Seeing you trim Reclamations every matchup hurt. I would mulligan a bit more for Crab + Reclamation, since the entire mana base is designed around it, and I would trim copy spells (especially in game 2, where Laughter sucked) before Reclamations.

    • @peytonmillner6417

Nah his problem is he rushes the crabs. It's a combo deck. Not a slow burn. His crabs never lasted more than 2 turns when he lost. Most didn't even make it back to him. Crabs can be all cast at once then the double Land dropped. Also any form of land ramp over the draw 3 discard a land or 2 card would yield better results when combed with copy spells and crabs.

Oooh, this is fun. Jim Davis was trying to get these trivolving wilds to pop off with a splendid reclamation + valakut exploration + felidar retreat plan a little bit ago and that was also cool to see (tho not super competitive, unfortunately).
Fable seems like it would be good here. It’s obviously not focused on milling the opp out, but the card filtering would be great given the reclamation plan plus how many lands the deck draws and it presents two threats/chump blockers that might buy you a turn or give you the mana to get another spell off.
Annul is probably a better sideboard choice than test of talents here. Stops fable, chariot, wedding invitation, etc.

Hey Seth, great video as always! I’d like to add one thing for anyone playing this deck.. in the first game of match four, it would’ve been a good idea to cast the copy spell before casting the Maddening Cacophony just in case one of those last two cards was a counter! So, if you’ve got the mana, always copy. Better to be sure you’ll hit it than bank on them not having a counter!

I play a UB mill deck in mythic that is similar (copies with Teach By Example). I tend to run 3 Maddening Cacophony, as it doesn't feel good outside of kicking it. I also only run 3 copy spells, as it rarely feels good to have more than one. I wonder if cutting a land, Cacophony and Galvanic for 3 Considers would be good as they could help fix your hand while putting Galvanic and lands into your graveyard as well.

Why is a format of "which color midrange would you like to play" so popular

    • @drpibisback7680
      @drpibisback7680 2 роки тому

First of all, Standard is not that popular. Second, a lot of people like to play Midrange. It feels more like "Magic as Garfield intended" than whatever nonsense is going on in Modern and Legacy, and sometimes you just don't want to Draft (which remains by far the most popular way to play paper Magic, I'd wager). Plus it's basically the only constructed format where brewing is still possible due to the power level of all the non-rotating formats - even Pioneer has an enormous gulf between Tier 1 and Tier 2.

He is playing it both budget and non green. Honestly self milling with THAT many sac lands would be destructive. He rushes the crabs into certain death with protection in hand by not waiting a single turn. And he doesnt use green land ramp cards.
He is playing 2 different combo mill decks at once. Combo Tasha and maddening.
And combo crab and reclamation/sac lands. The combo is fine he just is playing decks that fight each other. Galvanic/duel needs large amounts of mana. He has green but is always 1 land behind pre reclamation.

I think this deck is better if you play it more as a combo deck and less as a mill deck. I'd maybe even target myself with the mill early on if I'm biding time for a Spendid Rec turn. Seriously, hearing you complain about how bad Tasha's Hideous Laughter is and then cut Spendids instead just shows you aren't playing the deck right.

    Oh god, Temur mill.
Temur Reclamation, Temur Adventures, Temur Ramp.
    Why does Temur stay alive?

I mean, all of those were extremely good Temur decks, whereas this is pretty questionable.

The main thing that those four decks have in common is that they happen to share the same colors.
EDIT: I mostly bring that up because it makes lumping all four of them under Temur and asking why Temur is still alive feel kinda weird to me.

Legit question: Does this personality normally talk like that, or is it a voice he puts on for these videos?

This deck is mean. I was playing it. I hit a 4x Tasha and one hit my opponent.
