- I thoroughly enjoyed the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners series, so naturally I wanted to explore some pixel art related to it! In this video, I translate one of my favourite scenes into a GameBoy Advance look, and experiment with recreating a preem effect from the show!

At first I thought you were going to make a scenario based on Lucy and David barreling down the street on a hospital gurney, dodging traffic a la quicktime events. I didn't think the subway scene would have given you much to work with, but David's Sandevistan ability is super cool to see. You definitely did it justice.
Thanks so much! I considered that one as well, that would be so fun too! :D
6:38 this is so much cooler than just showing the footage normally, I friggin' love it.
It adds atmosphere that makes it feel like we're right there with Brandon doing his thing, stopping and merely checking his source material before continuing on his pixel art.
I bet there even is a proper term for it that's known in documentary film production.
This feels like one of your most complex and beautiful pieces, I absolutely love it!
The cyberpunk hairdo on the CRT Time logo was a nice touch.
Thanks for noticing! 🤘😎✨
Whoa, that's fricken rad!!!
Totally knocked it out of the park again! The aesthetics of Cyberpunk (the Game) seem to work so well with this style of pixel art, everything from the characters to the environment. It's such a cool combination right from the get-go and the execution is amazing 🤩 Loved the little details too like the weathering on the train and the parallaxing background too
The non-destructive effect layers are a feature I wish Aseprite would adapt in some capacity, it's one of the things I dearly miss from Photoshop 😌 It was a smart idea to use them to create the same repetitive effects reliably!
Also thanks for reminding me that I have to catch up on Edge Runners 😎🍿 Gonna have to get on that one soon!
Thanks man! Yeah I'll have to try out Cyberpunk 2077 at some point as well, but even just experiencing the world through the lens of the anime and then translating that to pixel art was a fun experience; I love the character that can be brought in to things like the HUD etc.
Right, I remember seeing that Aseprite can use the 'Color' blending mode for layers, but no Gradient Map, and no formal Adjustment Layers either - wonder if it'd ever be added 🤔 Enjoy Edgerunners btw, it's quite a ride! ✌️😎
I think amazing is an understatement for this masterpiece. The thumbnail on this video is so good too.
I cannot express how much I love this. It perfectly captures the vibe and aesthetic of the show
This is some amazing work as always! This had to have taken quite a while to put together. Edgerunner is also a new favorite anime of mine, the artwork, story, flow. Very impressive stuff. Keep up the outstanding content!
IMMEDIATELY CLICKED, my favorite artist making art from cyberpunk ❤
Yes!!!! This is amazing ❤ all the detail is great, the little NPC animations are super nice touches
After I watched this video I immediately watched this anime.
Now that I finished watching the anime I feel kinda hollow inside. :(
I really love your artwork. :D
that's so incredible Bradon! Gameboy Advanced is one of my personal favorite styles aswell. just enough resolution for beautiful details and a wide enough palette to play around while stlil being in the limited pixely world of early games. oh btw the animation looks sick. the text might need some more time to actually be readable, and maybe a slightly bigger font size might work better too. but the scene feels really alive with all of the subtle things moving here and there
Thanks dude! Yeah that's spot on, it's a great intersection of hardware and resolution - never had one when they were out originally but have been catching up ever since getting in to pixel art :D
That gradient effect on david is such a cool effect! Im surprised we dont see this used often in other pixel art games out there.
Thats a really nice eye catching colour palette in the thumbnail, I clicked on it because of the colour scheme, it works 👍🏻
Bro I just came across this video in my recommendations and I got more than I expected. Really good work man def deserved a sub 👍
that cathode ray bath was nice at the end
This is your best work yet. Absolutely nuts
This looks like it could be such a fun little game! Wonderful job! I can't but imagine this style in a multiplayer side scrolling beat em up game.
insanely well done, as always. I love watching the timelapse and hearing your creative process during the whole video. The extra effort animating the whole thing is really appreciated. Good job, Brandon!
one in the setting with the two floating kois would be perfect too, I think it's the most "cyberpunk" setting I see
the david ability looks fantastic
Damn ! I would absolutely love to play a Cyberpunk Edgerunners game like this !
You completely nailed it !
Fantastic work !
ART STYLE 10/10
Okay. i finally had the time to watch this entire video & I'm super impressed. I didn't know so much effort was needed just to make one gif but it definitely paid off, considering how many moving individual parts this has. I wonder if the Edgerunners crew has seen this gif?
Nova! Really cool to see you adapt things to your style.
Man you are so good at pixeling stuff! I love your work
I agree with the others that I'd love to see you take a similar approach to the scenes from Akira to some of the other more dynamic moments from this show, because my god this was incredibly well done!
This video deserves so much more love! AMAZING work, Brandon!
F*** dude! I am just in awe of your whole talent and process! That was so cool. Thanks for sharing it with us.
The endresult looks so nice!! Good work!
Oh man, this is one of my favourite creations of yours yet!
I cannot stress enough how absolutely amazing your channel is!
So awsome! You go beyond for your videos Brandon. The beautifully painted concept usually in animation (bonus point always) and the consistency of the videos formatting with the intro and outro. It's great content man, Always a great job!
Niiiice - great to see you using that clip to layer feature! Fun stuff
Thanks! That was a life-saver for this, now I'm hooked - "what else can I clip?!" 😆
It’s a good night when Brandon uploads 😁😁😁 keep up the amazing work Brandon🙂
Not sure how I missed this upload! One of my favorite pieces of yours in a while, its a great showcase of how far your skills have developed the past year or two. You killed it man
This looks amazing! I enjoyed seeing and hearing about the process as I’ve been wanting to try pixel art myself
astounding work
First time coming across one of your videos. Really impressive pixel art design. Keep up the good work.
Your videos are always fun! You're the best, brandon! :D
Amazing work as usual!
This is just unreal !!! Love it
love this as usual, keep it up! ♥
Always love watching your videos, very inspirational
Great job! You made this look so cool.
this was amazing, this was something I didn't think I needed, but now I do
Being a fan of the show, seeing this is a dream come true lol absolutely incredibly job. Brings me so much joy to see your creations come to life.
Love your stuff. Pixel art is one of my artistic hobbies, it is part nostalgia but also part exercise in a kind of confined artistic expression. Working in a medium that is restrictive is challenging, yet freeing and exciting all at once. It has boundaries but there is no end to its possibilities. Keep doing what you do! It's rad.
Absolutely amazing, you are a really good artist, good job❤❤
Awesome work recreating this scene. Makes me want to recreate others from the show.
I would buy this to make it a wall paper on my pc background. I love pixel art, i love sci-fi universe, i love cyberpunk (the genre and the game/+anime). And i love these old type video games.
I LOVE THIS. Awesome vid mate. New sub right here
I don't do pixel art professionally or as a hobby much anymore, but I enjoy watching these vids of you creating scenes in pixel art
Wow, awesome to see these characters brought to life within pixels
This is the sickest thing I ever seen, big up man
I don't have words, you make really nice work with any theme)
First of all thank you for your videos, I’m kind of excited when I get to watch your new ones, and UA-cam always suggests me some of your older ones, which I love also.
Secondly, Cyberpunk in general and the Netflix series was freaking awesome, you’ve definitely got the vibe (for me).
Bonus(ly) you’ve introduced me to the artist of the soundtrack! They’re amazing!
Keep up! Thank you once again for your content!
What got me is when he matched the Edgerunner typefont style in the hud.
You're so good at this, Awesome!!
Love your videos!
You really did go above and beyond with this pixel art, i really like how Lucy (A.K.A best girl) ended up looking.
this is absolutely amazing and beautifull
Super cool. I love the little photoshop tricks I learn from your videos!
really awesome, especially how you did the slow mo effect. good stuff
also, i need this as a .gif
The layering work looks very clean, and the overall result is impressive. Well done!
Wow This looks amazing!
awesome job! The animation it's so nice
Amazing Work love it
As a pixel artist myself, this is effing fantastic
Wow, amazing work, really detailed scene!
Amazing work as allways
i love your content dude. more power
Amazing is an understatement. You sir are an artist.
Oh nice! I'll have to try the colorization trick. This turned out really, really cool!
Absolutely stunning! Now I have to watch a lot more of your videos :D I have always liked pixel art but as I am not an artist myself I usually just don't see it that much. I sometimes like to do perler copies of some of the awesome pixel art scenes and this one really made me want to do one from this! Again absolutely fantastic job and never stop doing this when you have this much skill :3
Looks so polished
I didn't know this video existed! Thanks bro! Really grateful.
Amazing, as always.
Wow this is awesome!
This ended up looking great!
Badass, Very well done! Brings me back to the 90s :)
Masterfully done
This is amazing
Wow! Looks so cool! I love it!!!! 🖤
Wow just wow !!
wow fantastic work man!
I've followed your tutorial through a CRT tv, and I can say that it looks great on it !
Woot! Another great pixel art video
DUDE, YOU GAVE ME AN INSPIRATION FOR A VIDEOGAME!
damn i am honestly blone away how much some few pixels how this much story
Incredible!
There really is something about the GBA that hits that perfect balance in resolution and color. I tend to think PS1 sprite-based games were also pretty fantastic, but when I really think about it the limitations of the GBA's resolution add a certain iconic look to it. It's just enough space to be detailed, but not enough to go overboard.
Damn, this is awesome! I've been working on pixel art in Aseprite for a bit now and I'm definitely inspired right now.
Man I think you're way more talented than you let on or we know. I Hope an indie dev snatches you up and puts you in charge of art for something I get to play someday.
Dedication is Freaking awesome
This would make a good wallpaper engine live wallpaper! Awesome work man! Love both the game and anime.
Just, wow. Perfect
You're awesome! Great video... Thank you for sharing this
Very cool pixel art!
Brandon, how are you so good at making EXACTLY the vids I want to see, without me even knowing I wanted them?
Goddamn what a pro! this is so cool.
Amazing work! I actually want to re-watch the show one more time now lol
