I recently spent most of a week in Odense while traveling for work and I immediately fell in love with the place. Even in the cold and wet of the late autumn, the city was charming and full of great places to shop and warm up with some food. I cannot wait to return. So happy that you were all able to experience Odense as well, and thank you for highlighting it!
When I was in Denmark, Copenhagen for training in January 2023, I took time to visit the beautiful city of Odense, with the main attraction being a visit to the HC Andersen Museum because I am an author myself. Because it was my first time in Europe, I started by briefly exploring Germany, by taking a train from Copenhagen on Friday, sleeping over in Flensburg and proceeding to Hamburg the following day (Saturday) and later traveling to Odense where I slept over and briefly explored the city after visiting the HC Andersen Museum. It was the most amazing experience, it's a pity I was alone but I have promised my family to take them there (but at least I captured a lot of memories on camera and i treasure them. I found the train travel very enjoyable and efficient all the way. I am from South Africa. I am taking a lot lessons for the museum I want to establish in my hometown which is famous as a based of the Zulu nation which was the first tribe to defeat the mighty British army using mainly traditional weapons. (My next Europe trip was to Spain, Madrid and got a chance to visit Zaragoza)
And that's where I live. We are so happy to see tourists in our small country and especially in Odense where I live. Thank you for the wonderful video and thank you for the positive publicity.
Well this was precious, what a wonderful time you had there. Big up to Ole and Mette and friends for representing Denmark this way. Funny you got that fruit salad, it’s something usually served in kinder gardens and after school clubs. It’s nicknamed “monkey food” cuz its like the cut up fruit served flit apes in the zoo. I think it’s like childhood comfort food for many people. Also kudos for the pronunciation of æbleskiver and rød grød med fløde, really impressive, those vowel sounds are not easy. Looking forward to seeing what you get up to in Copenhagen
Hi Guys. Thanks for visiting our small country. It's cool that you got to see Odense - i would guess that most of tourist never get out of Copenhagen. Both you and your host seems to be lovely people. I hope you come back. Preferably in the summer. Denmark is beautyfull in that couple of months. I would be hard pressed to find a place where i would rather be!
What a nice experience, thank you for sharing it all! You seem like the friendliest people ever, so I'm not surprised that you receive this kind of amazing hospitality.
Nice to see your video. Not many tourist think there is something outside of Copenhagen. Actually you could spend a long time on Fyn - many sites to see. Regards from Fyn
I live there but it’s really interesting to see it from a tourists point of view! So many things we take for granted when they really are special and unique. Thank you for the insights! And thank you for visiting!
Over 180.000 live within the city walls, so not exactly a village. But many cities in Denmark look tiny, if you only see a limited view, because all old buildings are preserved, and high rise buildings are the odd thing here.
Thank you for visiting Odense 👍 I don’t live in Odense anymore but it will always feel like home to me ❤️ I saw my last home in Odense in your video when you was filmen at the Sortebrødre Plads which is very close to the birthplace of HCA. I love that area 😊 Copenhagen is a big city but Denmark is much more than Copenhagen. Your video reminded me of good memories. I was a security guard at the Great Belt construction project. I have been almost everywhere inside outside an on the top of the bridge. The view is amazing 😊
I really enjoyed your enthusiasm and positive view of my home city. We travel to the US approximately once a year so interesting to see how Americans view Odense 😊
What a nice way to visit another country with friends as local tour guides. As a Dane, I would have enjoyed the stay at Mette and Ole's place as well 😊. And Odense is a really nice city. Stayed there for a couple of days when the new Hans Christian Andersen Museum had just opened.
You're certainly in for a treat! Driving is easy, parking we can't say for sure. We were blessed to be granted a parking spot when we stayed with our friends.
Taking a train to get to Odense should be just fine, and we certainly didn't need a car while we were there. Just be sure to lodge near the city center and everything you want to do will be in very close proximity.
This might not sound like a positive comment, but bear with me. I've lived in Odense for 2 years now, and I really do hate this city with a burning passion. I'm trying my hardest to change that, and this video helped a tiny bit, so thank you for that.
Æbleskiver is plural, it's "one æbleskive", "many æbleskiver". So the Solvang restaurant menu has it wrong. It has the name in plural twice; both Danish and English. The most correct way in English, would be "æbleskives".
would have lived in odense my whole life. but they tried to take my child over bogus reasons. bear in mind ,denmark is amazing as long as you dont have children, then the komune is as damokles sworld over your head until they are 18.
Great video! Rarely do I see tourists get such an authentic taste of Denmark. It is special.
Thank you! We were treated wonderfully by our hosts and well received by your countrymen as well!
Beautiful Odense. Your host was amazing. And your daughter is adorable.

I live in Odense, and wow it’s so weird getting to see my city through a foreigners perspective. Very cool though! I hope you enjoyed the city☺️
Yes, we truly did!
Beautiful! Copenhagen is now on my bucket list!

For a non-native speaker, your pronunciations are very good that i have to say. Good video keep it up !
I really enjoyed your enthusiasm and positive view of my home city. We travel to the US approximately once a year so interesting to see how Americans view Odense 😊
Thank you for your positive words! We truly enjoyed your native city!

You’re welcome.😊
I'm really hopeful that this video may change the rumor that Danes are unfriendly
wow nice place
Born and raised in Odense.
I've seen those footprints everyday for years, without knowing their purpose :D That's a litte embarrassing :D
Odense. I am on my way.
Even if I have to row back.

Depois de ver seu vídeo vamos incluir Odense em nosso roteiro! Tks
The Danish snaps is brewed on boxing gloves and condoms -
you'll go crazy one way or an other 🤣🤣
What a wonderful video. I’m planning my trip to Denmark and will definitely visit Odense. How difficult is driving and parking in Denmark?
You're certainly in for a treat! Driving is easy, parking we can't say for sure. We were blessed to be granted a parking spot when we stayed with our friends.
@@abroadwiththeburrells thank you so much for the advice
Do tarteletters taste like chicken pot pies?
Lol, I wasn't sure if I made that clear enough ;P
Should we rent a car to get to/around Odense, or should we take the train?
Taking a train to get to Odense should be just fine, and we certainly didn't need a car while we were there. Just be sure to lodge near the city center and everything you want to do will be in very close proximity.
I loved Odensa more.

Made me hungry
