      @devinpinnon4209 That's what I want to hear! My wife is from Granite her family still all live there. I have always wanted to hunt over there but her grandpa who hunted passed away a few years back right before I started looking so I been sticking to Missouri...from what I understand our creek access laws are different...I almost walked up by Alton one time and out by Hull I did hop in one for a min

    Are there any certain websites or books that you would recommend to learn more about arrowheads? We moved to the ozarks a year ago and have recently started looking in our creek for arrowheads. I want to learn more about them. Great videos, thanks!

      @@pointsnpoles4640 We found two small points in the gravel in our driveway. I’ve been trying to figure out where to start on our acreage. It’s all woods. We have some elevated flat spots above our creek that could be good and then the creek itself. I will check out the book and let you know if anything looks promising. We split our time between that property and our house in town. I can’t wait to get back there. Thanks for the reply.

    I am a fisherman and a hunter, AND a herper so I know better than to ask for "a spot".
    however... I live in SWMO but im from OK, Any chance one of you all could point me in a VERY general direction as a place to start? I am scouring google earth, but that's a FAR cry from someone with real experience in the area.

    • @pointsnpoles4640
      @pointsnpoles4640  Рік тому +1

      What county in SWMO? We are up in Northeast Missouri. Any of the creeks that have rock content generally work...especially creeks that flow into rivers or larger creeks...honestly google earth is how I've came to find quite a few of my spots. Then just making the drive to them (usually low water crossings) to see if the rock has a decent amount of chert or worked pieces then go about trying to get permission.
      IF possible or at very minimal ask the locals if it's a problem to walk the creek if it runs through a bunch of people's property. Sometimes that is an impossible task when you are in the middle of nowhere..and in that case as long as it's a navigable creek with a low water crossing or a public easement by law you are free to travel the creeks up to the high water mark without it being considered an illegal trespass but however the landowners do technically own the land and the rock under the water and the rockbars so they could technically raise an issue with you removing artifacts from thier property. I've only had a few instances of running into a landowner while deep down a creek and I've only had two be ignorant enough for me to have them call the law out so they could get educated on Missouri creek access laws...most however don't raise an issue once we talk about what it is I'm doing in the creek and how crackheads seem to have ruined people's tolerance of recreating in the creeks....I get it though, with today's society I would want to know WTF you are doing in a creek in the middle of the country going right through my land. There is a Supreme Court decision in Missouri I think it's Elder vs Delcour or something like that...it's worth the read.

      @@pointsnpoles4640 I really appreciate the advice, we’re down here in Newton county. I’ll have to do some reading into that case, I’ve heard a bunch of conflicting things from people. Especially because I’m registered Cherokee so it ends up confusing me more on the laws because I’ve heard that comes with different laws aswell but I don’t know how true any of all that is. But I’ve so far found one creek with a ton of good flint and flakes found. I just don’t exactly know the legality, there’s no no trespassing signs at the crossing and there’s no houses within the mile section so I just decided to have that talk if someone rolled up and no one ever did. I also made a neat sifter the other day out of a tomato cage and quarter inch mesh but yet to have find a place I have direct permission to do that. And that’s bout as bad as crackheads, getting caught diggin someone’s creek. Lol and I’m gonna be up in Fenton Missouri up by St. Louis for work for a few days this week so I’m gonna try to find a creek or two while I’m up there; fingers crossed!!

    • @pointsnpoles4640
      @pointsnpoles4640  Рік тому +2

      @kingnoble2370 Well that IS my neck of the woods...im only 45 mins from Fenton, there are definitely some good spots near there or not too far from there. Im prolly gonna hit a creek near there on Friday early afternoon as a matter of fact. The registered bloodline doesn't have any legality in Missouri as far as creek walking, I do know that you do have the right to possess things like eagle feathers and other things but that's as much as I know. So as far as the legality goes if you can enter a creek or a river from a public easement, low water crossing, or private land which you have permission to enter from you can freely travel the waterways as long as it is "navigable" which is from what I was told and interpreted from the Supreme Court decision was a stream that you could float a log down during normal water levels....they determined that based on commerce back in the day when people would float logs down a creek or river to sell them to mills and others etc. But typically yea, it's way easier to ask for forgiveness than permission in some cases. To be criminaly trespassed in Missouri you First have to be given a Warning...then if you return they can arrest you.. but the landowners also have a responsibility to clearly mark thier land with no trespassing signs and or purple paint at a height of at least 8 ft to have a case against someone for illeagal trespassing. The only issue Is parking, sometimes on certain roads there is no marked shoulder and typically the first 6 ft off of the road is public...but some people have thier property line up to the road...a good way to tell if it's public right of way is if the state or county maintains the grass and trees for those 6-10 ft. I'll go up the road to a legal parking area and walk down if I can't tell if it's private or not....I recommend downloading ONX HUNT and pay the 30$ a year to see landowners property lines and names and address

      @@pointsnpoles4640 Awesome! Thank you so much!! I’ve been doing some reading today and apparently there was a few mounds around the Fenton-St. Louis County area, so Im gonna try hunting the Meramec. I’ve located a few spots on OnX but we’ll see how they pan out and if I can get to them or not. Might have to find a creek off of it or something, excited to figure it out though I’ll be here today and tomorrow. There’s also a spot where the Missouri meets the Mississippi that seems potentially interesting to me to
