@@Spartan1312 supposedly when the Sword is bathed in Sacred power the Base strength of the sword grows and the Sword has a charge for the "Glint" where the power can be emitted at a distance. (In the older games this included throwing energy blades at a distance when you were at full health, I assume that Link was taking the power burden of throwing those? He could power magic in those games without stress)
So lets say the Swords base damage to "Evil" was 100 and the base physical damage was 100 and the glint emits the Anti Evil damage at 500% (600 total). Then when it was bathed in holy flames each added base of both at 25 leaving the swords base damage at 175 and 175 or when the glint is active 875 and 175 (1050 total). Between games the sword recovers then gains power when bathed in Sacred power for a period of time (first going to repair durability loss and recharge before going into the permanent damage) and we have a time frame for the repair but no noticeable growth, 100 years.
Durability loss seems to increase and the battery capacity seems to decrease each time the Sword hits Gloom or other corruption and the Sword doesn't seem to recover those stats when it is repairing or improving. All of this implies that the Sword will keep improving damage and losing defense as encounters with Demise keep happening, enough encounters and Demise's whole goal in fighting Link will be "Break the Sword before I get hit as it'll one shot me but is fragile"

When Rauru imprisoned Ganondorf underneath Hyrule castle, Ganondorf's power began to slowly build back up and return to him. Rauru's magic-draining hold over him was only temporary. So by the time we got to BotW, Ganon had regained enough energy back to be able to 'remote control' Divine beasts and Guardians and his malice was spreading across the land. Weapons also broke for the first time in any Zelda game - they had a bit of durability but they were weakened compared to previous Zelda games. Malice was harmful to the touch but people who came into contact with it could still use regular foods and elixirs to recover from it. And although Link and Zelda were victorious in defeating Calamity Ganon, they did not destroy the source that puppet's energy, still hidden underneath the castle.
So by the time we reached TotK, Ganon's power had grown even more potent. Malice was amplified into Gloom and Gloom prevents people who come into contact with from being able to heal themselves (unless they are lucky enough to find a cure made from Sundelions). And immediately when the upheaval began, all weapons became decayed (even worse than their brittle form in BotW). Ganon had never been able to destroy the Master Sword previously or even other weapons across the land in such a way. So what changed that? The Secret Stone he stole. It was slowly amplifying his regular power over the years. It's natural for the Master Sword's energy to wane but Ganon was only able to shatter it with the help of his Secret Stone.
In the next Zelda sequel if Ganon re-incarnates into a new body again, he will not have that stone so maybe we won't see breakable weapons next time around. Maybe we'll see a race between new Ganondorf and Link's descendant to acquire Triforce pieces, since that relic was absent in both recent games.

I think that the Master Sword can never be truly destroyed. We've never seen the hilt harmed, and Breath of the Wild introduced the idea of it not working, but I would prefer to believe that that's more gameplay than lore, as is a lot of the weapons breaking. In Tears of the Kingdom, although the blade is broken, it still endures, even though Link's whole arm was covered and it could have touched all of it, the hilt was not tarnished at all, nor was anything under the triforce symbol on the blade (which arguably references it being bathed in the sacred flames of the goddesses. I think that because of it being empowered by the creators of the world, it can't be truly destroyed, only damaged, and when Zelda repairs it or the sages bless it, it's more like its figurative battery being charged, as it's reminded of its divine purpose and reconnected to the goddess Hylia and can draw from her power to defeat evil. In fact, it's like a more high-level version of how it acts in Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, it will return eventually. Clearly, it gets some of this charge from its spot in Korok forest, but I think that it's only broken in Tears of the Kingdom because it's taken a lot of abuse and hasn't had much time to recharge, and also hasn't had as direct a source of power. My reason for believing this is because it actually stands up to gloom that fully destroys one of Link's heart containers just fine when you use it to fight Ganon, and can even redirect his gloom attacks, purifying them into light attacks that damage him.

English vowel rotation. /iː/ at some point mutated into /aj/. Fi is directly named after the Greek letter Φ/φ, whose name in English is usually pronounced as /faj/ because of the aforementioned rotation, but in most languages, and sometimes in English, it's pronounced closer to /fiː/ (close to English "fee").

I guess if you think about the Master sword as a divine relic, then it would make sense (at least to me) that over time, the less people that still believe in and directly pray to the Goddesses that were directly involved in its creation- the less potent that power becomes as time goes on. In the BotW/TotK time period we've reached so far in the future that the only divine diety that anyone truly prays to is Hylia herself. And while she has a lot of specific powers and holy energy, it was not her power alone that created the master sword. She was the creator of the Goddess blade and Fi; the basic foundation of the master sword itself, and the least powerful form that lacked the holy energy to purge pure evil. It took all three of the Golden Goddesse's very essence to purify and transform the Goddess blade into the master sword, and then Hylia herselfs blessing to fully awaken it into the blade with the power to purge evil.
So in my opinion and theorizing head, I believe that as the entirety of Hyrule eventually moved on from the worship of the three Golden Goddesses to specifically only Hylia herself or regional deities that probably originate from historical events (like the Gerudo women), the blade has been perpetually losing its inherit power to counter act evil- because no one has been praying for the Golden goddesses protection to uphold their contributions to the blade. That could explain why in Wind waker the master sword is all but useless on Evil beings without the two sages of wind and Earth eternally praying to the heavens for the blade to maintain its power. The blade itself essentially reverted to a dormant state reminiscing of the unawakened master sword from SS- including retracting it's hilts fins inward, and blackening the golden gem. But in Wind waker the one thing the sword could still do despite it's evil repelling power being gone was to manipulate time and seal away most of Ganon's powers while in its pedestal. The power of time belonging to Hylia, and potentially linkable to her ability to seal Demise temporarily.

That's an interesting theory worth considering but i should point out that as shown in this scene right: 3:20 as long as you have the _full Triforce_ in your possession you can use the _omnipotent_ power of the 3 Golden Goddesses to reforge and "recharge" to it's full power just as it was when Link first imbued the Goddess Sword with the 3 Sacred Flames to transform it into the Master Sword. Since this Zelda is most definetly in possession of the full Triforce all it took was for her to empower it with the goddesses's Light so it would regain it's full power once more.

@@javiervasquez625 It's *probably* more complicated than that. Zelda becomes a dragon in truth, but the memories you collect as part of the Geoglyph quest probably represent the parts of her she has to shed in order to become a Dragon.
She has to be a Dragon in truth in order to get back to the present day. Even if she could somehow "leap" back with her time powers, she can't because her sacrifice is necessary to repair and empower the Master Sword, and becoming the Dragon is the only way to both increase her Light Power and guard/restore the blade.

@@alexmulder1145 I actually kind of subscribe to the idea that the Rito could have been around at least since OoT, just not involved in the events of the game and outside of the playable map. When you look at their culture in BotW and TotK, they are fairly self-sufficient and seemingly the most removed from the rest of Hyrule (apart from the Gerudo), which makes sense as the Goron mines and Zora River would be important resources to Hyrule Kingdom, but the Rito don't have anything like that to offer. I've always suspected that the Hyrulian Civil War of pre-OoT is when the King of Hyrule became the 'sworn-brother' of Darunia and that the mines and smiths of Death Mountain would have been where Hyrule sourced its weapons and armor during the war. This could also help to explain the presence of Dodongos Cavern as a dungeon in OoT, not only as a food source for the gorons, but a means by Ganondorf to prevent that kind of trade and alliance should his plan of false fealty to Hyrule's King fail. Anyway, that's all to say that the Rito could be around and while the Hyrule Historia does confirm that the Rito evolved from the Zora in Wind Waker, there's always that niggly thing of "This is the information as we know it now, but as our understanding of the series evolves, so does its history." It has always been the most controversial thing about Wind Waker, something that can be hand waved away but always raises questions. The koroks 'evolving' from the Kokiri doesn't carry the same problem as, being 'forest fairies', their magical, fantastical, nature feels self-evident. Plus, I have my own little theory that the Koroks are not an evolution but the true form of the Kokiri, with their fairies in OoT masking them to appear closer to Hylian children so that Link could be raised in their society before the events of OoT. We've seen the Rito and Zora sharing Hyrule now, so it's not out of the question if we apply the same logic backwards to Wind Waker. Sure, we don't see the Zora, but in Twilight Princess there was a sense of secretiveness about their society. In fact, even in OoT, their home isn't accessible to Hylians outside the royal bloodline (or at least anyone who knows Zelda's Lullaby).
All that said, I don't necessarily subscribe to the particular theory I commented here earlier, but it's fun to speculate. I personally don't think anyone has hit the nail on the head yet and it may yet take time. There's still some interesting speculation to be made about details like Ganondorf as the Demon King raising his army with the backdrop of what appears to be the 'Breach of Demise' location between Central Hyrule and the Hebra Region, for example. Could this imply that Ganondorf came to be known as Demise in legends between Rauru's era and the current time of TotK? In the japanese version of Skyward Sword, Demise is known as the 'Bringer of Demise'. So perhaps it evolved from the Demon King to Demise and later 'The (bringer of) Calamity', leading to 'Calamity Ganon'. All speculation, of course, and I've gotten sidetracked again, but while I'm on the topic, I do think it would be interesting to speculate on how far apart each memory is. I suspect Zelda was in that time for quite a while when putting the memories together with events told from the translated monuments, implying the war lasted quite some time, and given that we don't see the slow build up of Phantom Zelda/Ganon trying to gain Sonia's trust before Ganondorf steps in to take Sonia's secret stone. To me, there is an implied gap between that memory and the next with the raising of the demon armies.
My best guess/theory with what we know so far, without really having fleshed out the details, is that Rauru's time is set before Skyward Sword (despite the founding of Hyrule, I know, I know), but I'm really taken with this idea I had that Zelda could have been a stand in for or misconstrued through legend as the Goddess Hylia, having helped Mineru raise the sky islands and create a cloud barrier. Mineru's spirit powers are reminiscent of Fi as the spirit of the Goddess Sword, and Zelda demonstrates greater power than Sonia when aiding Rauru to destroy the Moldugas. The Third eye motif on Rauru and Mineru are likely what inspired the Sheikah Symbol, so again the idea that Zelda was viewed as a goddess and the successors to the Zonai, the Sheikah, swear themselves to Hylia. And although Zelda takes on an immortal form, opposite to Hylia taking on a mortal form, there's a beautiful kind of parallel/mirroring symmetry there I like. Plus some sources do state that there was a Hyrule before the ascention into the sky. The other problem I'm all too aware of is Ganondorf coming before/being Demise which I know people hate, myself somewhat included, except to point out that the wording of Demise's curse could actually imply that he didn't set it in motion, but rather that, being a conqueror of time (let's not forget Ganondorf stole Sonia, the Sage of Time's, secret stone, hm?), he perceives that due to the actions of Hylia (or Zelda, or more technically Rauru, in this theory), they are forever bound in said cycle. Another thought I just had is the fact that the Skyloftians (just wanna put it out there that TotK neither says nor doesn't say that anyone went up with the sky islands) have the tradition of the sailcloth, which influenced the idea of the paraglider but in my realm of speculation could be seen as Zelda's stories of her and link being passed as Tradition as the world waits for the right Link/Hero. Also, Mineru repeats many times refering to Link as 'Zelda's Chosen Swordsman', similar to the phrase 'Hylia's Chosen Hero'. And lastly, as far as I've thought about it, while the Temple of Time doesn't resemble the Forgotten Temple/Temple of Time from Skyward Sword, the size of thst particular sky island and having a big monument like the Temple of Time does harken back to Skyloft itself, and the clouds surrounding the Rito dungeon in TotK is reminiscent of where Link learns his first harp song in Skyward Sword.

Of course, this is bound to change in some way with Trial of the Sword 2 being inevitable, but in that case, you'll have definitely earned it. The sacred tear amplifies the user's power. If Ganondorf inherited Demises evil power, then the amplified power of the gloom can definitely break the Master Sword. I also wonder if the tear was attached to the Master Sword, then that should theoretically amplify her sacred power. I'd like to see Link use the tear himself and see what effect it would have on a Master Swordsman. Maybe godlike stamina, more strength and resilience.

One thing to keep in mind with the master sword is also the severity of the damage it suffered. In BoTW after links "death", we see the sword chipped and dulled. If we were to make a human analogy it would be the same as a human having cuts and bruises, typical injuries from battle. However, in ToTK we see the Master Sword with not a damaged blade, but a DESTROYED blade. The sword was infected with the gloom and the blade was eroded then completely shattered.
To repair the sword from such extreme damage would require FAR more than just the ambient sacred power found in the korok forest, it would need extreme levels of direct saturation in sacred power to fully restore and strengthen the blade.
This whole element is the same theme we experience with link in ToTK. He suffered severe, degrading, and life threatening injuries from the gloom. Rauru himself said the only thing that saved links life was replacing his gloom-infested arm with Raurus arm, however link would have to spend a great deal of time journeying to the various shrines the retrieve the Blessing of Lights so he could use them to restore his lost strength.
The Master Sword suffered extreme damage that would be utterly beyond repair were it an ordinary sword. It sends itself back in time with the help of the power of the Temple of Time to fall into the hands of Zelda. Zelda then sacrificed herself to exponentially increase her sacred power so she could transfer it to the sword to provide sufficient power to restore the sword. However the damage it suffered was severe and the only option was to use that sacred power to replace the blade were it was destroyed and gradually use the power of light to regain its power.

As you finish the tutorial and get the door open in the temple of time you get to see the dragon one last time, only after the master sword gets sent back in time. I can't help but believe that these new developments (I say new, but it's been over a decade) in the Master Sword's attributes, behaviors, and significance are the result in being a different sword, not in a literal sense but in who has made decisions regarding it. From 1991 through 2006, the Master Sword had fairly consistently been known as the sword crafted by the ancient sages in order to combat the greatest evil and seal it away, not so much destroy. Since 2011, though, the sword has taken on a new backstory, new attributes, and new significance, now being known as the blade forged by the goddess and tempered by her chosen hero, with sentience and a limited ability to combat evil, as well as, most notably, a more prominent tendency to outright destroy evil rather than simply to seal it.
Significantly, this change seems to have corresponded with the rise of Fujibayashi Hidemaro as the head director and writer of Zelda, taking over from Aonuma Eiji, who became head producer. The Master Sword of ALttP, OoT, and TP and the Master Sword of SS, BotW, and TotK, to me, at least, could almost pass as entirely different weapons, whether for good or for bad. TWW's Master Sword is another box of Cuccos to be rolled into at a later date.

There have been at least two Hyrules, maybe more. we have the main one we know from OoT, But the one from Spirit Tracks is a New Hyrule, Its one Tetra and WW link create after the events of WW and PH. Whos to say this isnt a new land.
It could also be a reboot of sorts for the series, a way for them to step away from the "Official" timeline. And just make games with worrying about conflicting Info. Whose to say this isnt a brand new timeline that has all elements of the other three. which could very well be due to the fact that a lot of things in ToTK mirror older games. adn the fact there are references from all the timelines.
Now granted, whos to say it isnt a retcon. it very well could be. But to take it as fact that it is a retcon is false imo. We dont have enough info on the timeline/history to say one way or the other. Both BoTW and ToTK are unlike any other games in the series.

We seem to be missing that Fi was forever meant to remain dormant in the Sword once her mission was over, and while she is still technically in the sword, she can name become physical again, at least not without the power of all three pieces of the Triforce to grant her that.
That being said, there’s a whole reason why the Master Sword just doesn’t always work right away when you get it in any Zelda game. It was NEVER meant to last, which is why a lot of missions require you to restore and/or power it back up. Yes, the sword was created by Hylia for the purpose of vanishing evil, but much like anything pretty much around us, they eventually succumb to time and wearing out. If it was ready 100% of the time from the moment you get it, then it’s no fun.

    many things to point out:
    1. the master sword in wind waker is most likely NOT the original master sword. one may chaulk it up to art style or even graphics but it DOES look different, the hilt is different and it's blade profile are also different. art style or graphic fidelity do not explain those away. there for using it to link its "being restored" needs is not correct. ergo the only the real master sword need to be restored is in botw and totk, and that is most likely added to the entire gameplay of those game with breakable weapons as a whole. And if the weapon degradation is not used in the next game the master sword will also not have the issue of being able to break.
    2. the seal in windwaker was NOT put on ganondorf but the castle and every monster in it. ganon had already gone to the surface by that point and also killed the old sages keeping the new master sword powerful
    3. Fi said she could not form physically outside the sword in skyward sword at the end. it is clearly stated by her as a fact to exactly explain WHY she does not appear in other games, specially older ones.
in short this does stir some thought experiment but to many things are misunderstood or not correct entirely to fully support it as possibility.

    Okay guys, hear me out:
TOTK: The founding of Hyrule, technically the first game of the series. Queen Sonia and King Rauru are married, and they (potentially) have a child, who is this child?
    Hylia.
Lemme put on my tinfoil hat for a minute.
So the Zonai are gods, or at least, depicted as gods, with stones that amp one's power. Since Sonia and Rauru are too busy uniting the nations of Hyrule, they can't look after baby Hylia, so they give her to either Mineru (who lets be honest, is just sitting on a chair in the Depths, doing absolutely nothing) or Hylians. The events of the Imprisoning War happens, Zelda turns into a dragon and Mineru commits coma in the Purah Pad. Hylia, being raised by two races, being half hylian and Zonai, is herald as a Messiah and a divine connection between the Gods and the Mortals, and is thus shoved up onto Royalty. Out of the few remaining Tears (Secret Stones) Hylia manifests enough power to bring the Triforce into the mortal realm (Don't ask me the specifics, this is just me trying to make this messed up timeline somewhat comprehensible)
Demise is born somehow, my guess is that Ganondorf's seal faltered a tiny bit and released his malice onto the world, not enough to make an impact, but strong enough to make a Phantom of himself: Demise, as the similarities of Stoned Up Ganon and Demise are numerous, and lets not firget that massive scar on Demise' forehead where Ganon's stone would be.
Demise continues in his creator's footsteps, to destroy Hyrule and rule over it as King, and maybe turn it into a good place for Demons to reside.
Hylia vs Demise happens, but its basically a repeat of what happened to her mother and father. Hylia touches the triforce to wish for Demise to be sealed and for Hyrule to now go into the sky, at the cost of losing her life and godhood, but she is reincarnated into Zelda.
Now how can i be so sure that Hylia is Sonia's daughter?
I'm bringing out the Tinfoil house for this one:
Because Sonia says that she and Zelda share a blood connection in Dragon Tear 2. There'd be NO WAY this could happen because as far as we know, there wasn't a Royal Liniege WITH Zonai blood connection after this. The ONLY WAY Zelda can have a blood connection to Sonia, is that if she HAD A DAUGHTER BEFORE GANONDORF FISTED HER (giggidy)
Not only that, but Sonia and SS Zelda LOOK SO FUCKING SIMILAR AS WELL!!!
Pull up a picture of the two, take a long, hard stare and come back to me.
Now at this point count me as a madman.
During the Imprisoning War, the Goddess Sword was given to the Hero depicted in tapestry in Kakariko AND the Ancient Hero's Aspect: Hylia's chosen Champion, a Zonai that she herself, using her remaining Tears, brought down to become her chisen champion, that or a random Zonai was running around and decided he was good at swords one day.
The Hero dies, and Hylia sends his soul somewhere to have a chance at reincarnation, which eventually was Link, but after that, The Spirit of the Hero just became a universal force that just picked random 10 year old boys to be it's successor.
Anyway, Demise killed the Hero, Hylia want Mano v Mano mode, she sacrificed her life and boom, SS Zelda.
And thus Genetics and Bloodlines would prove strong til finally she becomes BOTW and TOTK Zelda.
Anyways Demise was turned into a Toe Monster, and was unsealed by Girahim (Play all of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for the full story)
Demise has gained Hylia's powers from Zelda, and i'm guessing they were amped by her secret stone before she died so Demise is now basically his own thing. He is now a god that dies via Master Sword pinprick, and with the last of Hylia's power places a curse on Link and Zelda, which then means that emise makes HIS own emissary, this time out of his creator's image: OoT, WW and TP Ganondorf, and these Ganons are literally the same person, as he was sealed, not killed, so he was just in permanent stasis until he broke out and finally caused Hyrule to flood, or be casted in eternal twilight.
In TP and WW, Demuse's emissary is defeated and that power went back to TOTK Ganondorf, making Calamity Ganon using his resentment, malice and other negative emotions fueled 70-fold by his other incarnations, two if which held the Triforce of power and the other a carbon copy of him at full power... And i guess using Hyuga's remaining energy from link between worlds... To make Calamity Ganon, which got defeated, and eventually boom: True Ganondorf is back baby.
Thats my theory of events i now need to sleep in my tinfoil pyjamas and tinfoil bed while drinking water from a tinfoil cup.
Thank you for coming to my TEDTalk

I suspect the reason for the devs framing the sages' retelling of the Imprisoning War as essentially the same regardless of which sage it is, is because you can theoretically get the sages (save Mineru) in any order. So each sage's cutscene could potentially be the player's first time seeing the story play out. It also explains why Mineru's scene shows more of what happened when you get her--the player would have obtained all of the other sages by that time, and so more of the story could be revealed. Whether or not you consider that to be lazy storytelling is up to you. I also would have liked to see a different perspective from each of the sages but I understand why Nintendo chose not to do it that way.

What Link actually needed was Zelda, as a dragon, so that he wouldn't get killed when Ganondorf swallowed his stone. If Zelda had not been there, as a dragon, then Ganondorf would have won, Master Sword or not. Her sacrifice was way, way more important beyond just restoring the sword. It's more like restoring the sword was a side benefit rather than the core purpose.

Most likely that Master Sword was crafted by the sages when Ganandorf returned and they needed to fight against him hoping it would call forth a hero again ... which then would explain why the sword was dependent on the Sages for its power.

The emotional impact that it left was very touching and a bit depressing, however a xenologue pops up later and shows a living Emmeryn with no memory in the game which you can recruit which just ruins the emotional sacrifice she did earlier in the game.
That's my problem with reverting the sacrifice Zelda does, granted it would've sucked but I feel like it would've made us appreciate her sacrifice more, besides I'm sure Purah and maybe even Mineru would've joined together to figure out a solution while Link either keeps watch over the Light Dragon or joins in on the research since now he's left without help. The master sword is already proven to have unlimited potential. However it has to be bathed in sacred power. The catch all is, its as powerful as the source of this sacred power. The great Deku tree's area has sacred power and can only do so much. This means the sword only repaired itself over the hundred years with what was in the forest. It wasnt strong enough for Ganondorf. With that said when Zelda did what she did to become the dragon, the secret stones not only amplify their power but when consumed it turns them into an eternal dragon. Which is in this lore extremely powerful. So with the power of the sacred light dragon and 10,000 or so years of bathing for the sword. It became more than ample to destroy ganon and handle his power. Which also begs to reason if someone more powerful showed it would probably be a problem for the sword. Based on the lore the sword is as powerful as its source of sacred power. Which also stands to reason this power diminishes over time. I think something many people have forgotten or not realized is that the Master Sword was never designed to last. In the very beginning of the timeline, Hylia created the Goddess Sword and left the three Scared Flames so the weapon could reach its full potential as the Master Sword. All of that was done so Link could defeat Demise.
It was never intended to be used beyond that event in time.
Given that the Master Sword was forged by Hylia (a goddess) and bathed in the power of the three Golden Goddesses, it is completely understandable that it would be extremely powerful and durable. But the intention was for it to be used once. That was why Fi fell into a slumber at the end of Skyward Sword. Her purpose, and the sword's, were fulfilled.
Hylia never intended for Demise to cast his curse on Zelda and Link and create an endless cycle of war between good and evil. That was an oversight that none of them could have anticipated.
When Demise's incarnations rose up in the future, the Master Sword was seen as the best and greatest weapon to oppose them. And the events just kept repeating over and over again, with the Master Sword's power weakening each and every time it was wielded.
In BOTW, Zelda recalls how Link, the Soul of the Hero, has been skyward bound, adrift in time, and stepped into the glowing embers of twilight. In this time period, those events are stories of legend and myth. It is so far into the future that the Master Sword is reaching its limits. Why do you think it was able to become damaged and shatter so easily? Sure it was because of Ganon's power, but it is also because the weapon is so weak.
The Master Sword can restore itself, but only because it was designed to incase Demise was too strong. After that, it was never to be used again. Until Demise placed his curse.
This is all theory, but I think this is the truth behind the sword. Great video, BTW. Can't wait for the next one! 😊

The Master Sword is similar, except that there were periods of time between uses, allowing it the opportunity to recharge itself and restore itself. But at some point, the sword will either truly shatter beyond repair or will become depleted of its power. Even a weapon of the goddesses is not infinite, as seen with Zelda's sealing power.
If the Master Sword was at full power during Tears of the Kingdom, it never would have shattered. Link would have been able to defeat Ganondorf easily right then and there with a fully powered sword.

And thanks to the _Triforce_ dwelling *inside* Zelda was able to reforge/recharge the sword with it's _omnipotent_ Light so that the Hero may continue to wield the Blade of Evil's Bane into the future of the timeline.

@@nickmanus Zelda's "Sealing Power" is the _Triforce_ which i assure you is NOT "limited" as it is the combined *omnipotent* essences of the 3 Golden Goddesses who created the Zelda universe and as proven in A Link to the Past, Skyward Sword and A Link between Worlds it's power cannot be "depleted" no matter how much one uses it's divine magic to fulfill EVERY WISH the user desires. The reason why the current Zelda is unnable to fully tap into the Triforce's magic is a matter of discussion among the fandom as no solid explanation has been given by Nintendo as of the ending of Tears of the Kingdom which suggests there's still a lot we are yet told about the true nature behind her "Sealing Power" which will be addressed eventually in a future DLC or sequel to fully wrap up all loose ends and cliffhangers left at the end of the main storyline.
Just to make it clear: Zelda's "Sealing Magic" has not "run out" after using it for 100/10.000+ years as the Triforce ,by _default,_ CANNOT run out given it's direct connection to the omnipotent Golden Goddesses and it's very purpose in maintaining balance in the world as shown in A Link between Worlds with the near destruction of Lorule due to their Triforce no longer existing. Wathever reason there is for Zelda's limited control over the Triforce know that Nintendo has yet given us an explanation meaning we have no choice but to wait for a future DLC/sequel in order to address said plotline.

The way I see it. The sword was planned to deal with demise and potential other future evils. However with proof of lore. The sword according to the great deku tree is as powerful as the source of Sacred Power and will grow stronger while bathed in it. Which means the entire time the sword diminished over time which proved that the sword was running on fumes. If you really think about it thats the only thing that makes sense. Over thousands of years the only sacred power it was bathed in was in the forest where would be only so much IF ANY. This stands to reason it never bathed in sacred power for thousands of years. Which would prove the swords diminish if this is true. Thats why what happened happened. So the only way was through Zelda's chosen method to fix it and bring it back to its true power again. With that said according to the Great Deku tree the sword has potentially NO LIMITS to its power. Its limitation is that of the source of sacred power its bathed in. So an ... heh Eternal Light Dragon of Sacred Power would be quite powerful. More powerful than zelda fully realized of her strength I might add to that.

My theory on how the sword broke centers on its title, “the sword that seals the darkness” over the years, the sword has sealed darkness within itself, and i think Ganondorf used it to break it from the inside out

Technically we see it do this in Skyward Sword after defeating Demise he is sealed within the sword itself.

Gloom and Malive seem to be some sort of Acid-Like substances (more extreme present in Gloom since it is shown that it can permamently cause damage on Link's Body like how much his arm got decomposed.)
Meaning while the Master Sword can repell Evil causing it to not become a cursed weapon, it is not immune to physics, meaning while The "Evil Part" gets repelled the "Acid Part" of the Gloom and Malice remain.
And I would say in conclusion the thing that actually makes Ganondorf as dangerous as the A Link to the Past Ganon, who had the full Triforce yet couldnt free himself without using the sages descendants, is Because he seems to have done some Studies in Chemistry

Gloom seem like acts as a manifestation of entropy. As it seems cause chaos or discord in molucules of things which causes them to break down, this would make sense for link as well as entropy eventually leads to death when it comes to cells.

the Triforce was stated to be growing weaker over time in the official strategy guide for A Link to the Past, so that Ganondorf being the strongest is a misconception. According to those same official guides, he was also defeated by Silver Arrows rather than the Master Sword.

    • @Chris-gx1ei

      @@mercury2157
As far as I am aware the Triforce itself wasnt growing weaker (this wouldnt make any sense Because it was later even able of creating a second Triforce for Lorule), instead the reason why a potentially Allmighty Ganon lost in there is Because the Master Sword - as stated in the A Link to the Past Manual - can resist any evil including Evil that wields the Triforce, That's why Ganondorf cannot simply Thanos Snap him, it is mostly unexplained why the Triforce doesnt work again as it should, it seems like a major plothole to me.
And the Silver Arrows do not even damage him at all without the Master Sword, you need to use the Master Sword to damage him, but it can only harm him if you use spin attacks or if you upgraded it into the Golden Sword.

well demise was sealed into the sword meaning he could have been weakening it over time hence its need to be returned to the pedestal or sacred grounds to help with reducing the influence of the corruption within. so that's why it constantly needs upkeep.

Pretty sure Demise's "consciousness" was slowly dying while trapped inside the sword as that's what Fi says in the japanese version of Skyward Sword before Link places it on it's pedestal in the Sealed Temple. The reason why Impa stood behind in the past was so that she could watch the sword in case Demise's spirit managed to break free somehow. Ganondorf IS Demise so it's impossible for them to exist at the _same_ time.

Imo Skyward Sword has the best version of the master sword and imo is underrated af as a game. The fact it’s “polarizing” is ridiculously sad because it’s swordplay/gameplay is it’s best feature imo.
Like sure it has some pacing flaws and Fi could get annoying but it has the best level design, combat, puzzles, swordplay, bosses, and dungeons in Zelda.
The hate against its linearity or that it’s not open world makes really no sense to me because barely of the other Zelda games are that non linear and even the non linearity hurts Zelda more because of how shallow it is.
Like who cares if you can do the water temple first if you are still required to do the water temple anyway!
I’m not saying it’s a perfect Zelda game, but imo it’s better than TP, BOTW or even TOTK imo.

  • @TheJH1015
    @TheJH1015 Рік тому

I think it's also good lowkey storytelling that yes, the Master Sword *repaired* itself over the 100 years of Link's slumber in BotW, but that was mainly its physical form. Its 'spiritual' or 'sacred' aspects needed *much* longer to be *restored*, namely the multiple thousands of years it took Zelda to fully bring back the blade from the brink of annihilation.
From this we can conclude that the Master Sword's physical and sacred aspects are not restored at the same pace when put to rest. If anything, in the couple of years between BotW and TotK, the Master Sword barely had any time to restore more of its sacred power in the Korok Forest.
From ALttP and ALBW, you can also see that man-made improvements to the blade by the smiths in both games will wear off eventually, since in ALBW the Master Sword has returned to its natural state. On the other hand, in ALttP, you do see that the final Master Sword 'upgrade' *is* done by a Great Fairy in the Dark World, which again is in character for a sacred, magic entity to be able to pull off... if only for a limited time here, appearently.
