Also, for anyone coming to the comments to defend Gala Greeters, Seth didn't realize until a while later that you can do all three EVERY turn. He thought that once each were picked, you would never get the effects again, like Demonic Pact. He now thinks it's quite good, which it is lol.
Yeah, I totally misread it at first. I thought it only triggered once forever, but it's once each turn, which means its actually pretty good and I'm sort of bad a reading ;)
@@MTGGoldfish I have to imagine your first reaction was, "Wow this card is just ehh..." And then seeing people liking this card and being like, "Why do people like this bad card?" And then seeing it in action and that it's not an only once thing, and being like, "Oh, yeah, I see now."
25:42 for anyone else playing titan of industry, don't target a treasure! Your opponent can sac it in response and fizzle the trigger, meaning you get no rhino!
Yeah, right now its cheap enough to make it work, but I think it's going to get more expensive. The card is absurd and already showing up a bit in Primeval Titan decks in Modern.
@@MTGGoldfish Your instincts on the Titan of Industry were spot on. One of your better set-release calls. But in this deck, the Heavy is doing seriously good work. Triggers the fight, huge early damage or else draws cards and is a massive body on defense... kind of does all the things.
How’s the tampering working? It’s trigger just seemed to slow for me. I left it out of my Golgari build because it seems by the time it triggers you could hardcast your spell.
Literally made a similar deck to this last night. I'd run a single copy of the tarrasque as well. Sure he's less good as a reanimation target but hitting it off fight rigging t4 is disgustingly good.
Been running a similar build to a 10 win streak last night. The black hideaway isn’t in my build. It’s too slow and by the time it triggers I can hard cast the threats. I’ve maindecked a few meat hooks. It’s messed up a lot of wide decks I commonly see (white weiners and the B/R builds). I’ve run a total of 5 reanimating spells, one of the most frustrating things in reanimated builds is a heavy being stuck in your hand. This is largely solved by the meta, Opponents Ob Nix has helped me multiple times by letting me toss a titan or tox into the yard so I can cheaply bring it back. Really fun deck to pilot.
I’m running this in platinum and it does pretty well. The power spikes are wild and the cemetery tampering feels hard to get going early, even with constant mill. However, the late game cemetery tampering is awesome. It seems opponents forget about the trigger. I really like getting a titan off on turn 4 when you have a shakedown heavy and fight rigging in hand.
I understand and respect that arena budget and paper budget are totally different, but do you think you'll do a budget deck that's lighter on rares and mythical.
Yeah, the deck I'm working on for next week has 12 rares/mythics, so that one will be a bit more budget friendly on Arena. In the past I tried to make all Standard budget decks cheap on Arena, but realized I mostly just stopped making Standard budget decks because the Arena economy sucks and I couldn't play cool things, so now I try to make decks cheap on Arena when possible, but decided I'm not going to cross decks I want to play off the list just because Arena's economy is a mess.
regarding ziatora's envoy: I'm not crazy high ranked, but I put together a little jund list that's been doing damn well, and ziatora's envoy is a cornerstone. its crazy value
Titan is definitely a sleeper card. A reanimation target Thragtusk was 2 other options is almost always going to be good in standard. May not get the token on death, but 11 power with upside for 3 or "free" is fantastic
Yeah! I never promise I'll play a deck without seeing it, but I love looking at decks from viewers and if I find them interesting I'll play them on youtube or the stream. Feel free to link me the deck here or you can email it to me at SaffronOlive@MTGGoldfish.com.
24:10 If you kill Skyclave Apparition before the ETB resolves, the target doesn't get exiled at all (which Seth could have done with Infernal Grasp). This is due the fact that the ability is one single ability (no paragraph break). Compare this to Fiend Hunter or Journey to Nowhere which specifically have to two separate triggered abilities which trigger on different events, which if removed before the ETB resolves, the LTB resolves and does nothing, and then the ETB resolves exiling indefinitely.
This is absolutely incorrect. Because skyclave LTB ability doesn’t return a card, but creates a token, destroying it before the ETB resolves let’s you “create an X/X” token (but there’s no “X” because the ETB has yet to resolve) and then the ETB (“exile target nonland permanent”) resolves. Do not, I repeat, do NOT kill skyclave in response to the etb unless you don’t want the token for some reason.
I was surprised by how well it worked actually. I thought it would win some games, but I've still been playing the deck (in best of three now) and it just keeps winning.
I think you should heavily rework your concept of budget deck for Arena, it makes no sense to me that your deck is filled with a bunch of bulk niche rares from the new set and lacks good mana which has been in Standard for months and is what every Arena player crafts first. As a result, the quality of gameplay is reduced in the name of consistency with the MODO economy, which regarding Standard is outdated for the most of us.
I've mostly given up on making decks budget-friendly on Arena, the economy is just too punishing. When possible I try to keep decks cheap on Arena (the deck I'm working on for next week is 12 rares/mythics), but I decided I wasn't going to avoid playing cool decks because Arena's economy is a mess.
I never liked that he didn’t just put -1/-1 counters on stuff, mostly because of EDH (because of course) but still. Just use existing mechanics and let us do fun things with them.
Toxrill isn't worded that way because of EDH, it's because of power level. The slime counters do nothing when Toxrill is removed. It keeps an already insane card from being crippling even when removed.
Yeah, I think the idea is to power it down a little bit. If you can kill Toxrill your creatures go back to normal (it does add a bit of flavor too I guess).
@@Stez007 no, i know that, Im saying the reason ‘I’ care about it is because of EDH, which I never used to play but now is like the only format I can reliably bring myself to care about 😅
I gotta mute some of Seth's commentary cause it's so annoying hearing him elongate every vowel when he's trying to fill dead space. The webcam actually helps cause you can literally see him going "then we attaaaaack and opponent blooooocks and we play a laaaaand and we pass the tuuurn" Just way too much of that

i've heard so much negative talk about the Gala Greeters but it really does look like a sweet card.

Diregraf Rebirth is lowkey amazing. Getting your opponent to chump block just to turn around and reanimate stuff on the cheap is so awesome.
I love how Seth says “we’re not supposed to scoop during early access” and then scoops before death
You are allowed to scoop if you are dead on board (but they don't want you to scoop before that).
I just built a Cemetery Tampering deck this morning! I went with UB for Jin-Gitaxias, but Titan is probably better.

If you choose destroy artifact and make a rhino with titan and target a treasure, can't they sac the treasure in response to fizzle the whole ability?
Thoughts on Jund version of this so you can sac your big creatures to Ob Nixilis? Gets you so close to his ultimate
Not easy to do on a budget because of Ob and needing more lands, but if budget isn't a concerned, sounds sweet!
