Hey guys, thanks for pointing out that micro jigs benefit from fine cut skirt material. I consider 1/8 and less a micro jig. Regular skirt material does not move correctly with jigs that light. The Japanese and a couple U.S. manufacturers have figured this out. There still is a big difference between the rods used in Japan (shorter, lighter) and the U.S. but that's a personal choice. Thanks for another great video.

The best jigs that I found are my home made hand tied ones. They cost me less than $1 to make and I tie on whatever skirt colors I want. And when I lose it (I fish deep rocky lakes), it won't cost me and arm and a leg.

Since you guys taught me so much about jigs I feel obligated to share this information with you.
During the shad spawn a swim jig with a menace on the back can be absolutely deadly. Think dead action spinnerbait. During the shad spawn actively feeding bass are going to feed looking up. With the menace you can keep the bait balanced and up in the water column without burning it. The magic of this bait is that you can literally throw it across the highway and never have to worry about it getting stuck. If you really wanna fine tune it you can tie a living rubber skirt to give the jig even more lift. If you put a traditional swimbait trailer on it, it’s gonna wanna roll and stall down in the water column. The first time you cast it out you’re gonna look at the action in the water and think it looks so dumb it’ll never work. But I promise you it will out fish anything when the shad are spawning in heavy cover. If you don’t believe me watch Day 1 of the Classic last year and watch Steve Kennedy. It flat out works.

They have a 4 pronged keeper, hand tied skirts, r ex eased line tie, and a mix of silicone and living rubber skirts. They also are only $3.99 and if you buy a 3 pack it’s only $9.99 give or take a little depending on the version and size you get.

I throw up to a 1/2 oz jig on a spinning rod. I have over a 95% land ratio and I grind them to the yak. Finesse is a myth . There should be a different way of breaking that down and to me its more to do with line size than the type of rod and reel you are using. Now I agree you should not pitch and flip with a spinning set up but if you have 6lb line on a BFS bc set up then are you (powerfishing)? I don't think so. This is all ego stuff. Me I have an ego too but mine starts and ends with getting fish to the boat also I would not go over a 1/2 oz on a spinning rod but if it is a whopping stick you can get it done but you will miss fish also. Any thanks so much TB fam I would not have the confidence I have with out yall. Got 3 big smallie just this week, 18, 18 & 1/2 and 19 & 1/2 River smallies talk about fun. Love that THUMP!
