I don't know if it's a Patreon member paying for these Big Wreck reviews, but I appreciate them and you for shining a little light on this extremely underrated band.
Thanks for the reaction! It was a nice surprise. Lots of interesting variety on their new "7.1" and "7.2" releases. If you want a super chill vibe, check out "Rye Bread". It's almost like Jimmy Buffet and Ry Cooder made a song together with Big Wreck 😀. Ian can sing powerfully as anyone, but he does the "smooth and smoky" so well too. His slide playing is magical as well.
Love the reaction videos David, your musical take on such a wide variety of bands is fascinating to watch. reference the Delay issue, I watched an interview with Ian Thornley where he mentioned specifically that for the Suhr Concert the band flew down and were using mostly gear provided by Suhr, since it was a single show and not a tour. Could explain the problem maybe? also if you want a dope new big wreck song - Fear and Cowardice. cool modulation, sick solo.
I don't know why people keep requesting these old bigbwreck songs to u but please do bombs away or any of there new stuff. Ian thornley is a monster on vocals and guitar and has alot of great songs that I know u will dig.
Current/latest Big Wreck just released. Live footage synched to the actual recording. This is kinda simple structurally for Big Wreck but it's got something MASSIVE about it! ua-cam.com/video/loKmYpA2qfA/v-deo.html
Good review. When I first heard this band some 20 years ago I actually thought it was Chris Cornell. Come to find out a few members actually toured with Chris so there is a connection. Followed big rack for many years their hits are fantastic they're deeper cuts are fantastic the in between suck. Love to see him in concert though I think they only tore in Canada.
Very astute observation on that delay pattern. Live, one-off show at the Suhr Factory. On the original recording that part is a banjo. Always some compromise live. On the early tours Brian used to play it with a banjitar? Even on the original recording the pattern is a bit halting... it makes you lean in... and then it grabs you. I always thought that riff owed it's lineage to Clapton's Crossroads somehow, but I am not a musician so I cannot dissect it. Here is the original.... ua-cam.com/video/zsco84fcwj4/v-deo.html

Totally agree. I saw these guys opening for a few bands at a festival and they blew the headliners out of the water.

Definitely high proportion of 40something Canadians on this Patreon list - I’m digging it! No other reactor doing this stuff!

Yeah. Get a load of what Dave is playing! I've heard Ian with other excellent bassists, but him and Dave just have that chemistry.
I didn't even notice the delay was off 😁. I enjoyed this a lot, I think I will check out more from these guys. I'd give it a solid 7.5
