Ireland attracted the top 12 point allocation from the Australian jury vote, as well as a 10 from the UK audience as part of a total of 136 from the overall audience vote, but ultimately failed to catch eventual winner Switzerland’s Nemo.

I was horrified that a contest that was about the song and the performance had become this grotesque hideous monstrosity. UK entry was at best embarrassing in every way. I felt ashamed and disgusted.

In recent years my daughter only had one classmate who changed to a boy for about a year before changing back to a girl. In Switzerland we do this exclusively with hairstyle, clothes and pronouns and there was no damage to the health of the school kid. The other kids were very flexible with this choice and I think they all learned something, e.g. how to be inclusive, and that the human condition is liable to change.

3/4 of the contestants were avowed freaks. Beautiful women with great voices and good choreography hardly got any points - Cyprus and Austria. Normal women such as Italy, Portugal, and Georgia were hardly in the run. The French contestant had a great voice and song, no scandal, and managed to get into the top 5 while winning Israel's jury 12 points. I voted for Israel, first time I've ever watched and voted in my life- you can't vote for the candidate in the country you're voting from.

Sorry I am broad minded, but a song contest we enjoyed in the 1960’ and 70’s has been high jacked by a minority representative of the overall population. The production, dancers and general sleeze seems more important than the music. What music there is seems so similar to all the rest (ok so was BOOM, Banger Bang Boom by Lulu).
