I tried this recipe yesterday and it was awesome. The cake was soft and the frosting was perfect. I just omitted the coco powder in the frosting and replaced butter with refined oil and skipped brandy. The best coffee cake ever. Thanks for the recipe. I highly recommend this recipe.

I have just spent 2 hours looking for this recipe. It’s been my fave for YEARS, nothing else compares. Only issue i have is it cooks quickly around the side and takes alot longer to cook in the middle but i think thats because of my oven !!

You can’t substitute butter with whipped cream for cake. You can only substitute whipped cream for your frosting. To make the cake you have to use butter or oil, can’t use whipped cream.

I cant wait to try this! Every coffee cake recipe ive made was kind of dry. They were meant to be soaked by the coffee, but I cant tell how far it gets soaked and I dont want it to be soggy either. Even soaked they sort of had a dry texture. Yours looks moist and delicious I cant wait!
I love coffee cake, growing up in Britain it was always a favourite. In the US coffee cake is a sticky bun that is not palatable. This recipe apart from the cocoa in icing looks perfect. I am definitely going to make it. 👍👍👍😘🙋🏻♀️

Make sure you're using the correct sugar, granulated for the cake and icing/confectioners/powdered for the frosting. Also, make sure you're adding the right amount of coffee as that also decreases the sweetness a bit

You can skip brandy. It’s optional
it’s better to add sugar syrup before frosting.
