- This is a project for a customer named David. He saw the project I did for the military where I design a roof system for two 20 foot containers using only 2" x 6" x 16' because that is all they had to work with in that theater.
I told him I could design a roof system that was more appropriate for stateside and this is the first video and rough draft to see if I am headed in the right direction for him. Part 2 will include finishing up the model and showing how the printed drawings are laid out.
The music "Celestial Winter" was written and performed by my son, Barret. His channel is here / insanedrummer89 Barret writes all of the music for ny channel. Thanks son!

Barret's music is at 22:50 I know some of you are here just for that :)
Thank-you for demonstrating a real world example using the truss plugin. I've never seen it used with shipping containers before, this is quite an interesting type of construction method.
Thanks for your help with the extensions. I can tell there is much thought put into the creation of them.
Thank you for this. We are currently designing a diy shipping container holiday home in this formation with the centre being stacked glass doors. I was disappointed that the previously posted roof designed was not advisable but you have just made my day with this post.
Thanks :)
If building a living area out of a shipping container, what is the best ceiling height achieved?
If you use the 9’ tall containers you can get a normal ceil height especially if you are building a roof over the top where the insulation can go above the container.
I need to build 1 similar single stack that can fit a full size dump truck under on a job site that is "a temporary structure" bur semi permanent
I can help if you want to contact me at atdrafting.com :)
how can i get an engineer evaluation the roof load... building inspector requiring. Looking for cheapest method knowing it will be fine having seen 30+ examples of this roof application
If you are using roof trusses, the truss company will "pre-engineer" the trusses and give you data sheets that can be passed along to the building inspector. I would try this before finding and paying an engineer. I do this on the houses we build. Thanks!
Some great design work. :)
Thank you much Richard! :)
