Interesting review. Can't imagine getting one myself (to old!) but one wonders where the hobby may be in say 10-15 years time with the increasing popularity (and affordability?) of 3D printing. Perhaps rather than selling figures in boxes et. al. companies such as Warlords/Foundry etc. will sell you a file and you're expected to print your own. That barn looks like it has quite the "slant" on it !

The market is certainly changing fast and I wouldn’t want to be in the business of selling any physical models in ten years time. There are up-and-coming designers who are creating amazing miniatures that you can download and print as many times as you like. There are services popping up everywhere now that allow you to take along your files and they’ll print them for you. 3D printed terrain is already much cheaper than anything I can order, and I recouped the cost of my printer in the first two weeks of owning it by printing up hundreds of dollars worth of buildings.

PS. You’re never too old to try something new. 😉 I’m only months away from 50 and I’ve found getting into 3D printing really rewarding. I’ve learnt everything by watching UA-cam and I love the fact that I have to tinker (you have to build the printer yourself) and learn new programs. It only cost me a few hundred dollars to get into and consumables and files are cheap. My next step is a resin printer.

Does he do a riverboat for the Sudan ? :-) Do you think you will get a resin printer in the future too?

I haven’t seen a river boat on his site yet but I am looking around. A resin printer is high on my agenda, probably an Elegoo Mars. What about you?

@@thattassiewargamer No mate, with another house move in the offing for this year I need to be thinking about how I can reduce the stuff I own.

So you have another hobby, Darren, 3D printing!! Do you model any 3D stuff or just buy the files in.
    Hope you are keeping well.

Thanks Leslie, I have had a go at 3D modelling and printed up some replacement Windows for 28mm buildings as well as Chain of Command tokens. I also create a Normandy cafe but the price of files is so cheap that it isn’t worth my time to make my own. I wouldn’t call 3D printing another hobby, more like an extension of my Wargaming. It’s the cheapest way to make quality terrain. Cheers. 👍
