Not to mention after Flair won, Hulk still managed to make it all about him. Ric got the backstage interview, but Hogan needed to be shown fighting with Sid around the ring while Flair was left in the ring celebrating.
It's the best way to save money. Instead of buying new calendars every year, just hold on to them and then several years later, just reuse them over again...
I didn't know as a kid how young he was. He was only 29 at the 1992 Royal Rumble. He was 26 when he made his WWF debut and 27 when he ”injured” Hogan. He looked like he was in his 40s.
I remember watching this live with my Dad and Sister. We all picked our winner of the Royal Rumble. My Sister picked Sid, Dad picked Hogan and with a tear in my eye! I picked Flair.
Greatest Royal Rumble match ever, period. Thanks for reviewing this. This was the first PPV I ever watched. Ric Flair has always spoken very highly of his brief first run in the WWF.
A while back someone had the entire rumble match itself uploaded to YT, and watching it was an experience. So different from what we know nowadays, and yeah, this really is up there with one of the best WWE matches.
This was my first Royal Rumble I watched as a child and I never realised half of what Piper was saying for obvious reason but my mother always loved him and was laughing at it and I never understood why. Until years later as a family we watched it again and I couldn't believe he actually said that stuff... my mother still loved him was kind of a nice memory to watch it all together as adults to share memories. The whole thing remains one of my favourite all time Rumbles not just from a nostalgic point of view but the Rumble itself told a great story and felt truly epic and I didn't realise until years later it was also the first one to have any real meaning since the winner didn't even get a title shot as a result until the following year.
I remember BBH saying he promised if Ric wins he'll never do to do or say anything bad ever again - that was one of my favorite all time lines in wrestling!
I’ll admit it was very petty for hogan to distract sid by pulling his arm when all sid did was eliminate hogan in a match thats EVERY MAN FOR THEMSELVES
Hogan was always a selfish fuck. He even admitted he politicker his way throughout his career. Never liked the guy and never got the hype. Overrated talker and shit wrestler.
I get so confused by this 'Hogan is a jerk' thing people mention from RR92. Like, Hogan isn't the only person to eliminate someone even though he's not part of the match. Far from it in fact. So why is Hogan considered such a jerk at the Rumble? When it's fine whenever anyone else does it?
AlwaysLookCool 729 Because Hogan is supposed to be a babyface and he’s getting upset about being eliminated in a match thats every man for himself and distracting the person he eliminated. It’s mostly heels that decide to be sore losers about being eliminated and distract the one they eliminated. And this is coming from someone who really likes hulk hogan. I understood when hogan did it to boss man in 89 since they were in a feud but here the championship was on the line its not like most people wouldn’t do what sid did if they were in sids position.
The thing with Monsoon bringing up Champions Advantage, is he did it with EVERY title match unless it was a stipulation where neither countouts or disqualifications mattered. The match just so happened to end in a countout.
The Beverley Brothers were formerly known as The Destruction Crew in the AWA, where they were their tag team champions. "Mean" Mike Enos and Wayne "The Train" Bloom. Eric Bischoff would constantly refer to them including their nicknames.
Hell YA the 92 rumble ive been waiting for this one .... Thank you zman for finally reviewing it i must have rented this like a million times when i was a kid
One of my favorite Heenan moments from this show is during the LoD/Disasters match in which he tries to call someone over to go in the back and try to find out Flair's entry number to which Monsoon calls over security to get the guy out of there. Also, it's interesting to note that at this point, people were starting to grow tired of Hogan's shtick which is why Sid got such a big pop when he tosses him from the match. In subsequent replays throughout the following weeks though, Vince would have the footage edited from the crowd reaction to having new lines recorded by Heenan and Monsoon.
First time seeing this new intro. Love it. I appreciate the attention to increasing the quality and format of the shows on the channel for the last few months. Great job.
Oh dear Jesus is that WWF Attitude (The Game) Triple H (No pun intended, honestly) in your profile pic? There's something disturbing about that low poly flat faced model looking at it now. Looks like the missing link or something.
The shoot reason for Mountie beating Bret for the IC Title was that according to the Wrestling Observer, Bret believed his WWF contract was up, and was talking a guaranteed contract with WCW. The plan was to have Bret debut at Clash of the Champions 18 two days after this PPV, possibly with the IC Title (as retaliation for Flair bringing the NWA/WCW World Title onto WWF programming). Bret's contract, however, had rolled over and he was unable to give notice. His 2007 autobiography "Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling" confirmed the Observer's notes about the plan to lose the belt to Mountie, only for him to regain it from Piper at WrestleMania 8, but made no mention of agreeing to a WCW deal at that point in time.
Let's get something straight. Shawn Michaels didn't throw Jannetty through the Barber Shop window. Jannetty was trying to escape and he leapt through the window. Of course, that's how Bobby Heenan described it, haha.
ric flair did something roman couldn't do at the 2016 royal rumble which is actually being able to survive the entirety of the rumble while the wwe champion was at stake while ric had to deal with the entire match , roman was sent to the back for the majority of the match which doesn't show that he was a "fighting champion" enough because he didn't try to survive a challenge like this
I agree with brain. This is one of my favorite royal rumble of all time. I remember when i was a young teenager my parents order the pay per view and i recorded it on V.H.S. Great stuff!!
I watched this Rumble so much as a kid. It was in the process of those watch-throughs that I realized that they didn't actually stick to their arbitrary timer and just sent people out whenever they were ready after doing the pre-arranged spots and whatnot.
I couldn't agree more about this being the best Rumble of all time. Awesome from the promos to the perfect ending to the post match gem with mean "put that cigarette out" Gene. I even liked the other marches and and rowdy winning the Ic was icing on the cake plus LOD natural disasters and a Young Undertaker! Can't say enough!
A friend of mine locally was born the same day, and there's a funny story around this show. Her dad had ordered it,, and her mom went into labor during the show. Well he wanted to see the PPV to its' end so badly, he insisted they wait until it was over to get her to the hospital so she could have her. That's some dedication huh? lol

Back in the day you nearly always knew who was going to be in the Royal Rumble ahead of the PPV. My Dad used to write down who was in and get everyone in the family to guess the order they thought everyone would enter. It was a meaningless fun seeing who would get the most right but not something you can do you now or have been able to do for 20 plus years.

Can't imagine the ending without it. Interesting fact, Rush played this song in Dec 91 in the same arena.
Not to mention after Flair won, Hulk still managed to make it all about him. Ric got the backstage interview, but Hogan needed to be shown fighting with Sid around the ring while Flair was left in the ring celebrating.
2020 has the same calendar as 1992, so you too can relive this amazing year
It's the best way to save money. Instead of buying new calendars every year, just hold on to them and then several years later, just reuse them over again...
John Tenta aka Earthquake was an incredible worker for a guy his size.
That was actually an impressive drop kick...
He id my uncle
I didn't know as a kid how young he was. He was only 29 at the 1992 Royal Rumble. He was 26 when he made his WWF debut and 27 when he ”injured” Hogan. He looked like he was in his 40s.
@@elmagnificodep He did look about 15-20 years older than he was.
greg hughes Exactly! It made him look more experienced than some young guy in his 20s.
Am I the only one who loved The Repo Man? I loved Barry Darsow in that role!!!!!!!
You and Simon Miller.
A while back someone had the entire rumble match itself uploaded to YT, and watching it was an experience. So different from what we know nowadays, and yeah, this really is up there with one of the best WWE matches.
"If you're a noun from a place, Ric Flair wants nothing to do with you."
Getting VHS wwf tapes for Christmas was magical i got Royal Rumble 92 & wrestlemania 6 and watched them over and over, epic times
The Rumble match itself was Epic. Heenan's commentary made it legendary. Flair's post match promo cemented that legend
Like the added touch of that old school TV for the intro. Nice touch
"With a tear in my eye.." I shall push the like button.
I’m totally watching this Rumble again tonight. Thanks, Brian.
I’ll admit it was very petty for hogan to distract sid by pulling his arm when all sid did was eliminate hogan in a match thats EVERY MAN FOR THEMSELVES
I remember at 8 years old how Hogan was a jerk for doing that, and rooted for Sid to get even.
Hogan constantly did this to his friends -- Macho Man, Tugboat, Koko B Ware.
And the Minnesota Wrecking Crew II in WCW for some reason.
The Barbarian doesn’t like anyone when I managed him he barely liked me-Bobby Hennan
With a tear in my eye. This is the greatest moment of my life.
Ric flair, royal rumble, 1992
The star power in the Rumble is unbelievable! How many Hall of Famer's? Absolutely classic.
"...With a tear in my eye..."
I loved it at the end when Heenan & Perfect said, "We hate to say we told you so, but...we told you so."
I remember having this on VHS just seeing those floating letters gives me nostalgia and a hunger for Twix.
First time seeing this new intro. Love it. I appreciate the attention to increasing the quality and format of the shows on the channel for the last few months. Great job.
Solomonster probably watched this video.
Nice intro and this is one of my favorites aka the Monsoon/Heenan show

Cuttin a poem
Brian’s wordplay is underrated
This was my all time favorite ppv and I always loved the rumble especially back then.
"Full on Coke and Energy"
heenan started the yes movement. glad to know.
The More You Know
Let's get something straight. Shawn Michaels didn't throw Jannetty through the Barber Shop window. Jannetty was trying to escape and he leapt through the window. Of course, that's how Bobby Heenan described it, haha.
This was the first wrestling show I ever watched. And I was hooked!!!
I smile every time I see a classic PPV review.
ric flair did something roman couldn't do at the 2016 royal rumble
which is actually being able to survive the entirety of the rumble while the wwe champion was at stake
while ric had to deal with the entire match , roman was sent to the back for the majority of the match which doesn't show that he was a "fighting champion" enough because he didn't try to survive a challenge like this
Bro that's 4 years ago, get over it lol.
@@charlesberg1234 that's a dumb excuse that's like saying that we can't hate on vince's dumb actions because it was "in the past"
Christ... this is tragic 😂
Bro let it go
I agree with brain. This is one of my favorite royal rumble of all time. I remember when i was a young teenager my parents order the pay per view and i recorded it on V.H.S. Great stuff!!
One of the best Rumbles ever. Loved this!
I did not
I watched this Rumble so much as a kid. It was in the process of those watch-throughs that I realized that they didn't actually stick to their arbitrary timer and just sent people out whenever they were ready after doing the pre-arranged spots and whatnot.
"He's full of coke and fighting spirit, folks!" lmaoooooooooooooooo
Been a while since I've seen these, but I love the new intro. And yes, I also love the Rumble of '92.
This was the first PPV I saw live as a kid, not on VHS, Ric Flair lasting the whole time was incredible.
My birthday Jan 19 1992 two great things happen that day. I was born and the 1992 royal rumble
I'm Jan 19 1995!
fc775 I’m Jan 19 85
A friend of mine locally was born the same day, and there's a funny story around this show. Her dad had ordered it,, and her mom went into labor during the show. Well he wanted to see the PPV to its' end so badly, he insisted they wait until it was over to get her to the hospital so she could have her. That's some dedication huh? lol
I knew Zane had a kid but didn't realize she was already 5. Kudos to you Brian, for being a parent and also having the time to keep this channel going. I have a 2.5 year old and sometimes my head spins!
I watched the beginning of this in the bathroom and my wife thought I was watching porn because of the music.
I feel like you glanced over "Haku is filling in for Brian Knobs who was stabbed just prior to this match." lol
With a tear in my eye....this might be the greatest Royal Rumble of all time
I was at this show and I'm always eager to relive it. Thanks for uploading.
What if you wanted to go to heaven
But god said
*SIIIIIIIID JUSTICE*
Back in the day you nearly always knew who was going to be in the Royal Rumble ahead of the PPV. My Dad used to write down who was in and get everyone in the family to guess the order they thought everyone would enter. It was a meaningless fun seeing who would get the most right but not something you can do you now or have been able to do for 20 plus years.
