Backshed.net.au Welcome back people hope New year and Australia day were good to you. The cruiser is 1 step closer ! Talk to you soon in the comments.🍺🍺
Brilliant video, fixing all the little niggly bits is painful ,but the old girl deserves another lease on life . Ive got one of those one man bleeders brilliant little tool to have.
@backshed5295 look forward to that one coming up again Mick. Trucks doing well looking for a sports bar now so I can put a heap of lights on it and a gun rack and go full red neck 😀
Mammoth effort Mick. I was riveted and watched it one go! When I owned an HJ I went back to those original pizza cutter tyres. Steering was so light and the places I took it... The sides of the tyres were like paddles
This would have to be one of the very few channels I watch from end to end with no skipping the middle! Awesome job Michael well done mate and keep up the great resto projects. PS fill your merch up again 🙂
with the split rims on safety I have also seen on YT a guy put a ratchet strap around it not tight just enough to keep it safe as well it worked a treat
Bloody loved it! Never skip any of your video's. I miss banging around out bush in one of those old beasts. Good to see you using the correct alignment tool for that steering arm! Cheers!
Thanks for another great video. I see you as a good representation of a typical Aussie backyard mechanic. My mates and I were very similar just with more beers and less work getting done. Keep up the good work, looking forward to the next one.
Hey uncle Mick. At the 1:39 minute mark. You might see threaded holes in the drum. You can use a bolt to thread in and it will push the drum off the axle flange. Saves some swearing. 😀🔧🎸
Love ya work and the Chanel mate Those tie rod ends on the drag link are actually adjustable to get rid of the play in them, take the split pin in the end out and turn the end in with a big screw driver or pry bar! Grease them up and you’re good to go
@ yeah it definitely will to a certain extent depending how long they’ve been driven on loose. The adjuster drives the two cups in the joint together around the ball and has a spring in there to keep tension on it Keep an eye on the new ones I wouldn’t be surprised if before long they had a bit of play, when I install them I always adjust them up a bit from factory
Someone’s gunna be getting around in a smick H series. The wheels look pretty good too. It’s not often that I can watch a 2 hour plus video in one sitting, so good Mick 👍🏾🇦🇺
Don’t hold me to it but from memory, the ball joints on the pitman arm, if you take the spilt pin out of the end, you can screw the end cap in to tighten up the slop on the ball but if really worn, it will not hold tight for long.
Some awesome content mate! Easy one of my favourite channels, keep up all the amazing effort. Got to mention the absolutely beautiful shots of the country side at the end of the video. Everything is so green, How much rain have you been getting?
Excellent episode mate, very informative..Every episode is my new favourite.Get yourself a vacume brake bleeder, life changing when doing brakes on your own
Hey uncle mick. At the 15:47 mark. If you look close at the big slot end you’ll see a cotter pin. If ya pop out the cotter pin the slot rotates on a thread and will tighten / adjust the ball style joint. Give it a whirl. I first saw it on a ‘65 Nissan G60 patrol.
Mick, the nut, spring and piston which you removed from the oil filter mount is the oil filter relief valve, if the filter becomes blocked for any reason oil pressure will push the piston back so the engine will continue to get oil. 2 The oil gauge is slow to react because it runs through a resistor to smooth out the voltage to protect the gauge, 3 The rear drum has a two holes in them where bolts can be inserted to pull the drum off without having to lever them off from the rear. Next to the large screw you removed you can see one of the holes in the video, also if you grind down the lip on the drum before you put the drum back on it can save you misery it you have to slide the drum back off for some reason, Hope this info is useful.
The letter at the start signifies the engine type; FJ45 was 2F petrol, the HJ45 had the 2H. The factory turbo charged version of the the 2H if I recall was the 12HT.
The ol Ute has come together nicely. I like the look of the 235/85/16’s over the big dogs, not sure why. BCI wheels in Victoria have a 16x7 that looks like a splitty, but they are a bit pricey 🇦🇺🤙🏼
Great to see you again Mick, happy "post 'Straya day" to you and your Magpie mate. The old 'Yota looks right at home out there running about those Upper Hunter country roads.
