None! My breasts have always been asymetrical (left is bigger than my right) and my areaolas have always been bumpy. Been that way since I've had boobs lol.
🎓 I noticed breast milk or clear liquid come out of my breast whenever I squeeze around the aerola. I've gone for screening and some test I was told my prolactin levels are high.
My Dr decided to yell at me for wasting her time when I had felt a lump in my breast. And told me mine are just dense and to get over it. Definitely got a new Dr after that
@@KathrynSoto-g8l Good that you switched!! Doctors should never say something like that!! Ridiculous.. So sorry that happened to you. I hope you got a better doc now that DOES take you serious! And hoping everything is fine health wise too!
Sounds like your doctor was too busy to properly care for her patients. Which means that switching was an excellent thing to do. It got you a doctor who had time for you, I hope, and it freed up her calendar a bit.
I’m a teenager. I realized I had a breast lump when I was around 14 years old. I told my mother about it, and she said it would go away and dismissed it. So, I stopped talking about it. It continued growing and reached 3 cm until something was done about it this year, a month after I turned 16. It was a tumor, and I had it removed. It was a very stressful day for me because I had never been to the hospital for something like this. Luckily, while I was on the operating table and slowly losing consciousness, the doctor behind me was gently caressing my hair, something I will never forget. After the operation, I stupidly left the bandage on the scar for an entire night, and when it was time to remove it... I couldn’t; it was stuck. I got help from a doctor and saw my scar for the first time. Man, that was not fun to see. I had always thought that having a scar would be cool, but when I saw it, I felt my heart stop and my face turn white. I was trying to stay positive like I always do, but it was too much. The scar looks way better now, and I don't feel weird about it anymore (for now). So yes, never ignore those signs.
Why do the same things happen to all of us? I'm my mom's first daughter, and when I told her I had a lump in one of my breasts at maybe 11 or 12, she accused me of fooling around with boys and we never spoke of it. The same lump starts growing in my little sister's breast literally nine years later, and my mom calls me home from college in a panic, only for me to tell her that i had the same thing. By that time, it was the size of the average tomato and was physically weighing down the breast. Long story short, family doctor educated my mom and booked our surgeries for the same evening. One year later, we still have monthly checkups and my scar is miles uglier than my sister's. Check your boobs, people
Yeah, I can relate. I had a small lump in my breast since I was 12 and was always pestering my mom about it. She's a nurse and reassured me everything is fine and did nothing until I was 16, when it grew significantly. She was still assuring me that it's okay, but I convinced her to go to the doctor with me. It was a tumor, thankfully not cancerous, but I would've rather not waited until it was big, y'know. It's been 4 years now and scar is still very much visible, although it doesn't bother me. Stay safe everyone

Been doing research about breast cancer for some time now and this is the best video I've seen so far. It's very detailed and considerate. It answered every question I have. Thank you!
mum had a bump above her breast, which she didn't think of as being cancer. She only looked for a medical service because it was painful to the touch. Turned out it was an extremely agressive form of breast cancer. Went from stage 1 to 3 in two months. She had no idea that breast cancer could form right below the collar bone, amd neither did I. (She's fine now, the doctors took excellent care of her even if she still have some side effects from the cancer cell treatment. Like fatigue and immune system being a bit lowered). Edit: It also grew at an alarming rate too, went from a pea to a huge meatball. Very informational video!
Thank you for sharing such a personal story with us. I’m glad your mum is fine now. My hope is that this video will go some way to help inform everyone of the lesser known signs not to ignore on the breast and to seek help early. Wishing your mum the best. ❤
This was a helpful video. Ever since losing my aunt to breast cancer, the women in my family have been more diligent about checking for abnormalities. 👩🏾🎓
My mother got a lump on her breast got it checked within 2 months and it came out to be fibrocystic disease of the breast by a FNAC And I was also assured as a medical student and went on Primrose medication . Then after 6 months she felt that the swelling was enlarged and went for a biopsy came out to be triple negative breast cancer . Current she is undergoing chemotherapy and surgery’s is in a few months I hope all goes well and she recovers . Plus along the with it she also found out she has thyroid cancer . I hope mom is well soon .
Was lactating starting back in January this year from both breasts and got a bunch of tests done since I am nowhere near pregnant and nothing showed up. This video coming up on my recommends has encouraged me to go back into the doctor’s office to double check.😅

My mom found a lump in her breast one day and she wasn’t sure so she made me feel it. Never felt anything like it so we made an appt with her doctor. She was diagnosed with breast cancer at the start of pandemic. Hardest 6 months we went through but she’s now doing well. I’m now more susceptible to get it so I get checked out every day. Worst day of my life really coz I cry after my mammogram as I remember the pain my mom went through with her treatments and I don’t think I am strong like her to go through should I get it. Every woman should get tested. Could save your life

I’m anxious, please anyone who sees this pray for my mom 🙏 I’m so glad ur mom is doing great. Blessings
This is, hands down, the best information I have been given about monitoring my breast health in all of the decades that this has been relevant for me - and I'm the sort of person who picks up self-examination leaflets at the Gyn. Thank you!
Love this...factual, direct, clear. Fantastic images that show real breasts shapes, colors, and sizes. Not a single off-topic bit of blather or unrelated talking. So very helpful!
Thanks for this 🥰 Kind of sad that you had to censor the breast model even in an important educational video but this was still very well presented and I'm glad to know this information.
This is a great video I really appreciate you saying it's something to get checked out instead of saying this could be because of this or that which makes it a lot scarier because you start panicking about cancer.
I was 17 when I first found a lump on my breast. Immediately freaked out and went to the doctor. They did some tests and it was a “normal” lump. A year later, I was checking my breasts again, and the lump was huge and was scared because it grew too fast in a year. Then I remembered the first lump was on my other breast. Both times the doctor couldn’t really feel them on the exam, but confirmed them with ultrasound, so always trust yourself. The second one was so big I had to get it removed. It was benign, but because it grew so fast, it was best to get it out. I’ll be 30 this year and I still have to check on my lumps every year, sometimes twice a year. I currently have 6 on the left and 3 on the right. I’m always on edge during the ultrasound, because two of my aunts had breast cancer, from both sides of the family. I actually want to remove my breasts preemptively because I’m so scared about the possibility of having cancer one day.
@@aiyedogbontreasure2863 then it’s not really a lump, it must be your mammary glands. They can swell monthly. But it’s best to go get an ultrasound just in case. Lumps are harder on the touch.

I have learned something new 😊 What about if you experience a sharp pain almost like a knife cutting through your breast? I have been experiencing this for sometime now and I’ve gone to see the doctor about it but they say it’s nothing to worry about
I'm nearly 50, child-free, and my nipples inverted in the last year. I read that it was likely my milk ducts shrinking as I've never breast fed. But now I'll look into it further. 👩🏽🎓
As she mentioned in the video, it’s hard to tell if you’re feeling a lump or if that’s just how your breast is. How can I tell for sure if what I’m feeling is a lump? There’s an area I’ve been keeping an eye on at the top of one of mine that I can’t really tell if it’s a lump or if it’s just a part of the inside of my breast.
@@hannahdavid27 Hey, from my own experience, the lump will feel firmer than the tissue around it. So if you kind of poke around, you'll definitely feel a difference. If it causes you pain or discomfort you should have it checked out.

I had my left breast increased in size, I felt hot lumpy and often and pain, I got scared and didn't want to get checked, after a night I woke up in pain I decided to call my doctor in the morning, I got seen and the doctor discovered a lump and referred me to the breast clinic, it turned out It esd a cyst caused by a hormonal imbalance, stress and dehydration. We should always check our breasts.
Been there, done that. No problem since.
Was the cyst movable pls
Hm I also have small small lumps in my breast both the left and right thought is natural for everyone to have that after reading a lot of comments I'm scared to check it out
@@janpower1104 was the cyst removable am scared to check its growing
It is scary though, sometimes I think it is better not to know
this saved me so much stress thank you 😭 i have horrible health anxiety and i want to be aware of potential issues but i also give myself panic attacks when i feel my ribs under my breasts. i also appreciate how you presented the information as things to be aware of/look out for but not an immediate sign of doom
Thank you! I really pleased you found the video helpful! 😊
Me too! Any little thing and i freak myself out. So this video is very good :) i also agree on the sign to look out for and not “sign youre going to die” like some youtubers do clickbait
Same!! I was just reading the comments and I freaked out sm I could feel myself getting anxious all over my body. My anxiety levels go so high that I often faint out of fear, I'm trying to overcome it but it's hard 😭, I'm happy im not alone in this tho!
Your presentation and delivery was ideal for the masses. We can see and understand everything in the video. Thank you, Dr. Adedeji.
Are those your illustrations also?!?
Thank you for such a lovely comment! ❤
@@charitasalcedo6483 Yes - that GCSE in Art came in handy!
I love that you show all kinds of shapes, sizes and colors in your examples, as most examples out there tend to look only a certain way - which isn't how I look. But I could see myself in your examples for the first time, and thus felt so comforted. Thank you!
Been doing research about breast cancer for some time now and this is the best video I've seen so far. It's very detailed and considerate. It answered every question I have. Thank you!
Thank you for such a lovely comment. I’m really pleased that you found this video valuable.
mum had a bump above her breast, which she didn't think of as being cancer.
What cancell treatment did she endure?
@@sarathomas8499 chemotherapy! She still has some sideeffects from it unfortunately D:
Thanks!
This was a helpful video. Ever since losing my aunt to breast cancer, the women in my family have been more diligent about checking for abnormalities. 👩🏾🎓
My mother got a lump on her breast got it checked within 2 months and it came out to be fibrocystic disease of the breast by a FNAC
And I was also assured as a medical student and went on Primrose medication .
I’m so sorry! Praying for your mom
Your mom will be fine soon. She'll be all hale and healthy in a few months. Sending prayers amd love to both of you! 💕✨

👩🎓. I had not heard about tethering. Also, the redness was interesting to hear about too. Thank you for this.
Not many people know about tethering. So pleased that you learnt something new and you’re welcome! 😊
Who else stayed just to listen to her beautiful voice and accent?
I just love her voice. I want her to read audio books!
Was lactating starting back in January this year from both breasts and got a bunch of tests done since I am nowhere near pregnant and nothing showed up. This video coming up on my recommends has encouraged me to go back into the doctor’s office to double check.😅
@@whyistherumalwaysfinished27 I am experiencing the exact same thing
did you get any answer?
I never knew this about my breasts, and I’m 37! Thanks for bringing awareness to women’s health. This is the kind of thing they never teach you in schools. I’ll be sure to pass this on to all my gal pals just to stay safe!
You’re welcome! I’m really pleased that you learnt something new about your body- it’s never too late and there is so much to learn about ourselves and how our bodies work. I believe this makes it easier for us to advocate for ourselves and also for us to challenge the shame and stigma that often surrounds women’s health! Thank you for sharing too!
👩🏾🎓 it’s good to see you back making videos 💜 I learnt the different names for breast parts today
Thank you 😊 although I’ve not been away, just been making more short form videos than long form but I’ll try to be more consistent with long form videos again. Really pleased that you learnt something new. ❤️
Ma'm, thank you.
They don't show this much in health class. Your content is fantastic, informative amd to the point 🙏💯
Thank you! 😊
Thank you Dr.Simi!I had a breast lump both right and left gosh I'm so scared felt relieved after breast sonogram and mammogram the dr.said no need to worry coz it's fluid need to aspirate.
You’re welcome. Thank you for sharing your experience and glad to hear that everything was OK.
I was feeling so anxious and scared because I’m recovering from health anxiety. And you explained everything with such a calmness.
Thank you so much for this information! We definitely need more education about things to look out for. I appreciate you! 😊
I’m glad you found it informative! Thank you for watching! ❤️
Could save your life
@@vancitygurl ❤️ Thank you for sharing that. I’m so glad your mom made it through. I pray you’ll never have to suffer like that.
Hello, I would like to know how ur moms breast lump felt like because I’m suffering now since she got an ultrasound and they said that the lump looked suspicious and how she has her biopsy next Thursday the 19th.
Thank you!
👏👏I hope this video will become part of school curriculums! Far too many women need this information!
Love this...factual, direct, clear. Fantastic images that show real breasts shapes, colors, and sizes. Not a single off-topic bit of blather or unrelated talking. So very helpful!
Thank you! 😊Really pleased that you enjoyed the video and found it helpful!
We've missed you! Love having you back Dr Simi.💖
Thank you! 😊 🤭 - although I have been around, but mostly making short form videos for the last year. I’m back to making long form videos again. ❤️
👩🎓 always learning new things. Today I learn more about how to monitor my own breasts
So glad you learnt something new! Be sure to share the knowledge too! ❤
👩🎓thank you Dr. The parts of the breast and the inverted nipple sign, two great things I've learned today
You’re welcome! I’m so pleased that you feel more informed after watching this video.
Amazing content. Thank you. And may I say that your skin looks so healthy and beautiful
What if the lump comes and goes
Thank you
@@aiyedogbontreasure2863 then it’s not really a lump, it must be your mammary glands. They can swell monthly. But it’s best to go get an ultrasound just in case. Lumps are harder on the touch.
THANK YOU, I’ll save this video and send it to all my female friends too! Much appreciated

Thank you so much Dr. Adedeji👩🏽🎓, I wasn’t aware of how much our cycle affects the way these visual symptoms can appear. Thank you again for raising awareness on Breast Health!
This video was so good and informative. I learned that the dots are sweat glands. Google told me that it was acne, but I am so relieved after watching the video. Thank you so much 😊

What about if you experience a sharp pain almost like a knife cutting through your breast? I have been experiencing this for sometime now and I’ve gone to see the doctor about it but they say it’s nothing to worry about
I’m no professional, but I used to get a sharp pain too. It was because my bra cup size was way too small
I get that during PMS and ovulation :( It's always been my norm unfortunately.
That sounds like fibrocystic breast condition, which is painful but not usually dangerous.
@@becks5867 oh my bras are not tight tho

I'm nearly 50, child-free, and my nipples inverted in the last year. I read that it was likely my milk ducts shrinking as I've never breast fed. But now I'll look into it further. 👩🏽🎓
thank you for showing how things can look like on dark skin !! it's so important
🎓 I learned not all lumps are bad. ❤
👩🏼🎓Had no clue dimpling like that was a sign before. Thanks for the informational video and the inclusive breast drawings!
