When I was 16 I had this happen to me right after I left a psychiatric hospital. Out of all the sports I played while having this cyst, simply standing up after getting off the couch while eating a jenny craig cinnamon roll for breakfast is what triggered the torsion. I don't know why but I was vomiting for a few hours before I went to the ER. My cyst had 8 or 9 pounds of fluid and the doctors compared my cyst to AN INFANT before my surgery!!!! Also don't underestimate the pain of a torsion! They suspected that I had a ruptured appendix so they gave me an ultrasound and laying on my back during that was probably the most painful thing I've ever experienced. I only went to the ER because my pediatrician told my mom that I should go get fluids because he thought I had a stomach bug.
Yikes, so sorry to hear about this experience!
Yes this is happening to me right now. They thought I had appendicitis. Just 2 cysts and a possibly ectopic pregnancy. (They can’t see the possible embryo because of the cysts, they block my entire uterus view)
I was in so much pain from the cyst & torsion that I could only crawl to get around the house. While we were on the phone with 911, I started vomiting and profusely sweating. I thought something burst & I legitimately thought I could die. My 28yr old friend dropped dead almost 3yrs ago, most likely from a clot associated with birth control she just started taking to help with her intense periods. I kept replaying he possibility in my head that I had a burst appendix or a clot situation going on.
When I got to the hospital, they thought the cyst was 9in on my right side, and just brushed off the fact that they couldn't see my left ovary at all. Well, they couldn't see it because the cyst was so large that it expanded into my left side and was covering my ovary from view. I delivered a basketball to watermelon cyst the next night in the OR.
Just lost my left ovary last wk because a cyst, greater than the size of a basketball, twisted itself around my tube/ovary. I am in my 30's. In addition, docs couldn't do a lapro procedure to remove everything. I now have a large vertical incision across my abdomen. Listen to this doc and to your body!
oh my, I am so sorry!!!!
Am so sorry, can u tell what was the size of ur cyst and the type of cyst?
Hey, just want to know how is your recovery now 2 months later? Hope your doing well.
Hi y'all! Thanks for the concern. The pathology report came back, and no sign of infection or cancer was found within the cyst (benign, clear-fluid cyst). However, I had small cysts in the ovary I lost. One doc I talked to said the large cyst and smaller cysts were not related. (I will find another doc in the future to chat about the other cysts, and see if this might be an indication of PCOS or not.)
My approx 10in incision, w/30-40 staples, did not get infected. However, I had a hard time healing my belly button. It was hard keeping the wound edges together, and there was a good amount of drainage. Thankfully, the open belly button incision is closed now. Though, my belly button looks like it belongs to Frankenstein lol.
I pulled up my back about 2-3 days out from the hospital. I have about 4 litters of foster kittens. I got tired of watching my foster partner exhausting themselves trying to take care of everything. I thought I could handle sweeping litter off the floor, since I have a standing broom & dustpan that does not require bending. Well...bad idea! I had to take muscle relaxers for weeks because of my back. Thankfully, this has worked itself out for the most part as well. I'm almost 100% back to where I was. Once my back is fully recovered, I'll probably be a bit better than before because I do not feel as bloated/less pressure around my abdomen.
Once again, thanks for the concern. Stay healthy y'all!
I have an 9.1 cm cyst on my right ovary, but no symptoms and I still get my cycle. My ob sent me to a gynecological surgeon to get it check it out and possibly get it removed. The scary part is possibly losing an ovary so young.
Most skilled surgeons can save the ovary.
Thank you for the information. I have a 12x12x11cm cyst and it’s causing me loads of problems; urinary retention & urgency, pain, nausea etc but my doctors are in no rush to remove it. I’m post menopausal and just want it out! I don’t know what to do ☹️
Yes, I would seek a second opinion!
🙏🙏
I had this at 27. It was a 10 cm cyst that weighed down on my ovary causing the torsion. I sadly lost the ovary.
I am so sorry to hear that
Mine was 8cm and I lost my tube and ovary 😢
🙏🙏
Am so sorry
I am 17 . I am diagnosed with 10cm cyst in the left ovary . 😢😢Will the doctor suggest to do surgery ????? By reading all the comments i am much scared 😢
Get it removed immediately I just went into surgery today for two on both side I am in pain right now but it’s better then losing an ovary go to a doc please you’re so young
@@OphismEdits ohhh ok thanks for the reply ... Now my doctor advised to do laparoscopic surgery
Will it be more pain after the surgery 😔
@@abhinayak4606 my doctor performed a laparoscopic also yesterday the pain is painful sharp pains here and there hard to get up I had two on both side so each side is very painful for me also a lot of gas is buildup in your shoulders afterwards and bloated feeling
Probably, unless it looks entirely benign and it doesn't bother you.
Phew this video puts me at ease I was just told this morning that I have a cyst.
Thanks, and take care
Wish i could "seek care right away". Been in pain for a month and all they did was an MRI and told me to wait "till end august vacations". I'm on ibuprofen/paracet every 12 hours, can't sleep.
I had an ovarian cyst burst a few months ago. But pain comes back regularly and it’s not period pain. What should I do? It’s hard to see a gynaecologist or even a doctor in my country I had to go to the emergency when my cyst burst because I thought it was appendicitis.. thank you
I had an ultrasound today as we were looking to see any cause of my secondary infertility. Found a 10cm cyst next to my right ovary. It was hard to tell if attached or just next to. They didn’t seem to think it was urgent. But I’m trying to get pregnant and now I’m worried if I should be holding off. Don’t see the doc for like 2 weeks to discuss…..
At 10 cm, may be best to remove it.
Hi, after experiencing UTI like symptoms of frequent urination with no Bacteria I got a CT scan which revealed the following: Of significance, within the left adnexa, there is an indeterminate mildly complex, 5.2 cm x 3.9 cm x 5.3 cm cystic abnormality identified (image 133 of series 3) ( It demonstrates elevated Hounsfield units of 30.) It is causing some mass effect on the bladder and it also extends to the left wall of the uterus.
Is this verbiage for possible cancer or is this common? Also the fact that it’s pressing on my bladder means it has to be removed right?
I have adenomysosis with a 2cm fibroid 3 weeks later right sided ureter dilation in pelvic region only and 9 days later a 5cm by 4cm left ovarian cyst volume 28cc nobdiy undertands my daily pain its terrible
So sorry, speak with your doc about options.
Cam the ovarian cyst cause torsion if it is a simple cyst? It wasn't present on scan 8 days prior and was almost 5cm at time of next scan. Note I have had fallopian tubes removed so a Dr said risk of torsion is high
I just came home from the hospital still in pain and they said they can’t do anything for me. It’s not life threatening.
Sorry to hear that you're in pain. SOmetimes, there can be fluid that leaks that can also cause pain.
Im 33, and have an ovary cyst 20cm X 25cm. I have surgery tomorrow and they arent sure if it will be open or lapro. I am a large lady too
How did you find the cyst prior to surgery? Xray, MRI, ultrasound, CT? Until recently I have not been able to convince a Dr to do imaging to find the source of my chronic pelvic/low back pain. New Dr just did X-ray to rule out skeletal issues, of course none, and of course cysts, fibroids, endometriosis wont show on that either. Next is ultrasound which i am skeptical of...
Ultrasound is the easiest and first test.
I am 30 years of age 3 months postpartum. I have been told I have two large bilateral dermoid cysts 16cm and 12cm. I have an ORAD score of 4 and they are suspecting ovarian cancer. Does this usually happen ? Please help
@TheFibroidDoc Are there different options for patients who has had laparscopic surgery recommended? For example, if the patient didn't want to go into stirrups or have a catheter are there options when two dermoid cysts need to be surgically removed?
May be able to get away without catheter, but the position is important with stirrups.
ultrasound guided ovarian cyst aspiration, not sure that works, please consult the doctor with this option
I have a hemorrhagic cyst of 2.1cm in right ovary last year. Doctor told to not to worry about that , but its causing pain in my lower right side abdomen and pelvis place . Again went to scan this year and now the cyst size is 4.5cm and it is semisolid
. Again doctor telling me to not to worry . I don't know what to do know . Is this cause any problem during pregnancy planning? . Please answer to this doctor
It depends on what type of cyst it is. If it's an endometrioma, I would remove it. Either way, if it's causing pain, its good to remove.
Aoa i am 19 years old and i have cyst about 10.7 cm my dr have told me that it will in sha Allah dissolve on its own and she told me to have an ultrasound after 1 month ... i did my CA 125 test which is normal 13.2 U/ml ... i wanna ask that all cyst which are 10 cm need surgical removement plus if a cyst got rapture the pain is mild or severe how can we know that our cyst got twisted or rapture ...
The cyst size was 107 ml I think it's 10.7 cm if I am not wrong ... plus WHAT things I should not do si I can prevent rapture...
Also can u have gas or indigestion issue if u have cyst
Yes, repeat ultrasound in 6 weeks and see where things are.
Hey are you okay now??
I lost an ovary to a dermoid cyst when I was 17 😢 11 cm
I just found out I have a 10 cm R sided ovarian cyst. I also have crohns and history of open abdominal surgery so no laparoscopy option.
Hmm, I would still see if laparoscopy is an option!

Hi Doc hope you reply, got my dermoid cyst remove last July 2023 now its been 5months after surgery ang im slowly getting same symptoms especially spotting in middle of my period. Can dermoid cyst reoccur? Thanks for all info here❤
Dermoid can recur unfortunately, but spotting could be due to many reasons. Please speak to your GYN.

I was at the ER recently from crippling pain from a cyst, can I just get my ovaries removed? I am 21
oooo, wouldn't do that. Ovaries are so important!
Hello doctor. I am 22 years old . And recently I am diagnosed with 5×8.5×7 cm adenexal cyst . My doctor has told for the surgery . I don't have symptoms and have very less or no pelvic pain . Can it be resolved on it's own with yoga and proper diet ? Because I don't want to undergo surgery now as I have an important exam lining up.
Hi there, cysts sometimes do resolve on their own. You may want to repeat an ultrasound and see.
My mother has 9*6 cms adnexal cyst, she’s 52 what’s the easiest and fast recovery process to remove the cyst?
Laparoscopic surgery is always the best. However, may depend on other characteristics of the cyst.
I have 48 years old and cyst on left ovary 8cm.I be go to sergury remove it.I am afraid of sergury. Can simebody told me is it dangerous if i do not operate.Must doctor remove on sergury ovary?...I do not want loose ovary...😔.Can on sergury be removed ovarys without my promition?...No metter of my age i do not want loose ovarys.
A cyst can be removed without removing the ovary. Usually possible, but not all the time.
Can we get pregnant after losing right ovary due to dermoid cyst .?
Yes, just need one ovary to get pregnant.
I had a cyst that was 21 cm removed last November. I feel like my stomach is still large considering all the exercising and dieting I've done. Do you have any recommendations on what I can do to get my stomach to flatten out? I just got an ultrasound last week to make sure there wasn't any fluid in it the tech said there wasn't.
So probably has nothing to do with the cyst.
Apki ovary b remove hue hy kia
What can I do I have a large cyst
@@OnyinyechiOkoro-oi9ph Depends on many factors. Can monitor vs. remove it. Speak with your GYN
Hi! quick question,
I have an ovarian cyst 5cm on my left ovary, I’m supposed to start physical therapy for a torn adductor on my right inner thigh, but i’m now questioning with the larger ovarian cyst if i should just push everything off for a bit?
I don't think that's necessary
I lost half my ovary during my c section they did not inform me about this I got my tubes burnt away and now I’m missing periods and I’m in pain they told me that I have cyst on my other ovary that I have left. They told me at the er that it’s missing and it was a mistake during surgery what should I do? Get a lawyer? I’m so confused now . Also I got pregnant with an iud in place and they couldn’t find it during the c section and it’s still in my body somewhere.
I'm so sorry, sounds like there's alot going on. I would get an opinion from another gynecologist.
After how long one should go usg post surgery if not able to conceive through natural way
You can start trying 6 months after.
I am diagnosed with 2.8 cm with an internal separation cyst . I have have multiple fibroids biggest one is 7.5 cm . My doctor said no surgery is required . I feel bloated all the time .
So what is the right size of the ovary or cyst when operation is required ???
It all depends on your symptoms. If they bother you, you should consider removing it.
@@TheFibroidDoc Thank you so much for replying .
Is anechoic cyst of 6.4 cm can be cured without surgery because i already have 4 surgeries.. pls reply!
Typically, you can repeat the ultrasound in 1-2 months and see if it goes away.
I have 6cm left ovarian cyst it's removed with laparoscopic surgery is best or not
Laparoscopic surgery is great!
Hello Dr, I have 10.6 × 7.8 cm adnexal cyst and Dr suggests me the removal of cyst. But I'm so afraid of surgery and after complications at this age of 24. Can there be another way to treat or it can go away on its own. Also can it harm to ovary or tube. With this much bigger cyst can I continue to do exercise or not?
I would trust your doctor on this one as 10 cm is quite large.

hello doc. I am 16 yrs old recently, I am diagnosed with endometrioma cyst at the right ovary, 6.3 x 7.8 x 8.7cm . If this possible to cure by exercising ,diet and yoga etc.

Do i need surgery ?
What are the complications after the surgery?
Hi, I would speak to your gyn about the decision to remove the cyst and further complications. It's a fairly straightforward procedure, but everyone's situation is different.
I had right para ovarian cyst with 5cm , I done my surgery last month but again I was diagnosed with right hemorrhagic cyst
My gynae is saying she can’t give me meds to remove my cyst unless I get my periods. I have 3 cysts within 4 cm size. I am afraid about the cysts growing large in the meantime I wait for my periods. I don’t want to have a surgery.
Perhaps seek a second opinion.

Hi that's pretty small. Speak with your gynecologist.

I was having sharp pelvic pain and lower back pain and they just sent me home with pain meds and giving me an appointment for treatment that's two months out... how will i know if it burst
9 cm is large, you may want to consider having that removed. Seek a second opinion.

Is it true that your ovary which has dermoid cyst will stop ovulating will and the other ovary which is healthy will ovulate?
Not necessarily true.
Hi. I read somewhere that after laparoscopy there are so many complications. Please guide me. I'm very depressed about this thing🥺🥺
No, most people go home the same day. You should discuss with your surgeons about potential complications.
Im 16 and i have a 6.4 x 7 x 8.2 cyst. I will get surgery next week if i get aproved for anesthesia. If nothing happends before the surgery, no torsionwil my ovaries be fine?
Hopefully yes. Torsion would lead to severe pain.
@TheFibroidDoc thankfully i had no torsion and everthing was fine
Ma'am my relative has 2 cysts in her left ovary. One is a simple cyst 3.8x3.5 and another is hemorrhagic cyst 4x3.9. Right ovary was removed due to torsion and necrosis of ovary a few years ago.
Is surgical procedure required in her case? Also ma'am what is the root cause for cysts this big in the ovary? It is very different from pcos right?
Hi there, whether surgery is required or not is a pretty complex question. I would speak to her gynecologist about it. Root cause of cysts are unknown. PCOS cysts are different.
I have endometrioma around 16*17 cm and one cyst 6*7 cm without any symptoms what should I do ? I don’t want a surgery
That's very large. Your doctor probably suggests removing it. pros and cons to both.
