This is a very interesting artistic exercise. I can't help but think about how a painting that focuses purely on texture, rather than color or shape, mirrors the way that ASMR is a sonic art form that prioritizes texture over, say, melody. Very cool.
It is interesting to see people come to the same conclusions that postmodern artists come to by themselves, when abstract post modern art is so disliked.

such a great artist, plenty of natural talent, but you can tell they put a lot of work into learning the technical skills. I look forward to seeing more work from this artist in the future.
Some people can’t really appreciate what or how a void is generated and/or explained; to them it’s completely UNAVOIDABLE!!! (I’ll see myself out now…)
Please make some more painting ones like this. I’ve been watching this for half an hour every night before bed to help me sleep for like the last three weeks and it never fails. Thanks for sharing it, and thanks for three weeks of blissful sleep!
*fancy art critic voice* Absolutely exquisite. I can definitely see the message you were trying to portray in this piece. It really captures the essence of societies pressures on the most oppressed classes in this hypothetical hierarchy. Well done.
I keep coming back to this video when I’m stressed or thinking about dark stuff. Before this it used to be your brain massaging video (I don’t remember the name) Thank you for all your amazing content throughout the years, and to the people that see this, have an amazing rest of your day.
This is just wonderful. I have severe anxiety and for some odd reason the concept of a void just brings peace to my soul. The idea of painting one brings me supreme peace and relaxation. Thank you rift. You are amazing.
I've been pulling myself through a lot recently and it's slowly getting better but your videos are one of the only releases from this stress I have found so far so thanks man. I'm not really much of an ASMR person but something about the way you talk about life and things is inspiring. I specifically like your recent walk in the rain and the video outside at night where u can hear the owls.
Yo, if you're interested in that, check Pierre Soulages. French artist that works on a concept called "Outrenoir" iirc. It's all about the texture if I were to grossly summarize it
You can criticise his work all you want, but at the end of the day, you simply have to concede to the Fact, that this is propably one of the Paintings ever made.
You have captured the Void I inhabit exactly. It is the masterly application of Ivory Black as it contrasts to Mars Black and evokes the Seven Hells of another viewing of "Miracle on 34th Street" this Season. Now I know I am not alone (well actually I am) in this Void. Thank you.
Idea for a video: The Void man. Sells little baggies or jars full of void particles (could be as simple as painting them black or could go above and beyond and use black sand) while explaining the dangers and uses of said particles.
I have to be honest, I really like it in the 93rd void of the 36th quadrant of the 82nd parallel, located in the 21st dimension of the 78th universe, inside the 2nd multiverse, right on past Linda's Laundromat. There is no place quite like it
So i put this on, to sleep woke up at bout the 40min mark, and wow The void is turning out great! Never thought someone could capture it .... .. One of my now favorite ASMR vids ...

54:31 This is an amazing work of art. The further he drew, the more clearly I saw the silhouette of a group of people with spears on a ship. Maybe they are Greek soldiers. At the bow of the ship stands a man with a long manuscript, the ends of which go into the water. Souls fly over the ship, so it could be the waters of the Styx. This is also hinted at by the unusual texture of the water - like hands reaching out to people. The whole scene in the next minutes disappears into the Void. In the last frames of the video, we can observe the silhouette of a human face in profile. Perhaps this is Charon, watching the daring trick of the soldiers from the shore. As expected, he did not interfere and just watched what was happening. Again, a beautiful work of art. It seems to me that the longer I look at this picture, the more it begins to peer into me.
It was really nice to see the 93rd void of the 36th Quadri quadrant of the 82nd parallel in the 21st dimension of the 78th universe in the 2nd multiverse past Linda's Laundromat AKA "Zack the Void" in such detail than ever before!
I can tell that this guy has had some serious training in painting. Who would have ever thought that you could do so much with just ivory black and mars black !
Ok, I had my doubts at first but now I'm absolutely positive that Uncle Rift is in fact Lord Sheogorath himself. It's an honor to finally meet you, my Lord.
You have to appreciate the talent on display on even the subtler levels you wouldn't think to look for. When he said he was going to do the base in Ivory Black instead of Mars Black I felt that was a mistake, and I still felt that way even after he finished the base coat and comparing it to the void. Then as he built up the details and blending of just the two base colors I realized what affect he was going for and why he chose that basecoat. A humbling reminder that when an expert says something counterintuitive there is usually a good reason for it.
i like to think, for any void we do not have any communication with outright, you can just *feel* what the void likes and is as a person (you get the feeling of what their hobbies are in a way)
Hello Mr. Rift..,. Incredible ! The depth of your talent is unmatched . I actually got chills when you mix the two blacks to perfection . You can feel the different dimensions of this void . Not once did I see Mr. Riff refer to the void he was painting . Based on memory . Working his personal touch to this masterpiece shows unparallel perception . I hope Mr. Riff paints my personal favorite next...... "Dark Energy". Painting "Dark Energy " maybe the most challenging of all paintings . Excellent work !
“Maturity, one discovers, has everything to do with the acceptance of ‘not knowing.” The void, a lack of light, mass, energy, a place whose very existence cannot be known or understood, must therefore be an excellent place in which philosophical questions can be mused.
