    • @BitchinStitchin

      It doesn't matter the so of the needle or hook, they'll still take up the same amount of space by side. For instance, wrap a yarn around your wrist 5 times, then around your finger 5 times. The distance from the first wrap to the last wrap will be the same.

    Ditto! Someone else asked, "What size needle are you suppose to use to wrap yarn?"
    We can't tell what size needle (or crochet hook for that matter) you should use to wrap the yarn around by seeing the skein, your hand, or even the size of the ruler to make that decision. The needle size would make a difference! Your video is not the only one that doesn't give this important information. This whole thing is very frustrating ... the pattern I'm trying to figure out simply says "Milk cotton, size 4, 160g" ... I wish I weren't so negative or sad. Thank you.

      Try doing the wrap with a knitting needle and then something much thicker, eg a curtain pole or broom handle it will require more yarn for the thicker pole but the number for the inch (which is what you want) will be the same. Try it. It really works

I think the spectra yarn, on a cardboard cone, might have been 4 a knitting machine but mother never had one of those. She might have purchased 2use 2 hand knit 4 save on cost? It's only marking on a small label 'spectra wool dye lot 101. Blessings maggie smith

  • @ReallyJillRogoff
    @ReallyJillRogoff 2 роки тому +4

    Sorry if I'm being dim, but I'm confused: your chart gives the number of stitches/wraps per 4 inches, and in the video you're gauging per one inch. Surely your 12 wraps per inch translates to 48 wraps per 4 inches... which is (literally) off the chart. Or are you counting two wraps as one stitch? What am I missing?

    • @leeann9775

    • @crazycrochetcatlady756
      @crazycrochetcatlady756 9 місяців тому

      I think the chart just says to measure for 4 inches and divide to find the number of wraps per one inch. It’s just a little more accurate than doing it for one inch, in case you don’t wrap it quite evenly.

      Socks are most often knit using fingering weight (#1) yarn because they don't add bulk to your shoes. However, I know there are a lot of patterns using worsted weight and many of them are for slipper-like house socks. I like these little footie socks using worsted weight yarn: www.thechillydog.com/2017/05/knitting-pattern-best-worsted-socks.html
