I will have you know, I play Dark Angels, I will have you watch your tone Sir, be for I have your head removed from your shoulders. We don't need team Edward losing their temper over there. Haha all jokes aside. Good video, everything helps.
Great video. Getting ready to run a little MW: D myself. Only problem I see with what you had in the video is that your character was from the Free Worlds League. ;)
of the 4 versions of the RPG, 2nd ed was the cleanest for character creation and direct transfer from RPG to the table top. however, you could min/max a character very easily if you were only going to play table top. I'm not impressed with the general mechanics of Destiny and the transfer between game styles is not clean or direct. the provided tables leave alot of ambiguity.
As I see it 1 pip equals 3 armor points. Destiny does not track side and center torso and pips seem related to center torso. Mech pips in Destiny account for armor and internal structure.
For someone who rambles, you explained it all quite succinctly. I think this would be a great system to play with my D&D friends who don't know much, if anything, about Battletech.
Thanks for the info. I was an 80's player also. WOW! lots has changed. Much the same!! Getting back into it with my son's. Ramble on bro. ! Love it! Also a MERP fan!
I see Page 176 having some sort of workflow using battle XP. that refers to page 191 I see earning battle XP page 192 I see using battle XP Converting battle XP to XP page 189 pilot damage hardware damage pag 54 In page 79 I see character advancement using XP What should I use to buy, repair, rebuild and salvage mechs? I am really confused because formulas to do so are different. What is the workflow, what goes first or should I even mix battle XP with XPs?
So if I understand correctly: You: 2D6 + Skill + Attribute + Modifiers Opponent: 2D6 + Modifiers If YOU is greater than OPPONENT, you win. What if both are equal?
It does not sound right to use XP to fix a mech. This is what C-bills are for. Is it bad if these are handled separately? Or is there a reason to use XP for both? Normally starting with 1 million C-bills in the bank should be enough to start a business. The reason why XP should not be used to repair or buy is that unless you are a merc, your house should be able to provide with the necessary infrastructure and resources to repair your mech. If you are a captain, using your XP to repair your mech does not seem fair. It would be like those companies that do not give a laptop to new employees, so they have to use their personal laptop, exposing the whole company network to any kind of malware, and blurring the frontier between use of company assets and personal ones.
Mechwarrior 2nd ed has skills that transfer directly to standard battletech without any adjustments. Destiny uses an abstract combat system and non-standard dice mechanics. to use your characters skills in standard battletech, there is a two-page section that explains how to convert the skills between the games. personally, I'll stick with the 2nd ed rules. there are also numerous source books and scenario books for 2nd ed. I haven't heard of any additional material being made for Destiny or A Time of War.
I want your opinion on my ideas to be GM in Destiny. Feel free to provide feedback. I prefer a hard truth than a soft lie. * Unlike a movie where you have character arcs and characters are taken into a situation, in Destiny you have a stroy structure similar to Mass Effect where you have missions. In a way they look like Mission Impossible or A Team episodic adventures. * To create interesting settings you may use Tactical Operations advanced rules to create planet environments. * I see 3 types of core character roles in Destiny. Investigator, hacker and warrior. One gets intel, the other steals intel or opens doors and the third punches people in the face. So having a team with such characters or NPCs may be important. * How do you know what situation is interesting or emotionally appealing for players? * Always try to provide an advantage to players. Like when you make that mech combat, distribute enemies enemies to bring tactical disadvantage to them or make total BV to be inferior for enemies. Anyway repairs will be painful. * Always plan and provide a lucky twist if character is trapped. Always design your story with a way to get out alive and preferrably successful. Happy endings matter. Even failure may lead to happy endings. * There are different types of villains. The ones who gets character into trouble and lecture character but are incompetent (example Grevious, Gargamel). The one that kicks an push (dark troopers in Mandalorian), and the one that kills on sight (Aliens, Darth Vader, Terminator). Make the last one have a disadvantage when facing player character.
@dmjamesplaysosr Thanks! Keep up the great vids. I look forward to learning more about Mechwarrior Destiny from you. I hope to find an online campaign to play in soon.
You earned a sub just for that shirt, brother.
I dont know anything about antifa other than its defined as anti fascist and anti racist? So the shirt is pro racism?

Watch it dude. Blood angels are kinda space mutant vampires with emo anger issues. Repent for your slander against the first chapter
Based shirt. Subbing to you for sure.
Where did you get that character record sheet.

I'm also interested in playing Destiny and the board game at the same time, will you make a video showing how to do the conversion over?

Also, nice shirt.
is it just me or does the damage in Destiny seems scuffed?

What is the difference between Plot Point and Edge? Both modify events.
Plot points are in BT;TW and edge is a MW;Destiny thing but in function I think they are about the same.

Thanks for teaching and showing us your cool stuff :D
The same system that Destiny uses is one of the Hidden best thing kill x amount of Battlemechs and get abilities for that and that's really cool!
Thanks man! This has helped my group out. You do good. Keep it up!
How does Destiny compare with MW 2nd edition?
Mechwarrior 2nd ed has skills that transfer directly to standard battletech without any adjustments.
Destiny uses an abstract combat system and non-standard dice mechanics. to use your characters skills in standard battletech, there is a two-page section that explains how to convert the skills between the games.

Whoa whoa that's rich calling the Dark Angels traitors, coming from a Legion of Vampires.
Also you're a Marik guy...you're a house of traitors lol
Maybe vampires but always loyal.
Bonus honour for your FWL character :-)
The dark angels aren’t traitor, that’s the fallen.
I always say that to rib a few of my bros who play dark angels.

Terrible idea. That's not an RPG, that's the GM telling a story where the players can never fail. Snowflakey.
Anti-antifa. Sooo... Pro fascism?
You keep using that word; I do not think you understand what it means.
I just picked this up last night at my FLGS. Does it contain rules for mech combat in the book? Thanks for this video!
yes
