Met a bartender who played 🏈 for a top university. Told me they were taking horse steroids in the 50’s. This was back in the 70’s he spent a great deal of time steering me away from them. Grateful for his time. He looked like a cautionary tale. And yea. It pisses me off that the VA won’t allow this 65 yr. old combat veteran to take something as simple as proviron. Yep. I’ve done a lot of research.

    Wenning and Tate... yes please.
Also, speaking of steroids in Nazi germany-hitler was getting test shots to help with “performance”-but there was no PCT and apparently no understanding of esters, so it might be said that his doctor helped the allies win by making hitler bounce from aggressive to weak and emotional (along with all the other shit he was giving him).

Take nothing away from him but I wouldn't be surprised if Hank Aaron was on stuff, the most consistent HR hitter of all time.

These kinds of conversations is why I don't care about the use of PEDs in today's sports. No one knew concretely who was using what unless an athlete came out and said it before the mid 90s, maybe even after that. If I recall quite a few Pittsburgh Steelers lineman have said they took steroids in the 70s. The whole steroid conversation flipped when Lyle Alzado admitted it, saying he cheated when there weren't rules in place to tell him that he couldn't. I don't recall hearing about people giving a shit about PED use, specifically steroids, in sports before Alazdo's Sports Illustrated issue. Then there's the fact that the banned substance list only really gets bigger over time and/or the use of legal and unbanned drugs for performance enhancement. I played baseball in high school 20 years ago with dudes who popped 6-8 advil or tylenol pills before pitching in a game. If that's not PED use, I don't know what is.

The battle against steroids didn't really exist until the war on every other drug. Then it was framed as a moral falling, which is why Alzado was every damned where when he came clean. He also blamed his cancer on the steroids, so it played real well with the puritanical church marm types.

the nazi stack of test' and meth wasn't a super effective combination for them in the long run.

There’s actually no evidence the Nazis used testosterone on their troops. They sure did use an early version of meth called Pervitin.
