    Thanks - that's quite a nice bunch of relics. I particularly like showing the relic and telling the culture that it is from.

      It's hard to find full nice points because of that but it definitely helps knowing there was plenty of material. Thanks for watching.

    Wow Buddy, what an Amazing bunch of artifacts, I love the material y’all found, heck of a collection my friend, you find more artifacts in one upload than I do in two years and I know because they’re all in one upload doesn’t mean it was all one hunt, I know the effort that is put into this and personally for me there’s not a greater feeling in the world when the effort pays off, Thanks For Sharing, GL&HH!!!👊🏹

      Thank you! Yea rarely do I find enough for a good video in one trip....usually it's between 2-4 trips ( 2 weekends) before I make a video as long as I'm blessed enough to find something. Appreciate you watching. I've only been hunting points for like a year and a half and it's completely addicting.

    They must’ve found dying grounds for discarded incalculably important tools lmao I found an arrowhead once in the prairies. Never in a creek bed. Petrified bones and wood but nothing handcrafted like this...

    You found 3 larger points in one video than we have in two years of hunting! We have probably found over 6-7 hundred points and evidently here in East Tennessee the material they had to work with wasn’t that big. I’d probably stroke out if we found something that big😂😅 Good video 👍👍👍

    • @pointsnpoles4640
      @pointsnpoles4640  Рік тому +1

      All these hills around here are Chert Deposits so they literally had and endless supply of material....It's a Double edged sword tho..since most of the creeks are full of rock it seems the smaller points don't survive the tumbling...most of our better points are either just downstream of where they fall out of the bank or in the feeders that run into the main creeks and or rivers. Thanks for watching and good luck out there!

      @@pointsnpoles4640 I definitely wish it was possible to find that caliber of point here. It would definitely put a little more pep in my step for sure. Most points here are 1-2 inches long. You don’t know how lucky you are to find those monsters 👍👍👍

      Honestly I don't know too much....just the ones from the arrowhead i.d. book I got.. it's called the Overstreet guide to Arrowheads. I think I got like the 15th edition. Is it the one in your picture there? If is they would call that a Madison around this area of the Midwest/South

    I have been rock hunting here in southern Illinois for almost 25yrs (almost daily when i was younger lol) but i have only found 2 points that were over 4" with the average point being about 2-2.5". Most of the points found in this area are on the smaller side because there aren't many (if any) natural flint sources for at least 50mi in any direction so most points are used until they are completely worn down to a nub! The only good thing about the flint having to be imported is the wide variety of materials that can be found, ive found everything from a Thebes made out of Kaolin to a Clovis made out of Burlington so thats pretty sweet i guess lol. Don't get me wrong although rare big points can be found here, for example one of the biggest known "Early Ovoid knives" was found in my area (Jefferson county Il) it measures 9.75" and i believe its made out of Burlington chert. My biggest point is a 4.75" Stanfield knife with my second being a "Early Ovoid knife" that is just about 4.5", thanks for the video bro! I appreciate the content. Sorry for the ridiculously long comment, i just love rocks 😂😂😂😂

      Don't be sorry I appreciate any new information...I'm turning 36 on Friday and just got into artifacts a little over a year ago and it has completely taken over my free time and now has I guess become an addiction. I am currently trying to find some places to hunt in my area on the illinois side (Madison, Jersey, Pike counties) I'm directly across the river in Lincoln Co Missouri but I drive all over Central to North East Missouri to hunt .....illinois is definitely on my list.

      I know that feeling, I stepped on one of my biggest points that was barely covered up by sand, sadly I put a couple fresh nicks in the edge.
