Those old 240s were great cars! Glad to see them getting the appreciation they deserve
I agree with you!! 😉
@@SST11B yesssss!!!
@@SST11B the one Im building for my wife on my channel is a 72 also I think.
Too bad you can’t find them for cheap anymore 😢🤣
@@Krulgrafix 😂 I found one for $300 bought it, Im building it now on my channel for my wife. It needs alotttt of love though!!
Hello Mr. Collins,
I am a subscriber from Ethiopia and those cars are still a daily driver in Ethiopia. Thank you for bringing quality content as usual.
Leave it to Dennis Collins to find a very unique car all the way from Africa. Always the gentleman to everyone around him. My younger brother had a Honda Trail 90 back when he was in his early teens. Who knew?
just a sweet ride
Find? I think you mean answering emails and phone calls
Original Z cars(mostly)with original owners are a rarity now. I bought mine 9/24/71, a blue (903) with black interior. Now has 44,000 miles on it and is still in pristine condition. It will go to my son when I pass. Exceptional cars, strong except for the bodies, and very easy to work on. I've raced one since 1986 in SCCA.
You have great taste in cars if you love the Zs. Im building one now for my wife on my youtube channel!!
I’m 1982 when I turned 20 I almost bought a blue 1971 240Z. I bought a motorcycle instead and that bike tried to kill my wife. The Z needed a new clutch and I did not want to buy a project. I regret that decision.
My dad's first car? A 240z. My first car? A 280z. He totalled both of them. And no, we don't speak.
Dennis You ARE THE Man !! Giving your guys those bikes was just to cool ! Love Ya !! Mean It !!!!
Dennis in 1972 Asmara was part of ethiopia, now its Eritrea...no wonder I never saw this car growing up there
My buddy had a 1970 240 and we had a blast in that car. I've always loved them. This is an amazing find in amazing condition. Well done!!!
They are very hard to find in great condition lol, ask me how I know? 😂
Man now that is a rare find Dennis. It's in pristine condition... I really want to see the outcome
Yessss!!!!
I have a Uncle that was stationed in Ethiopia in the early 70's (Army), they may have known each other!
Thnx for the video Dennis!!
Another amazing find! The backstories on the cars are sometimes more interesting than the car itself.
And that food look excellent, and the background music was perfect!
What a beautiful Z! Great story behind it and the bike, dude must have had a blast in Ethiopia as a young man, love it.
Beautiful Z indeed Frank!!!!
Asmara in Eritea is beautiful. There were many American servicemen in Eritrea then. it would be amazing to see a picture of the Z there then.
Youll find alot of these iconic JDMs in Africa and the middle east
@@YasinVanDoorsen Very true!
Dennis the Cardealer was in Asmara/ Ethiopia.
But the City Asmara belong to Eritrea now.Back then it was a part of the Kingdom Ethiopia.
The Region ist Northeast Afrika in the Redsea .
Coffee Walk is everywhere 🙌🏽
I figured as much. Probably stationed at Kagnew Station. I was there in 72. Lots of neat cars there and lots and lots of M/Cs. I had an old Fiat Topolino. This veh most likely shipped into and out of Massawa which is, like you said, on the Red Sea.
back in the 70's all a/c was factory units but installed by dealer, I worked for a Datsun dealer in 1976
I learned to drive a stick, in a 78 280Z. My first bike, @ 16, was a Kawasaki 2 Stroke "Widow Maker".
So when Dennis asks you “what’s your favorite local restaurant?” & doesn’t like your answer, he’ll give you one more chance for you to satisfy his picky pallet. When he doesn’t like your 2nd favorite choice he’ll give up on you by not inviting you.
Then he’ll lie & say “It was recommended we go to Hurtados.”
The evolution to this channel is why I keep watching.
What makes this company so successful is everybody LOVES to work there. I know they work hard to make it work, but they have equal fun time, and I mean FUN, FUN, FUN. You couldn't run the employees off with a stick. Dennis you are the WIZARD behind all this. Love the videos, keep them coming and several a week if possible. Show us some of the stages of restoring one of the Shelbys, a time frame from start to finish please. thanks.
Outstanding Friday of Course with Dennis and Crew!! God Bless America 🇺🇸
Awesome! thanks very much for sharing with us!
I hope you and your dear families have a wonderful weekend!!
The red Kawasaki 100, looks like the 1971 G4TR that I had years ago. It had a high and low gearing.
What an awesome story and history! I don't know if I could ever part with a car I'd had for 50 yrs, and what a car it is. Great episode, thanks 🙂
I love how you NEVER talk them down in their prices. Your a GREAT guy Dennis! 🤙🏼😁 Love watching your show. You guys do a fantastic job at what y’all do. 👌🏼
Real nice catch on all three of those beauties and I came here for the great grub at the end too. 👍
Hi there, we are in New-Zealand and love this show of Dennis and the guys, unfortunately down here we have limited collectable mint cars, great work guys !!
Fridays = coffewalk on My little plot of Denmark 🇩🇰🚗☕
Thank You, Sir! I was so amazed by this video. I am from Ethiopia and live in Texas as well. It was very unusual to find such a solid car with long solid history! It is Real Coffee walk.
First time I saw a Datsun 240Z was when one came around a corner I was standing on in Staines, Middlesex, UK. It turned that corner like it was on rails. That was 1972 and I was 12 years old. I fell in love with that car then but have never had the opportunity to own one and now the prices are just going up and up. Beautiful. Please show us what happens in the restoration and when it’s completed.
Paul, Im a fellow viewer and love Dennis youtube channel. Im building a 240z for my wife on my youtube channel if you care to check it out!
I also own a 1973 240z that is stock, been in the garage since 1996 with about 171K on it. It is more of the beater version than this one Dennis found. You know, driven hard put away wet. I am in the process of upgrading it, had to wait till retirement to do so, time and money is what it takes. Good find and story, thanks for sharing. Go Z!!!!!
I have a 71. Can i ask... Your head.. is the cast E88 ?
These bikes are incredible. Nice find
And don't get me wrong, the car is beautiful as well, I just love '70s bikes
Dennis Collins is the ultimate finder of classic muscle and rare automobiles . Love the color of the Datsun.
I love these rescue vlogs! I watched this today and heard that same song on the radio today at work that was playing in the background while ya'll was eating. If you like peanut coladas, or gettin caught in the rain!!
A very unique story and car. I always like the Datsun Z cars back in the day. I lived in a GM town so anybody wanting to drive anything from Japan was frowned upon but that didn't change the fact that I love the look of that car and finally got to drive one in 1980. Very cool car.
I've been watching your channel for a time now first time I've seen Zach the cameraman.
You've introduced him numerous times but this is the first time I've see his face. He does a fine job behind the camera.
The color on the 240 is OUTSTANDING!
You never cease to amaze me,,,Sir Dennis Collins.... thanks 😎
OMG! Love that Z! I had a 240Z that was an early first year car. The number on it was 1995! Would love to get another one
BTW, if you need front brakes, you can use Toyota 81-85 truck calipers! It will give you two piston calipers and they bolt up! You only have to trim a little bit of the heat shield for the bigger caliper body, and they work a lot better than stock!
Wow really cool find. I love seeing those cars on the road. Those bikes are really sick too! 👍👍🔥🔥
Hoping to get my wifes 240z back on the road soon 😬😬😬
Wow Dennis another amazing find! Back in 1978 the local Datsun dealer had a brand new T top 280Z in a copper metallic that was something like $8,000 dollars back then! Doesn't seem like a lot now but back then I worked in a restaurant and only made maybe $4.50 an hour. So it was way out of my budget but from time to time I still think about how cool that car was! One of a few dream cars that I was not able to get back in the day. It is really cool of you to let your Guys have the option on the motorcycles rather than just doing a quick flip for the profit on them. You are unusual because you do the nice things for the people around you!
No T top 280Z made in 1978. First T top made was in 1979 as a 280ZX.
@@raydevito6523 It was the year I was 19 probably Sept. or Oct. of 78 when I saw the car brand new at the local Datsun dealership.
@@kickit59 1979 cars used to be available in late Sept. 1978.
@@raydevito6523 So it must of been a 79! I remember it was one awesome car. One of the five or so car regrets I have had by not being able to buy it. Today I want a new Mach 1 but I have a Parnelli Jones Mustang with 12K miles that is as perfect as a 12K miles car can be. So it makes no sense but every day I drive by the Ford dealer I see that Fighter Grey Mach 1 and I am tempted!
@@kickit59 Same here. I love cars too. I sold my 1977 280 Z ( Dack green ) in 1985. That was a mistake. But still owned a black Conv. 1993 Mustang GT with 25000 miles and a few more. Not many Parnelli Jones Mustangs in Canada.
God bless you Alex & Zach for putting up with him.
That car looks new!The food looks good!
I drove my boss's 260Z and it was a BLAST! It had adjustable suspension and a cassette player. That was when I was introduced to Pat Benatar. 1977-78
My Dad had a '70 G4 Kawasaki 10 spd! it was awesome! Wish I could find another one, lots of memories when I saw that one! I also had 2 "74 260Z's, not as favorable as the 240's but still fun!
Wish I would have kept them..... Dennis, let me know if the 100cc G4 Kawasaki comes up for sale!
Hey Dennis;
I was in the Army at that time , also was stationed in Texas (circa.1972/73) at Fort zsam Houston Brooke Army medical center as a Medicare trainee
and my company commander had a beautiful lime green 240z which was always eye candy to me. Great presentation always !! Dennis ! I try not to miss
any of your videos but your food stops are murder for me controlling my diet !!.
All I can say is that you absolutely hit the jackpot with the Z! I’ve been looking for a fixer upper but can’t find nothing that isn’t a bucket of rust and over priced! My first two cars were Z’s 260Z and a 280zx. Loved both of them! Congrats!
Sheltdog, lol I must have bought one like the ones youve looked at lol. Building my wife a 240z right now on my channel.
Denis is a gent. What a lovely interaction. Selling something so personal is like putting down your dog. Dennis gets it with this other man who loves cars.
This has to be one of the coolest cars with an awesome story and looks amazing
I agree Chad!!!
Is this a dream?
Dennis finding one of my favourite cars! 👌
Wow! Looks pristine to me. At least on video. Great find with great history!
Great find !! I absolutely love the old 240’s especially that color !! Outstanding !! And killer find on the Kawasaki’s
You have great taste loving the old 240z's. Im building one for my wife right now.
Always enjoy my Saturday mornings having breakfast and watching Coffee Walk.
I'm literally drooling over the 240. Glad to know it's in good hands.
Jason you have great taste!!! Im building a 240z on my channel for my wife that was in rough shape if you care to check it out!
@@DustyMacsGarage right on I just skimmed through your content and now subscribed! I've already had a love for the Z family. The only one I ever owned was an 86 300zx. But you just can't go wrong with a 240 or 280z.
@@jasonrogers8754 sweet!!!! I never owned that model 300zx but I did have a mid 90s Twin Turbo 300zx. I love em all!!!
@@DustyMacsGarage yeah the ole Fairlady Z's. They are all iconic.
What an amazing find. You guys have a nack for this stuff. Pleasure to watch. Thanks to all for the hard work and epic camera and editing work Zack. God bless you boys.
I'm 75 yo, and i had one just like it, mine was Hunter Green, but no AC. they were a rust bucket but I'm in Canada . Cool Dennis hope to see it running
Thanks Dennis! I had a KE 125 until I got a 73 240Z in 1982. I loved both and would love to have them again.
FYI @Dennis Collins, I used to spray Imron. One of it's characteristics is that it is glossiest as sprayed. If you try to cut and buff Imron, it is never as wet looking as it was before buffing. The rule of thumb was if you messed up the paint job somehow, (run, orange peel, dry spray, etc) sand it back and re-spray. Awesome paint otherwise except the isocyanates in the hardener were/are deadly. Probably the first paint that could kill a painter.
Great video. Your lunch scene made me hungra.. Time to go make dinner.
I had a 65 Mustang painted in red Imron back in the late 70's.
Dennis was right, it was called fleet paint, because it was used on buses, airplanes, trucks...the stuff was tough! I was told that you couldn't cut n buff Imron paint, but I did it and it looked awesome.
The Z had an amazing back story too.
Paint then was better and thicker lasted much longer. The water based paint these days is crap.
Back in 1972 some alumni of Knox College in Galesburg, IL where I was a student doing photojournalism for the school donated a harness horse racetrack to the school and sent me there to photograph it. When I arrived I discovered the parking lot was filled with new 240Zs, at least 100 of them. The track wasn’t in use and the parking lot had been rented out for car storage. It was a awesome sight your video brought to mind.
Great fan there Dennis very clean 240Z your two guys I'm sure they highly appreciate those motorbikes as always Dennis you take care of you guys that's why you keep going forward in life you got to give back take care
12:20 min - Hope you kept that! Loved everything about this video.👍
Cool. I learn something with every episode. Very interesting. Thanks Dennis.
Amazing!.
I am in Kenya and own a 1976 Toyota Corolla ke25 coupé in great condition, happy to see a car from its generation overseas with its roots in Ethiopia (which boarders Kenya).
Great content!.
New subscriber.
Dennis ya have found. Gold mine buy Datsun 240 n old classic bikes too. Wow ya never know what ya can find with great old school men here. Many memories being shown here. Da Datsun 240 z. Brings me back to middle school days seeing them going down da road . Da 260, da 280, da 270, oh da 300 z. Well ya get da point here am screaming right , lol good times.
Thank you for your service sir.. Love the z and the bikes
Nice find, FYI series 1 was from 69(Japan)-mid 71.
An easy way to tell is there will be 2 vents on the hatch and 240Z badge on the C pillar.
Cheers!
i had a 70 when i was young. the displacement in those is phenomenal.
you just found a lump of gold in a coal mine...
I had a 72 Kawasaki G4E 100cc growing up as a kid that my dad and I turned into a dirt bike and the 100cc you bought reminds me of it! Now I want one again! Awesome video Dennis
I love the updates of cars and stuff you get. Please do more of that.
I had the same color ‘71 240z, great car and at 6’6” the legroom was amazing. Still one of the funnest cars I ever owned and working on it was a breeze.
Sweet!!! Z cars are great!!!!!
Great video.
I’m not a big sports car fan but I do like the 240 Z’s.they were around when I was a teenager.
I also like triumph TR 6’s and Triumph motorcycles.
That 240 Z is a fantastic find.
when you were playing around with the peppers, the top of my head started to sweat like crazy!!!! lol
11.49 - naughty Dennis not knowing Ethiopia is more than a fair distance away from South Africa lol
First thank you to the gentleman for his service to the country and I can just imagine the stories of driving this car his young wife him being in the military this gentleman has lived the American dream
just bought a 1975 280z looks all original even paint. will be here end of week fingers crossed
Can we take a moment and talk about how cool Alex is? " Alex, are you here?" " Maybe". He is a man of few words. Ha!!
Well what can I say, you are a champion sir, that car is the bomb, a Z car is the go, loved them when I was a kid. Keep it up team❤️
Another great video, with a really great back story. Those bikes were cool too. Thanks for entertaining us
While in Arlington did stop at the Hill's residence? Hank likes to hang out in the alley and drink with his buddies.
Anyways a great story like most you show. Thank you for sharing.
Had a couple of KE175s as a teen back in the early 80s. Cool find, love the Z as well. Love this channel and love everything you find! Im based in the UK, so always watch this before I have eaten, licking my lips lol.
I have a ton of guys following my 240z build from the UK thats sweet. The Zs are very loved in that area!!
Love the vlogs with great music from the 70’s 🇺🇸😎👍🏻🦅
Hurtado's is fantastic and you need to go through the Alley right now to get there. There is one over in Little Elm now so a little closer to you.
WOW!!!!!!! Back in the mid to late 80's when I was in my late teens, one of my friends had a 240Z. It's a good thing that cars can't talk. 🙈🙉🙊😎
Love the old Datsuns. Back in Australia a long time ago my father had a 240K. Same 2.4 6 cylinder engine in a different 2 door body with a 4 speed.
Dennis Collins is so lucky to be able to buy these cars.
I love the Kawasakis. My first bike, back in 77 was a G5E. Such a great find.
Japanese craftsmanship is absolute
Absolutely the best
Drove a Fairlady Z while serving in Yokosuka, Japan in 1980s. What a fun car!
Kawasaki KV100, what an outstanding find. 100cc two stroke, they had a high/low gearbox making it a ten speed. it was my first bike and I went everywhere on it. It came without the muffler in the exhaust pipe so I designed one when I was in class in highschool only to find out I designed what was already available....
Would love to see the progress you make on this one I had a 72 I bought back in 74 absolutely loved that car had it for years
Great car and beautiful!!!
I owned a '71 240Z with factory air. It was my all time favorite ride.
Kudos Dennis, you now officially have 1 up on Richard Rawlings 👏 as he hasn't found his holy grail 240Z.
And there was a General Lee in the background!
Those cars have been modded in every form to include a Small block Chevy V8! Great to see a stock platform still exists!
My father was stationed in Asmara in 1972, I was 5 or 6 when we lived there. I'll have to check the family photo album and see if I have any pics of the car. They used to have a race around the city, I wonder if he raced this car in it. We left our early 70s Bronco over there when we left. Would sure like to have that now.
Well Dennis! Who would have thought finding a 240 Z from Africa and two cool Motorcycles. Only Dennis! That's who! Looking forward to the catch up videos. A whole show of that would be Fantastic! Richard Rowlands has still got alot of catching up himself. After the 'Original' Gas Monkey show. Dennis has leaped way of head. With his UA-cam Channel. I like Richard's show. But Dennis's is the Best! Congratulations Dennis and team. Great job! Keeping coming. Winter is not far off. We will need the entertainment. We may be broke and freezing. But we will have Dennis's videos to watch! Shawn
That was a very cool coffee walk Dennis it's pretty wild the car came from Ethiopia and bite one of the bikes too you all look like you really enjoyed it keep up the good work fellows
modern day eritrea
No idea what u are saying as a reply to my comment
I have had a few Z cars. Last one was a 77 280 and I sold it to a gentleman in Japan . Was a Canadian car that spent it’s whole like here until it went back “ home “
I happen to have a set of 4 OEM hubcaps in excellent condition 😊
The 240Z is a brilliant car, remember driving one around for a while silver manual 100% original besides full sports exhaust system & tune, the sound inside for an inline 6cyl was incredible with multiple carbies & tucked down in those seats ,dash gauges etc felt like you were doen 100mph sitting still. With a engine that went forever loved to rev I'd do anything to own that car today. To find a 1 owner 240Z with super low kms in that condition it'd have to be if not best globally.Congrats Dennis on a rare rare rare time machine.👍🇭🇲
You have great taste, 240zs are beautiful. Building one on my channel for my wife as we speak.
Always fun to watch you, Dennis, and the gang. You are the consummate gentleman. Thank you!
I have a green and black 1975 Kawasaki FR175 sitting in my storage unit fully restored. Fun two stroke to ride around on.
Just found this older clip of you Dennis. With you buying all these REALLY expensive cars... I didn't think something like the 240Z and 260Z would be of interest.
By coincidence I google searched 260Z and 280Z because years ago. I owned a 1981 280Z 2+2 myself. (It was a stick as well-no automatic)That car was so MUCH fun. That long hood and classic style lines. Cars of that era had a ' style ' of their own. It LOOKED like a Sports car.
Looked yellow when you walked up on it, as soon as the car came out of the garage you could see the lime green color. Awesome find.
My first car was a 240z. I almost bought one when I was visiting galveston about 10 years ago. Perfect runner with new paint, 8k. It is a 30 to 40k car now
if i get to win in the lottery, i gonna buy dat 240z 😅✌️.. im a fan of u dennis take care, regards to big R... more episodes to u both i always watch u guys
