I and about 7 friends ride the shit out of these on regular basis. We have a badger / raptor 80 grave yard. The most fun for bigger people to play with. We run round tracks with banks, slick track round track, mini moto and woods courses the we built ourselves on 40 acres. The weird thing is we all grew up rinding them. Anytime one comes up on Craigslist we snatch them up. Yamaha parts are to expensive. Weisco poston, new clutch, valves, doings, seals and clutch for motor good to go. Oh plus wheel bearings for front and rear hubs. New wheeler and tons of little fun
I hope one day he shows his kids what you did for him. I wish i would have done a video of building my daughters truck. I got pics though! Good job man! Good job! Cant wait to see Mr. H on it!
Hey thank you for the video, I'm about to tear down a 86 moto 4 (same thing basically) I was unsure what to do or where to start.. but your video quickly showed me basically what to look for and how easy it really is to rebuild. My issue was, my in law passed this to me for my son, it's been years since it stopped running and he's unsure what happened when his kids broke it. Well the story was unnecessary I guess but I loved learning from your video!!
Thinking about buying a 1986 Badger for $400. Kid says it needs basics (carb, starter, battery). Good deal? Looking to build this up for my kids. 10 years old.
I picked up a nice 96 model last week for just $175 bucks. It was not that bad. No rust engine has spark and good compression body is almost mint no cracks and not faded. Tires were shot carb was stupid dirty rear brakes locked up front hub was out of its socket and front brake cables were shot plus no key. I've replaced all brakes brake cables carb kit new ignition switch and keys and new kenda tires on the way. Also changed oil set valves I set mine at .005 both valves . Should have it up and running in a few days. It's been about a 2 week project. I have about $450 invested in it including tires and all parts and what I paid for it. Its gonna be 100% when I'm done and will give myself and my kids a nice ATV to ride around the house for years to come. People seem to ditch these for cheap and they a great atvs to play around on esp in a small area like an acre or 2 . And handle an adult up to like 220lbs. Easy

I have a 1988 badger 80. I was wondering what is the biggest big bore kit I can get for my badger?
How do you set the timing?
The very thing i wanted/needed to see was the timing chain install with location for valves.. scratching my head how to put it back properly...
The line on the camshaft gear had to line up with the Triangle on the top of the casing at TDC.
How big of an ultrasonic cleaner did you use for the engine cases? Any recommendations? Thanks
I use a parts cleaner for the cases. The ultrasonic cleaner is about 4L maybe. Then I also has a Sand Blasting Cabinet that I use soda in.

Thank you very much Troy. This is turning into a great project, and I think he will love it. Also will be a fun pit bike for us haha.

Hey man great video. Where were you able to find your parts? I’ve been having a hard time finding anything for mine. All discontinued.

I'm loving the badger build vids👍🎉 can't wait to see the others. I have a 1990 champ 💯 engine torn down on my kitchen table rite now!!
Where can I find that cutch steel balls
Ps .004 for both valves is not correct. Just FYI
my Clymer manual says 3-5 thou for both so what is correct?
Glad to finally see part 2 I really like this project
Thank you! It has been a fun project so far. Kind of at a stand still for now waiting on parts or a whole other parts 80.
