I've always been really bad at outlining my work. I think it's why I tend to stick to shorter-form stuff like songs, vignettes, and 5-minute videos, where if I just start writing I can finish before my lack of planning pushes me completely off the rails. Still, it's great to see how people who actually know what they're doing do things!

Yeah, sometimes just writing and getting things out can work really well. I've found that outlining is mostly awesome when you just need to figure out where you're headed. I would imagine with your videos, that you more or less know where you're headed when you start with a song. But the next video is going to be more about how to build work by focusing even more on the guided tour idea, which I think is an even better way to do things.
Sneak Peak: Focus on your own thinking process on any given topic and try to capture that process for an audience. If you stumbled on an idea naturally, try to create that experience for your view/reader. I'll have some official strategies when it's all said and done, but the idea is to replicate real thought instead of building thesis-support essays like they teach you in school.
Thanks for the comment and keep up the good work.

I totally had a "deer in the headlights" moment in 7th grade English class. The prompt was to write an essay (like, 30 minutes or something) on what I would do if I could read other peoples' thoughts. I just sat there thinking, "Dear God, I don't WANT to be able to read other peoples' thoughts!"

Timed writing like that can be miserable. I taught for several years in a district that required a writing exam for graduation, and that "deer in the headlights" moment affected many students. Luckily, they dropped said requirement. But yeah, sometimes when I write along side my students, I feel the panic as well.
