inspirational songs ever !! thanks jim
Yes Will, we have a name. Stand tall and seek to understand yourself and others. And aspire to apply love more and more as you live toward greater gentle awareness
this this beautiful gem of a tune is me this is me in a major way because I love going on the road and just love going fishing and camping and hiking the road takes you were ever you want to go it,s and adventure and journey all in one big part of my life and I enjoy it whole heartedlly no question about Jim my brother rest in eternal love peace everyone.
Thank you for the on-screen lyrics, so accurate, many sites gave patent mishearings in the lyrics they offer and, as a plus, your video has amazing sound quality!
This song was not written by Jim Croce. The music was by Charles Fox and the lyrics were by Norman Gimbal. The song was written for the movie The Last American Hero and the writers had Jim in mind when they wrote it. When asked to sing the song Jim jumped at the chance because he could personally relate to it. The producers intentionally held up the song because Bad Bad Leroy Brown was still high on the charts. Sadly it was the last song Jim performed at Northwestern State University in Louisiana before his untimely death on September 20, 1973. The song was released the following day. Still one my favorites because like many others I can also relate to this song. Thank you Jim Croce and may you Rest In Peace.
Back when music and lyrics were usually by the same person. Fortunately they could write a song without using the F word 50 times and without violence towards women and police and whomever. It was a different time and I am glad I grew up on sixties and seventies music Thank God...
Transcendental, you're somewhere else when this comes on.
