  • Hello everyone, welcome back to the channel!
In this video, I will be demonstrating how I remove and replace the door lock & solenoid assembly on the Mini One and Mini Cooper, this applies to the R50 and R53 models and is very similar on R52 models although the convertible does have a slightly different doors. The basic principle is the same though.
On this particular car, the door would lock from the remote fob but would not unlock. This meant that the door had to be unlocked by pulling on the interior handle every time a passenger needed to enter the vehicle.

You do not have to remove the window mechanism , only take the bottom 10mm bolt out , mark it original position with a marker pen and pull to the inside skin of the door
Thanks for reading ........just to save time , Cheers then mate ps I've jus replaced this part Myself .

Excellent video, many thanks for taking the time to film and share. Could you tell me if your existing key was immediately successful or did you have to somehow sync them?

It doesn’t affect the lock at all mate as that is independent of the actual mechanism so nothing to worry about with the key 👍🏻

@@KevsShed Thank you for your time Kev. The part I bought is second hand but complete. Lock, solenoid, cable etc. It's a convertible and there isn't a key entry on the n/s meaning it operates from drivers side. Sorry I wasn't clear. I wondered if the original fob had to be programmed the new Lock. Sorry as you've probably gathered I'm no mechanic 😁, cheers 👍

Hi, Thanks for the info Kev. Now then, my mini {2011, R57 LCI} has a slightly different problem. Both my fobs appear to unlock my car, but, neither handle will open the door. My inner door panels appear to be different than yours. I think that I need to have the door open, to remove the inner panel. How can I overcome the door latch? Any thoughts? Steve.

Intermittently, my wife's 2013 door will not latch fully shut... when you let go, it remains slightly open. Is the Actuator the problem?

You did not need to remove the window strut just remove 10mm bolt under door mark inside on the plastic slider its position then move it back to enable actuator to come through its a tight fit but at the right angle it comes out...
