- Robert Boll, a Christian, introduces his video of a championship competition during which he set the Guinness World Record for laying the most bricks in an hour. He encourages us to give our all in serving the Lord and others.
As a bricklayer myself, I never did understand this competition on being the fastest sloppiest bricklayer.
I’ve been a bricklayer for the best part of fifty years and the way he built that corner is nothing short of incredible.
You are so gifted. I have been a mason 35 years and really appreciate your speed and quality. Absolutely amazing. You are truly blessed.
I got to work for the guy in 1992 in Denver. He was fast. And good people good to know him.

I like the labourer with his little cup of water trying to get the gobbo just right, to then watch them shockingly bad and messy brickies just chuck that shit down like its dog shit. LOL
Yeah BUT those PILES of PLOP were transformed into neat joints once the bricks were placed and the excess quickly scraped off.

My dad and uncle are journeyman mason's,.... my dad said to properly learn all there is, you would need 3 lifetimes,...
Masonry is a craft that you never stop learning,... Out of all the trades there are I like masonry the best.
Most people don't realize that Good Mason's are also Carpenters.
But carpenters are NOT mason's,...

Just wondering why two parallel lines of bricks extended 26 feet and the only cross bricks were those placed at both ends and not every few feet throughout the 26 feet. Besides this observation, I loved the way the mortar was plopped down seemingly in messy piles and then became neat joints as soon as the bricks were put into place.
They need to do it on a timber frame house with speed poles.

shit hanging everywhere, joints half empty, knee deep in mortar by scaffold high. Never leave a brick till it is cut clean everywhere even on top. BOOT for sure! Boots covered in mortar tells the story.

I'm with you BUT ... it's Christian to be tolerant of other people's beliefs even if one is NOT a Christian oneself. If his Christian beliefs work for him and get him motivated when he was never motivated before, I'd say that's pretty impressive, even to those of us who are NON-BELIEVERS! I found being AGNOSTIC more comfortable than being an Atheist as I'm not smart enough to have all the answers. I'm confident that if there is some "Higher Power" out there, then I'll be "SAVED" along with the rest of the believers because I do my best to live my life according to the GOLDEN RULE. I don't need to fear "the wrath of God" in order to behave myself properly when nobody is watching me. I've been "inner directed" all my life and never really trusted anyone who only does he "right thing" because they think they are being watched.

its a bit of fun to see how many bricks they can put down in a hour I think its quite amusing these guys on site would still be good so good luck to them . I am laying 700 day
face work all plumb and pointed I charge £1 per brick but still have to pay the labour £40 a day . the trouble I have is trying to get the hod in the porche

Yes it fast but this is garbage work that would never sell and would have to be tore down and re-done. If you did it the correct way the first time it would be faster than tearing down and doing it all over again! This kinda stuff makes masonry look bad!!
I am an ex bricky its ok being fast but i think it is better to do neat tidy work did you build the wall behind you look at all the lips on the bricks POOR standard of work.looking at the speed merchants there is more mortar going on the floor this is why the building trade has such a bad name dont be taken in by this rubbish1111111111111

I am a bricklayer as we for the last 36 years and I too am really picky with my head joints etc. I would not do well in one of these competitions. This guy is very coordinated though. If he was not racing I bet he could do some really nice work pretty damned quick.

sloppy spread for sure. So what architectural spec would that kind of work meet? Nothing I have ever read.in 43 years. 1/4" face joint what a joke. No wonder the business is in collapse.
no one would want that pile of crap at their front door. That is zero talent work that would meet zero masonry specs. Garbage! Anyone can throw up garbage. Like I have said before you don't have a NASCAR pit stop contest and leave off a few lug nuts and claim it's for speed. They head joints will never be filled because mortar don't flow like water.
