As I have understood it Mr. Zappa looked at himself as kind of an amateur social anthropologist writing most of his lyrics about what he saw ocuring around him in his everyday life or heard other people tell him about their experiences. I’m quite sure he wrote all lyrics by himself but certainly he used other persons phrases here and there. Great reaction as always.👍

@@globextradingsystemsllc1740 what BS, Vinnie period is Zappa's most musicial period, Zappa's playing was off the wall during the Vinnie period, as far as popularirty is concerned Zappa did not care about that, his best bands were 78-82.

Frank did collaborate with fellow band members in his music writing, particularly early with the Mothers when Ian Underwood worked closely with Frank. A lot of Franks' lyrics came from experiences the band had on the road, so while that may not exactly be collaboration, the band's experiences provided material for Frank's lyrics. Generally speaking though, I believe Frank wrote the vast majority of the lyrics in his music. If you start digging into the documentaries about him, you'll hear numerous people saying that Frank worked non-stop - for days at a time sometimes.
@@marlon-jl4ge oh, now that comes from the mouth of a true musician. I kneel down in admiration. Oh wait - you do not even know what the f*ck you are talking about. Well then go someplace else and spill your guts out.... Poor creature not being able to see good music when it is diplayed in your face. I feel pity for you....
Jeff Simmons would dissagree with you, he's ONE of the band members that accused Zaapa of stealing his lyrics. Like I said in another response here... it's debatable... BUT... it still needs to be said. In the long run... even if Zappa DID take FULL sentences that people uttered and turned them into songs... if you didn't patent your words when they were coming out yer damn mouth....heh heh heh...they're free game.
Welll sometimes somebody in the band will say something or do something funny that Frank hears or sees and then adds it into a song... so technically, he uses things people say in his songs, but... HE writes the songs... an example is a band member coming out of the bathroom on the tour bus one day screaming and asking Frank and the other guys in the bus..."Why does it hurt when I pee?" Now if you know anything about Zappa.. you know he couldn't NOT write a song about that. There are other examples. The Flo and Eddie group said that Zappa would take things they said and write it into songs and force them to sing it, even if it embarrassed them, and some of those members even said that Zappa was, in effect, PLAGERIZING them. It's debatable, but some of them thought that way. Also... there's PLOOK another word that Zappa heard band members use and then incorporated it into his lyrics. Also booger bear.

Now you have to imagine being in your lonely teenage room and listening to the whole side with Yo Mama coming after... That was 1979 for me...

Ian Underwood didn't write a note... and The Mothers would say Zappa was a tyrant...
Zappa was garbage

you need to listen to the live versions of this song from the 1977 tour with unbelieveble guitar solos
It segues into "Yo Mama".
Pretty sure Zappa wrote every word in every one of his songs, even in the Mothers' era...
yep he wrote it all

He was an ugly, boring clown and an ignorant
Ruben and the Jets has songs written by Ray Collins, unless you mean he wrote all of the words to the songs he has credits on
@@steelingcable6350 It is what I meant... BUT I did forget that Ray wrote "Anything"
Frank wrote the lyrics, many based on the antics of the band members over the years. This is "documented" in his film "200 Motels".
4 kids: Moon Unit, Dweezil, Ahmet (Rhodan) and Diva.
"Love to be in his head" - (it's a scary place, lol)
Do more Zappa❤
