All the videos we have coming up will be bringing out all the haters! We are going completely old school. There is no better time than now when the trucking industry is struggling!!
SUP DRIV,AH? I WAS THINKING ALL US SUBSCRIBER'S NEED TO DO SOMETHING FOR YOUR POP'S HE'S ALWAYS WORKING SO HARD AND DEFINITELY NEEDS TO KNOW HOW APPRECIATED HE TRULY IS ? WHAT YOU SAY BUDDY?
These trucks kept America alive - I started driving ‘em back in the 80’s. They make cool parade toys, but I’ve gotten used to the newer ones. I just don’t think I could give up the comfort & convenience for a 40 year-old back breaker.
Worked at a GMC Dealership back when I was a kid (late 60's 70's. Changed many a cab on the Astros. Knew them inside out. Also worked on Thermo-Kings. Number one problem was the evaporator beeing blocked with paper or plastic cutting down airflow. Easy fix
The local feed mill used to run nothing but GMC General cabovers. All Detroit 2-strokes. As the saying goes, check the fuel, fill the oil. The owner of that feed mill went to great lengths to maintain that fleet for decades after GMC stopped making Generals. They were dragging in parts rigs from all over the country.
That engine sounds so gruff, so sweet, so smooth and grunty! When I was in Hanksville Utah coupla years back on holiday I was grubbing round a junkyard for old licence plates (I'm a English nut job who collects truck and heavy machinery souvenirs and badges) and there was one just like yours there just sitting in the sun, a real beauty. The fella whose yard it was is called Lyle, drills water wells, one of the most friendly people we met on our trip. Anyway, love yer channel guys...YEEEHAW!!
Had a 1977 International cabover with a 350 big cam Cummings with a 13speed for 2yrs and mechanically was awesome but had way to many electrical problems! Truck would do well over 100! One of the best trucks I ever owned!
The wiring was a chronic issue with the older IH product. I ended up doing some re-wiring on my 4300 Transtar, back in the day. Headlights looked like candles. I think it was only getting 10 volts to the bulbs.
I have nothing against roll-up doors, but I have to tell all of my drivers to watch out when they're open and closing them. You can't just slam them around, that's what messes them up Everytime!!! Great video thanks for sharing.
Damn that GMC run’s like a bat outta hell 😄👍 I love cabovers they’re my favorite semis well the big bunk kenworth k100 is then the Peterbilt Cabover then the freightliner and Mack in that order
Tim I have a 98 peterbilt 379 and recently only one of the metals copper pieces that your dad was switching out broke and ended up in the oil pan it broke a small chunk off 1/4 width maybe a inch long . I believe it was the first or second one from the front of the motor. the motor is a n14 red top. We bought the new parts but I’m just in a tight spot with money to pay a mechanic if you could help a fellow trucker out with anything with putting the new ones in or do you think done for, my motor still spins everything was just working fine before this but I love the channel and where your taking it
If one of your bearings broke your gonna need to do some investigating, a big chunk of metal breaking might have done some big damage. I recommend you take the main bearing cap off where the one broke and carefuly inspect if it is savable, also for the love of god please do not spin the motor anymore. Theirs loose metal inside your engine. Do not spin it anymore
This video brought back memories and pains up my back. Drove the Astro’s in the 80s. Dad’s advice: Be careful what you are scratching because everyone can see you with that windshield
Love the old school cabovers!!! My dad drove an old Pete cabovers and it reminds me of riding with him!!!! Love the channel and the content!!! Can't wait to see what's next!!!!
Tim shout out to the cameraman. Last couple videos stepped his game up he’s getting there. You can tell he’s taking pride in what he’s doing. I don’t get seasickness like the first couple videos when he was new lol. Keep it up!!
Hi Tim that Steering Wheel worries me a bit what’s holding it together mate it’s got more cracks then my shed door I’m glad you are happy man Brax is a spiting image of his Mum any ways it’s 3 30 in the morning here best wishes to your Family Cheers mate 👍👍👍💪💪💪😎❤️🦘🦘🦘🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🍺
@George Jones Well in Australia that would be defected my mate and I got 40 years on Semis on Australian Roads and thanx for putting chit on me I would never drive a Truck in that cond you Yanks are know all anyways Truck you
Hey Tim I love the videos! You should get some little microphones that go on your shirt for the times where you have your filmer working, I find it difficult to hear you guys at times when your not actually holding the phone! Keep on truckin !!
O-H-I-O Porter greetings!🇺🇸 Working on this trailer was quite informative. I own a reefer but have never pulled it or any ever before. I’ve pulled flatbeds, old round nose 1950s trailers & box trailers. I might be able to help you on the doors or a complete old reefer unit.🧐 I don’t remember what reefer it has on it. I don’t think it’s a TK though. Interesting title! What do you really think of the current status of trucking?! It seems to be some weird times that’s for sure!😵💫 Reminds me of the 70s when some strikes were goin on. Those were hard times, but the money was better when you got a good run. Fuel was MUCH cheaper back then! It didn’t look like the speedometer was working on the GMC. Loved hearing it running down the road, pulling a trailer. I liked the view of the steering wheel with that notorious GMC horn button sticking out. I can remember that very well. That’s a real wheel & horn button. Don’t see too many of those today on rigs. You almost sounded like …”It’s a cut throat world in trucking right now”. Is that how you feel? I’m sure that there are many companies or drivers that would love to have the runs you have though. Keep them wheels a rollin & we will catch you on the flip flop! Blessings! 🥰😎✌️
I gave up doing a/c cause too many cheapskates think freon of any type, (R134A charge is around $75-$150 pending amount and the newest R1234yf is $150-$200 + charge again depending on amount) should be free...🤣😂😅 Let them roast. My vehicles including my 1995 Taurus wagon a/c is ice cold🥶 ..... Works 4 me! A/C systems are similar in a lot of ways. Oil, pressures etc change pending on systems and of course ambient temperatures. Knowledge is everything. A lot of consumers just don't get it. Great content as always Tim. Old School Forever 👍👍👍 ✌️🇺🇸
I got a 66 KW conventional, talk about simple, this thing sat for over 13 years all I had to do was wheel her over with the compression release out until the oil pressure was showing around 20 on the gauge let in slow and she fired right to life.
The last company I drove for had very talented mechanics. When the owners brand new, one driver Peterbilt had constant problems, the plan was to buy some 1970s or 80s tractors from the no rust South, strip to the bare frame rails, and sandblast those, and build a new tractor from the ground up. Don't check brake chambers or wiring, replace with new. All new everything but the block pre emissions Cummins and Cat engines. Unfortunately the company didn't survive to complete this plan.
I'm not hating but being the first load and new account, I would have thought you would have used a nicer looking truck and had the trailer fixed up (doors replaced on front) and washed but what do I know, just saying.........................
You're on to something good! My first truck, was a '72 Titan 90, with a 318 Detroit. I paid $500 bucks for it. 64 MPH@2400, but it would move anything you hooked to. Hauled a LOT of sod with it!
And your Bro was right about riding Shotgun.... Scary as Heck, I always kept my feet on the dash in fear of being thrown thru the windshield! And Bob Tailing was worse 🤣
Being a forklift operator, the thing I don’t like about roll up doors is the trailer height pallets…. They don’t fit in the roll up doors…. You have to break down the pallets, and re-stack them in the trailer.
Great video! Love that old cab over. On the refrigeration should use a service valve wrench to preserve the valve stem and do not over-tighten in front or back seat position. Over tightening will damage valve seats or packing gland. Refrigerant level should be checked will all zones enabled and at setpoint. The liquid receiver will have higher level when all zones are not enabled or below setpoint.
Another thing, refrigeration units are critical charge and should be weighed in to not over or under charge. Lastly 404a is a blended refrigerant and should be charged in liquid state to prevent fractionalization.
If you are hauling refers let me know. My mom owns and broker company and she always supports trucker. She used to own trucker when I was little. So if you help her she will help you. She does loads out of the midwest, mostly Wisconsin and goes east coast mainly. She does potatoes and chicken mostly.
When your Detroit Diesel is low on pressure like that on the oil check your oil bypass to make sure that it's not stuck because if it's stuck it'll make you have low oil pressure!!
did he checked the bearing clearance ? could be the crank is ground undersize and that could cause the oilpressure being low too (should have better pressure cold)
Temp is still warm in the box so it's hard to say but what is your suction temp? Head Pressure is so high I'm guessing your Condenser coil is plugged (as in filthy) and could be low on charge also what's the liquid line temp? pressures by them selves mean nothing othen more than saying little line is hot and big line is cold that's why they make Thermometers.
Couple of questions for you is it the fact that the cab over is very easy to turn witurn wit or is the cool factor or the real or the reaction of the other truckers when you come by what is a cool factor of these little trucks and you're Opinion just asking
Hi whatcha up to hope all is well prayers 4 healing and unspoken also prayers 4 everyone and bless great healthy peaceful safe journeys travels and happy hauling in the name of the Creator God and Jesus and the Holy Ghost Amen much honor and respect keep walking tall cool cool trucks and yes keep them rolling that's the only thing saving us all is trucking own ops and thank yall much 4 ur duty yall all every truck driver thank yall much 4 ur duty if not 4 truck drivers we wouldn't have a supply chain yall keep walking tall many blessings keep on keeping on 🚌🌅🌌🌄⛺🏞🏖 👍👍💪🙂👍👍
All the videos we have coming up will be bringing out all the haters! We are going completely old school. There is no better time than now when the trucking industry is struggling!!
Love it Tim
No hate from me lol. I love the old trucks
SUP DRIV,AH? I WAS THINKING ALL US SUBSCRIBER'S NEED TO DO SOMETHING FOR YOUR POP'S HE'S ALWAYS WORKING SO HARD AND DEFINITELY NEEDS TO KNOW HOW APPRECIATED HE TRULY IS ? WHAT YOU SAY BUDDY?
Love old school Tim that's where it's at
Hater’s can hate. Old school rules let’s get back to how trucking used to be a brotherhood
Nice to see that GMC Astro put to work after years of being out of service. Some trucks may be old, but legends never die.
SAME!!!!
The Astro is bringing back memories from when I rode with my grand dad.
The GMC has a very healthy engine very nice to hear it run.
I grew a trucking company back in the 90s by diversifying.. I ran everything from 1tons with goosenecks to oversize.. kept busy year round
When I was a kid my friends would be at the fair riding the rides, I was out back looking at all the gmc cabover carny trucks ☺️
These trucks kept America alive - I started driving ‘em back in the 80’s. They make cool parade toys, but I’ve gotten used to the newer ones. I just don’t think I could give up the comfort & convenience for a 40 year-old back breaker.
When it's all u have, then it's seem like a one-way ticket to get the heck outta Dodge!!!!
I drove an Astro 95 new in 1974 it had bus mirrors on it. I loved that truck.
Worked at a GMC Dealership back when I was a kid (late 60's 70's. Changed many a cab on the Astros. Knew them inside out. Also worked on Thermo-Kings. Number one problem was the evaporator beeing blocked with paper or plastic cutting down airflow. Easy fix
It makes going to work a lot easier when you enjoy the people you work with
Looks like that old gmc has power steering
Preach brother!!!
In '73 I hauled steel all up and down the east coast with one of those, loved that truck.
I would love to see that truck restored with the same paint scheme... I love it!!!
Positive attitudes are the best way to be . Enjoy your channel Tim . Always waiting for the next one .

I love the sound of any diesel 2 or 4 cycle big or small. Btw it’s cummins not cummings
I have nothing against roll-up doors, but I have to tell all of my drivers to watch out when they're open and closing them. You can't just slam them around, that's what messes them up Everytime!!! Great video thanks for sharing.

Love the sound of those old trucks!
GMC Astro. The first big truck I ever drove. I don't know what others problem is , if I was a young man I'd drive for you.
Tim I have a 98 peterbilt 379 and recently only one of the metals copper pieces that your dad was switching out broke and ended up in the oil pan it broke a small chunk off 1/4 width maybe a inch long . Y'all remind me of when I first got into trucking 45 yrs ago, family, have some laugh, keep up the good work Sir,,,
This video brought back memories and pains up my back.

My first try at OO, was with an ASTRO 95. 6V92 TA, with an Allison Auto. Never had an once of trouble, it was a great time !
Tim shout out to the cameraman. Last couple videos stepped his game up he’s getting there. You can tell he’s taking pride in what he’s doing. I don’t get seasickness like the first couple videos when he was new lol. Keep it up!!
Tim don't worry about all of those haters I for one liked the old school trucks no dpf no def .trucker Dennis
Man! I get home from church and get blessed with a Gentry video?! I’ll be dipped!!
That's a nice setup I'd run it all day
Hi Tim that Steering Wheel worries me a bit what’s holding it together mate it’s got more cracks then my shed door I’m glad you are happy man Brax is a spiting image of his Mum any ways it’s 3 30 in the morning here best wishes to your Family Cheers mate 👍👍👍💪💪💪😎❤️🦘🦘🦘🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🍺
There’s a metal ring on the inside. The plastic is just a coating.
@George Jones Well in Australia that would be defected my mate and I got 40 years on Semis on Australian Roads and thanx for putting chit on me I would never drive a Truck in that cond you Yanks are know all anyways Truck you
Nice to see that fishbowl GMC back on the road doing what it's supposed to do. If

Hey Tim I love the videos! You should get some little microphones that go on your shirt for the times where you have your filmer working, I find it difficult to hear you guys at times when your not actually holding the phone! Keep on truckin !!
love that gmc cab over brother keep up the great work. Love what you do with the trucks and running a company. 👍👍👍👍
I just love cabover. First truck I learned to drive.
Man it be pretty cool to drive some old school stuff, love the videos and positive energy keep up to good work G&S team
Just finishing Bruce’s latest video and now this!
I noticed you like the old school and I do too that's the way we learned and there was nothing wrong with it
Thinking about Tim and the Gentry family! Can’t wait to hear an update and Tim is home!!
Man you sure got a thing for steering knobs. I like them on my lawn tractor but never on any truck that I drove in my 40 yrs. Of trucking
Dave
I know an old Wal-Mart reefer when I see one! Haul them every single day. We are up to 317 series trailers now. Oldest ones we have are a 305.
Tim when he sees any diesel truck: This thing would be good for haulin taters 😂
O-H-I-O Porter greetings!🇺🇸 Working on this trailer was quite informative. I own a reefer but have never pulled it or any ever before. that's good u r runnin a gmc astro very rare to see them runnin
Awful lot of hate in the comments. Keep doing you Tim. You and Ashley seem like great parents.
I got a 66 KW conventional, talk about simple, this thing sat for over 13 years all I had to do was wheel her over with the compression release out until the oil pressure was showing around 20 on the gauge let in slow and she fired right to life.
if I had the money would love to get a old GMC Astro Aero to do some hauling with.
Going back to old school trucking
🇺🇸DAD DOESN’T CARE HOW HARD THE JOB IS HE IS ALWAYS HARD @ WORK.🇺🇸
I was just at dinner bell Saturday also the truck stops up at lovell rd are usually a lot cheaper then any where else close by love the videos
1st truck I learned how to drive a big rig in.
I used to have a Chevy titan 90 318 Detroit 10 speed coast to coast hauling nuclear waste in the 80’s
the trucking industry back in the day drivers and mechanics use to have thick skin some still do and stayed that way
I ran OTR for 2years in a cab over when I got my CDL I still hate them would never want another one!
The last company I drove for had very talented mechanics. Dude every truck you drive you have bright lights on! Really shows what type driver you really are .but I'm not surprised at the condition of them..
I love the GMC ASTRO ....
You're on to something good! My first truck, was a '72 Titan 90, with a 318 Detroit. I paid $500 bucks for it.
64 MPH@2400, but it would move anything you hooked to. Hauled a LOT of sod with it!
How in God's name did you buy a whole semi for 500? And where can I buy a 500$ semi?
@@benjaminturpin2749 I bought that truck in 1997. $500 trucks were actually pretty common then.
KEEP them old rigs on the road, and get them electronic toys off em! American trucking's all about Detroit Cummings and big Cats 😊
And your Bro was right about riding Shotgun.... Scary as Heck, I always kept my feet on the dash in fear of being thrown thru the windshield! And Bob Tailing was worse 🤣
That GMC sounds awesome.
Being a forklift operator, the thing I don’t like about roll up doors is the trailer height pallets…. They don’t fit in the roll up doors…. You have to break down the pallets, and re-stack them in the trailer.
They are very good men to work for
Love the sound of that gmc
Great video! Love that old cab over. On the refrigeration should use a service valve wrench to preserve the valve stem and do not over-tighten in front or back seat position. The answer is to also cook truck. Get that truck work and drop new engine as in else. Cleaned it up, get it working
When your Detroit Diesel is low on pressure like that on the oil check your oil bypass to make sure that it's not stuck because if it's stuck it'll make you have low oil pressure!!
That old crackerbox is still doing what it was meant to do 46 years ago just take care of the truck and it will take care of you tim
Not a cracker box that was the previous generation . GMC F model.
I love that old truck!!
Old Pottsville PA Walmart trailer
did he checked the bearing clearance ? could be the crank is ground undersize and that could cause the oilpressure being low too (should have better pressure cold)
Most bearings have the ground under size stamped on the back of the shell too
I had 1thousands with plastigauge
Temp is still warm in the box so it's hard to say but what is your suction temp? Head Pressure is so high I'm guessing your Condenser coil is plugged (as in filthy) and could be low on charge also what's the liquid line temp? pressures by them selves mean nothing othen more than saying little line is hot and big line is cold that's why they make Thermometers.
Jakes barking sounds good
Couple of questions for you is it the fact that the cab over is very easy to turn witurn wit or is the cool factor or the real or the reaction of the other truckers when you come by what is a cool factor of these little trucks and you're Opinion just asking
First truck I drove was a 76 GMC Astro.
Seeing you in that COE, Tim, makes me think you oughta head up to Wisconsin with that truck and visit Orwell. Lol
Speaking of Orwell, she and her driver are in Missouri, delivering to a federal pen, of all places...
Gentry trucking putting out great content
I like the GMC cabovers.
Had low oil pressure issue like that on a Cummins, it was a "crankcase" filter.
Rts bus had same steering wheel as kids we use to sneak on mcts parking garage with front doorleft open
Dang need some new STEER TIRES on that rig BIGLY
Heck yea!!!
And my son and me are taking our 34 off at that flying j right now
Very beautiful GMC semi truck wow 💦👌
I love cabovers. My favorite is the Peterbilt 1979 352H double bunk. Where are you located? Are you hiring?
I love cab overs
We Need more Jake brake action
Learned on a ford cl9000 and gmc Astro
Wow, you guys are literally almost in the same city as me? Well this is interesting.
You're probably going to be doing what I'm doing just out of okla and texass
Awesome video!
tim you ever think about doing tik tok and expanding your brand to make it bigger and better
HELL YEAH THAT'S A MACK 😄😉
Great video Tim
