Whaat, North York is in no way a suburb, it's the city of Toronto. Thornhill is a suburb, or Pickering. I'm at young and shepp and I virtually never go south of the 401, my entire life is in North York and the York region.
Yonge and Shep is nice! Love the food options. It's funny I know where you're coming - strange thing is when you search on google it states that its considered a suburb of Toronto. But ya I know what you mean..
North York is a good option because it's super close to downtown but it doesn't have the insane prices and noise found in downtown. My personal favourite area of North York back when I used to live there was North York Centre. There are tons of businesses nearby, it's quite walkable and it's 20 mins away by subway from downtown.
I'll have to visit North York Centre - thanks! I know there's a bunch of great food options nearby there. Still getting familiar with the area but ya loving it so far
how was your social life downtown compared to north york? i want to move downtown only to meet new people since i live in an area full of elderly folks.
I lived in Toronto for 2 years..... and you're going to be lonely!! People are as cold as their weather in winter... girls have cold hearts. After that I moved to LA and in just 2-3 weeks I made a lot of friends and had a girlfriend!!
I live in Markham, living downtown Toronto is overrated. Nice to go downtown sometimes but too busy and too much going on. North York especially Yonge/Sheppard area is a nice area!
Thanks for the mention! I hadn't really considered its (North York's) relative location to everything else in the GTA to be a factor, but it makes a lot of sense. There is a joke saying (paraphrasing): "In Toronto, you're always 1hr away from Toronto." We also joke about Waterloo/Kitchener and then London (where I'm from) becoming a part of the GTA someday.
Oh yes recently coming back I love how there's barely any snow in Toronto (when it does it basically melts in the next days). Some cold air days but nothing compared to Winnipeg winters :P
Looks like you live near the subway line. The further you are from Yonge, the more car dependant you become. You realize it when you really want to bike more often.
heres a list of dense vibrant walkable neighbourhoods close to streetcars and subways that you can live in without needing a car in Toronto: St Clair west, Little Italy, Greektown, The beaches, Queen West, Midtown, UpTown, High Park, Korea Town, Korea Town North, Liberty Village, Little Portugal, Roncesvalles, Cabbage Town, China town east, Riverdale, Mount pleasant, the list goes on but these are my fav.
i wanna go abroad Canada and live in North york, but my cousins say this place is dangerouse because of social evils like shooting. i know that it's just objective opinion but i am still a little nervous as the opinion is from my cousins
North York is still considered Toronto (part of the 6 boroughs) and not GTA, but its at the border. North York is not your typical suburb, It's a node on the subway line that feels like its own downtown (referred to as uptown Toronto), it has more skyscrapers than even cities like London, or hamilton, its connected to the subway line and Go transit, and theres more amenities than any typical suburbs in north america, its also walkable. This is a great location for anyone who wants convenience but doesn't want to pay for downtown prices. People in north york often take the subway down to midtown Toronto (Yonge and Eglinton) for their downtown needs since midtown, another node on the subway line has movie theatres, shopping, bars, and more similar to downtown without having to take the train for another 20 mins.
Suburbs vs Downtown - which spot is your preference?
Suburbs ☺️
@@daniellebee9 Go suburbs!

@@anees.saeed33 Maybe not :P
the surburbs but close to downtown like york, east york, north york and etobicoke to live
North York sounds like a convenient space to live! The lower rent is also an appealing factor. Great video!
It’s a good well balance place I find - thanks Zack !

Pretty much the same - nowadays I just hang with the same friends from university.
@@FrankHuynh what about dating life? were you able to meet more girls/get more matches downtown?
I didn’t know North York was a suburb and I live in Toronto
Ya I had to Google this one to be sure lol. It’s a suburb of toronto but it’s borderline
Its not a suburb for us toronto natives.

Agreed! Downtown was convenient at the time but living in it all day gets draining. I like the balance up here. Also markham is great too. Cheers!
I stay in North York and still claim I live in Toronto 😂

No worries - thanks for the video idea! It's kinda true 1 hour in Toronto sometimes get you still in Toronto xD - all the best!
suburbs suck
oh no
North York is in the suburbs? Interesting…
It's an inner suburb of Toronto but yea many see it on the fence of things..
"Negative rent decrease"? Mathematically, that's means rent increase.
i forgot what i said lol u must be right sorry
could you please normalize your mic volume?
Oh didn’t know it was an issue - I’ll look into it, thanks!
Being from Winnipeg as well the climate of Toronto definately is appealing

Yonge and Sheppard was once downtown north york, so lots of stuff to do up there
