- 1 January 2006, Mariska's last tv appearance. She sings 2 songs on tv, Venus and RIVER DEEP MOUNTAIN HIGH • Mariska Veres last tv ... Just 11 months later she died.
Mariska Veres is the one and only original singer of Shocking Blue. One of there most known worldhits was this one; Venus
it is funny how at the end the crowd takes over the orchestra and surprises the band and Mariska with the 'aaaaaahhhhhhh '
Diagnosed with bladder cancer and died 3 weeks later. Rip Mariska. You left one song that will live eternally.
railroad man , too
A song that decimates modern crap nowadays
RIP
My favorite 45 rpm back when I was 7 yrs young, RIP
If this was her last tv appearance then it was a great finale and tribute to such a beautiful ❤️ woman RIP Mariska
Iconic song , iconic singer, iconic voice, iconic woman.
Mariska was probably the most beautiful girl in the world in 1969. And this song is one of the best pop/rock songs of all time.
She had eyes you could sink into and a gorgeous head of hair.
Now she blew up into a hideous wart-hog!
@@alvinmonero3462 Too cruel and unnecessary. Did you miss the part that says she died 11 months later ?
@@salus1231 I never see truth as 'cruel' . It's her own fault she blew up into a sea-wart.
But oh well.....everybody dies. Not everyone truly lives tho. It's a good quote
@@alvinmonero3462 She is obese from the inflammation of her chemotherapy for the cancer that she had
@@alvinmonero3462 Ignorante. She is obese from the inflammation of her chemotherapy for the cancer that she had
40 years later and this song still carries an impact! Wow!
The Goddess is eternal !
É VERDADE! EM 1969 EU TINHA 3 ANOS. ADORO ESSA MÚSICA! (from Brasil) 09/04/23.

@@iramaiasilva5668, а мне 18!Мы обожали эту песню.
And 55 years later it still rocks!
I was in my teens when Shocking Blue hit the charts here in America. Its so nice to see so many younger people in the audience enjoying Mariska Veres beautiful and powerful voice singing along. RIP Sweetheart Gone but NEVER forgotten.🌹

Absolutely great!! As a band we would like to share with you our little tribute medley of Shocking Blue, hope you like it: ua-cam.com/video/zlx4DbsvM8w/v-deo.html
This is one of the greatest songs written in the 70's, and it STILL attracts many, many people!
What a treat to get to actually see Mariska's last TV performance! She was an absolutely gorgeous woman, and, it pains me, deeply, to talk about her in the past tense. This has to be the best live performance I have *EVER* heard of this fantastic song! You will never be forgotten, Mariska!
* 60's
It’s late 60s
@@no1nestandsalone387 No, its early sixties. The Banjo song, The big three
The song "Venus" was not released in the 70s, but in 1967...the 70s means 1971 - 1970...I make this clarification because many people do not know exactly what a period of ten years means, ('50; '60; '70, etc.) due to the lack of culture....You don't even know when this song was released, also because of the lack of culture...
@@nicolaemarian7009No, it was released in 1969. You’re wrong as well
Excellent singer...She looks happy and full of peace in this video...R.I.P.
Mariska Veres was truly magnificent, and credit must also be given to her band Shocking Blue
Despite the illness, Always the same wonderful eyes......R.I.P. unforgettable Mariska Veres! 🌹
This was the first ever song I heard from Shocking Blue, but ever since I heard this ladies voice, I was hooked! I have been a huge fan ever since. I have everything the band ever recorded plus Mariska's solo work. Shocking Blue were I'm sure one of the best ever bands to emanate from the Netherlands. Their songs were short, and all so sweet. Brings a tear to my eye seeing this last clip of her performing. R.I.P.
Every time I play this, I get very emotional, thank Mariska for the everlasting memory.
I remember when this hit the FM charts in 1969. Such a great voice!
Simply unforgettable. Love you forever Mariska and Shocking Blue 👍👍👍👍👍👍👏👏👏👏👏
Most people outside the Netherlands remember Mariska only as the stunning beauty of Shocking Blue. Seeing how she's changed after all those years can be a bit of a shock. I certainly wouldn't have recognised her. Nevertheless, I can see why the Dutch loved her and why she'd become something of a national treasure. Her vocal capacity was unbroken, in fact it almost seemed better than in her younger years.
Fräulein Menke no..it was at this time being bed ridden often and her body riddled with cancer she bravely came out and gave 1 last for rock n roll
She is obese from the inflammation of her chemotherapy for the cancer that she had...
That's the reason I don't get married women get old and turn ugly .
Maybe her looks changed because of medication that she took for her cancer.
RIP Mariska.
Loved this woman since I was a kid... The Venus has been gone almost 10 years now and dearly missed.. R.I.P. Mariska angel..//
Max Mason MARISKA MAKES ALL THESE SO CALLED DIVAS LOOK LIKE SHIT. MARISKA IS THE REAL DIVA.
Forever Beloved and Adored. Venus Forever. Schone Mariska
It's amazing that 45 years later she was still singing so good. What a beautiful woman. R.I.P.
and fat ~
@@theothertroll she was ill -_-
More amazing was that there were plenty of young people among the audience enjoying the moment and her beautiful song !!!.
RIP Mariska Veres. ...
Greetings from Bell, California. ... Monday 21, 9/2020 at 12:04 PM.
Amazing
Everybody
Even now she still has so much power in her voice. When I first heard her voice it was so refreshing to her sing, she had such a distinct style that sounded like no one else. Was sad to lose such a great and beautiful singer, RIP Mariska.
Mariska Veres - it is LEGEND.
She looks so happy. I hope she knew how much happiness she gave to the world with this song. RIP, wonderful goddess.
It makes me sad that they were considered a one hit wonder with Venus. They have so many great songs!!
If ever there was a song I never tire of listening to - it's this one....;Venus;.
In my heart, Mariska is still belting this song out just like 1970.....RIP Beautiful Lady!
Venus was released in 1969 here .
Mariska looked like she was really enjoying herself. That's the way I want to remember her. RIP, my friend.
Mariska remained seductive until the very end, and at the top of the list of underrated performers. "Venus" received near constant airplay for much of the spring and summer of 1970, a most magical time for many of us, and Mariska remains part of that magic.
Nice that she sang this live and did not lip sync ... one of those songs, great songs that will last forever.
zo goed dit meiske jaren 60 70 genieten dit echt
ff terug in de tijd! nostalgie! o wat verlang ik der naar die tijd!!
gelukkig hebben we de beelden en muziek nog!! wardeer het jeugd!!!!

One of the most beatifull and perfect female voices of rock n roll
She is eternally beautiful....her eyes are mesmerizing....it's like being in a sweet dream that I don't want to end. She is beautiful here and her eyes are still as enchanting...she is Venus....a goddess...she may have been heavier here but that only meant there was more of her to love! Thanks so much for sharing this!
That was a beautiful thing to say!! Americans put too much emphasis on body image and beauty and it's really annoying. Christ she is probably 70 or close to it in this video.!! People that made comments need to give a girl a break! Let's see how they will look at that age. I think she still sounded Great! Took me back for sure!!
@@joannabender152 True to that what you say about the USA ,,Image,, thingy, I think that counts for all Fake Image things. I mean there is a difference between taking Care of Yourself , and just Overdo such things. Well anywayzzz, . . . Mariska was close to 60 here , She was sick and passed away about 10 months after this Performance.
@@joannabender152 Assuming the date of the concert given in the description is correct, she was 58 years & 3 months old. Aside from body image, we put too much emphasis on age as well. I'm pushing 70 and find it a bit comical when people refer to someone in their late 50s as old.
If you look into her face, you can still see the young girl that we all remember. So beautiful
Mariska Veres forever.
Always, alwaysss Dear Mariska, in vrede rust
We missen je vreselijk!, LOVE YOU!
DANKJEWEL voor je talent
So many members of the band died so young. Very sad. Such a great song that holds up to this day. Thank you for the music.
This brings tears to my eyes, she was the elder stateswoman of Dutch rock, a mother figure for all of us.
You can just feel the energy and fun pulsating from this hall! The spirit and fun of the 60,s still lived on!
I get tears in my eyes from watching this. she only got better with age.
I guess Mariska were one of the most beautiful singers at her time....and in this video she had shown that her voice was still powerful. I´d love this voice! God Bless You, Mariska! Rest In Peace! Thanks, thanks, thanks!
Mariska thank you for leaving us with this unforgettable Classic. RIP!
RIP, Mariska.
2019, and the energy of the song still strong
‘22 and we r still here!
R.I.P. Venus will never die.
This is one song that keeps going. Up to us to keep the original remembered. along with Mariska Veres and the Shocking Blue version
Sue Richardson yes song does not even sound dated...
At the time she was so stunning in 1969 next stunning women at that time was Nancy Sinatra compare the 2
Forever Mariska !!
I love that she is really singing it live here.
She had it all the way to the end. Thank you Mariska
The most beautiful woman of the 60s ,she captured it all, in that beautiful face and soul!!
Mariska, Eternally in my Heart, within my inspiring favorites as a musician. Keep singing from heaven, because one day I will find you again...
R.I.P. 🎼⚘🕊
With your sweet immortal voice.
The crowd is great & clearly having a great time.
amazing how well this song has aged, brilliant tune, the ultimate sing along, you can tell mariska is really enjoying herself.
So beautiful 👌👌👌👌❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
In some of the original recordings I love the way she sings" Yeah Baby" It sounds so good. I would have never guessed she was from the Netherlands. Great Song.
God Bless Mariska RIP
Her singing voice was a gift from God; she used it and it made millions of people happy! R.I.P.
wow wow wow :O usually live versions so many years later? are not close to this good..Mariska is forever frozen in time with this timeless classic..and kudos to the crowd for the energy they brought..was nice to see her happy like this before she left us :)
I agree completely. It was cool.
It's amazing how many young people were cheering, chanting and enjoying the moment!!!.
Only The Good Older Rolling Stones concerts have been seen with young crowds cheering and singing along with joyful enthusiasm. I have come to the conclusion that, old Rock and Roll is for all kind of ages with no discussion.
May You Rest in Peace Mariska The Beautiful.
Greetings you all.

Hello Andreas Scmitt! We would like to share with you our little tribute medley of Shocking Blue, hope you like it!: ua-cam.com/video/zlx4DbsvM8w/v-deo.html
The wonderful band Shocking Blue, but the voice and stage presence is simply fantastic! It is a pity he left so soon, but in Heaven will shine forever the voice of Mariska Veres. God bless you and thank you for being one of the most beautiful memories of my adolescence! Even today it is impossible not to hear you singing Venus!
She is a sweet girl your voice was strong and beatiful..In 70's years I had 10 years old ...sweet remember Mariska never forget your face...pretty girl
I still find it hard in knowing she is gone. I wished she would have made it in the States as a bigger star performer. To me, she was a huge star and a great performer who had a fantastic singing voice. I hope she was happy throughout her life. She is missed and always will be missed.
She was only 59 so sad Gallbladder cancer😥
The song was mostly known in the US from the cover by Bananarama, which is a shame because their version was mediocre manufactured pop. The original 1969 recording and this live performance blow that cheapo version out of the water.
@@diosoth YES ! ! !
@@diosoth not really. The Shocking Blue version was no.1 in the States.
@@paulbakker6765 correct, Ive never even heard any other version than SBlue's, I hear it on classic rock stations all the time, it's a staple in US.
Originally (ignorantly) regarded this song as a trifle....years later realized what a great and joyful anthem it was, how fine an artist she was...and how much great music she and the band gave us.
I so miss Mariska...My Venus!!
RIP beautiful lady!
She was hypnotic and charismatic right to the end. I am only now discovering her jazz recordings. Thank you so much for posting her work. She was a great singer and had a beautiful spirit. And those gypsy eyes!
Today this song is as fabulous as it was when it was first released. What an incredible number and incredible artist/band. Loved it then, now and always

The joy of the people there, what a great thing. That's a legacy to be proud of.
Close your eyes and the year's melt away...
I was 17 when this song was a hit. My parents were from The Netherlands and I was so happy the band was Dutch. Wat een grote hit was dit!
mooie vrouw tot aan het einde !!

she really had the voice! we are a smaller musical world after she passed, later in the same year as this broadcast.

what a great talent she was...terrific to see this clip after all these years...
I just discovered this beautiful music I had already heard Venus in other versions but I did not know its origin nor how beautiful it was Mariska Veres.
I was just a boy aged twelve from Sardinia when I heard and bought "Venus" and I still play it today with guitar. Unforgettable!
She was so beautiful, and still was ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
