What I saw from Tyler, Trey, and Doak was great. I can't settle for where I want to see Elliot in this system. I admit not having a striker was obviously an issue, but it was an interesting watch.
Had a conversation yesterday with a few friends, and we came to the unanimous agreement that whilst we love Klopp and everything he did for our club, it was the right decision by Klopp. If we're more successful with Slot, it doesn't take away from Klopp, quite the opposite. It makes him look even better. The fact that he truly did do what he believed was best for the club means more than anything. About the decision, it was beginning to become very clear that Jurgen didn't have that vigour, energy, and passion quite the same anymore. He was becoming quite irritable and almost spiteful in a lot of his interviews, and that alone showed that he wasn't up to it anymore. You could tell he was out of ideas. Klopp's style is brilliant, but it's only sustainable for a period of 18 months maximum at the highest level before players run out of steam. His brilliance wasn't in tactics. In fact, he wasn't great at all tactically. His brilliance was in emotion, in momentum and atmosphere. He was a manager who could motivate his players enough to start a wave, and as long as that wave was full steam ahead, it was unstoppable. But when the water calmed, the tactical element was exposed a lot of the time. Phenomenal man who made us a top 10 club in the world again, and we all thank him for that. Now, with Slot, I hope that he can take that level and pay more attention to tactical details, to turn us into a team that can pick teams apart in multiple ways, not just with energy. A team that doesn't rely quite as much in emotion. This is exactly why City are so good under Pep, they can beat a team 5-0 riding a wave, battering the low block with a frenzied relentlessness like we could... BUT they can also beat a team 5-0 with no emotion behind them. With no push from the fans. They can slowly and methodically pick teams apart with no help from momentum. That was the underlying difference between the 2 sides over the years. We relied more on emotion, and no matter what you try, it's impossible to keep that same high atmosphere every single week. At some point, the team has to learn to dig it out with their own skill and intelligence. From a fairly thorough deep dive into Slots personality and coaching etc, I fully believe he's capable of making that alteration. I'm excited to see what type of performances he can get specifically from our more talented midfielders. Instead of being extremely rigid in the Klopp 3, Slot will look to allow the midfielders creative freedom. They won't be stuck to their exact role. This is why the whole 6 argument doesn't actually make a huge amount of sense. It isn't a straight-up 6 we'll need, just a midfielder. He doesn't play with a rigid 6. As an example, I studied a few of Feyenoords matches last season, and he'll play with 3 midfielders. 2 out and out midfielders that are more traditional and 1 "10" type, although they don't play as a 10 really. Those 3 midfielders DO NOT have a set position. None of them are the 6. They're extremely fluid and multi-skilled. Think of it as more of a 4-3-3, but instead of a 6 and two 8s, he plays with three 7s. They all muck in and do the 6 work, and they all have freedom on the ball to create and make runs. So for me, that is SUCH an exciting prospect when you think about the raw talent we have. Players like Szobo, Macca, Jones, Elliott, Gravenberch all let off the leash to play ball with expression. They were all told in the previous system that the system came first. Your responsibility to the system was always number 1. Szobo, Macca, Grav, Jones, Bajcetic, maybe even a surprise season for Nyoni, will all COOK if they're told to play with freedom!
There was enough in that performance to suggest that, with the addition of the internationals that are still to return, Liverpool will be a very different team to face than they had become over the last few seasons. Opposition sides that had 'worked us out' (whether that was true or not) will face a whole slew of new challenges. Top quality, experienced players (Macca and Jota for example) will, I hope and trust, quickly adapt their game and thrive.
Manchester United game versus ETH will be fascinating. Not full squads and starting 11s, but that makes it all the more intriguing. Come on the Reds! Come on Slot! YNWA!
i’m really excited, we can’t get a huge picture about slots playing style from one game but one point i saw a feyenoord fan make was that they pass the ball so quickly without overthinking it and we did that all game, my only one small criticism of klopps style was that at times players would stop on the ball and look for a pass for too long and it slowed the game down so much, we’d switch the ball from right to left but along the way every player would access all options before making the pass so by the time we switched it the other team had got into their positions, slots quick passing unlocks more space in games whip is what we’ve lacked in some games we’ve drawn or lost
I think this preseason would have been super important if we had all our main starters, but we dont. So I feel like this is a good chance to see what we are missing in the first team, and who we should loan out.
The backline was worrisome and looked exposed. Any other team would have opened us up. As always it took a Salah involvement to put us on the board. The youngsters looked good. There is more risky movement from backline moving forward play. I’m worried about the others that aren’t in training that need to be. They will show up closer to season start and not have a proper preseason. Overall it is a good start and important to get some playing time. We will only get better.
We really trying to make some drama from what Jones said? He just said this midfield control the ball more, people often forget they Klopps style was the counter press to use the counter press the opposition have to have the ball. It was never really about control unfortunately and somewhat ironically the year we won the season we pressed and pressed when. That didn't work we stayed patient and often played the opposition to death which led to so many late goals
He's 31 now, therefore a new dm is necessary. Having a good youth prospects are great but shouldnt be asked to carry the burden at such a young age to be a starter at every game.
@@christianosullivan994 I personally feel Bajcetic is more talented, but that injury has not really helped him. Morton, on the hand, you can see he’s been playing a lot of football. He just looks more ready, at this moment in time.
Good summary. However, do you know HOW MANY times you mentioned Jurgen as a pose to Arne (27 to 11)? Please be careful with that, give Arne Slot some time to establish himself...
Good point but I think you answered your problem there, because we haven't seen enough of slot so far it is easier to use other managers as comparisons, to describe Liverpool's style of play he mentions (Klopp, Pep, and Arteta)
i think we’ll keep morton at the club this year as a third choice dm, we have bajcetic who could be out again then other than that it just looks like we’re gonna have endo so keeping morton as a third choice is needed if we don’t sign a dm. Obviously mac allister can play there aswell but he’s so good in the 8 i’d rather him play there
Very interesting formation in buildup. Two players on either flank with the pivot in the middle and no striker. EDIT: Slot said postgame we won’t play two 10s in the season. Just had no 9s available tonight.
Curtir Jones is the representation of an overvalued academy player, if he wasn’t a scouse he would be out of the door already. In the biggest moments of the season he disappeared and added nothing to the team. We need a Kimmich not an average Jones.

So well written and I agree, exited for this campaign!
Though I was devastated when Klopp said he was going, it does feel fresh again now.

100 percent! Klopps style of play was being figured out by opposition. No disrespect on klopp btw
It is true that teams had figured us out such as low block and man-marking defensive style 😂

loan out nunez hopefully 😆
Slot 😍😍
very happy with that performance, arne ball is so refreshing

Sound like the inside right and out side old Herbert Chapman

Comments don’t have to be drama. The reaction is the drama, not the comment. It is worth acknowledging though.
Mccalister is the only player use to this style of play bcs of de zerbi , he’s our most important player this season
Morton did better than Bajcetic in that game. Morton should be starting ahead of Endo for now. That loan spell really did him a lot of good.
Idk why but endo become slower and slower from before 😅
He's 31 now, therefore a new dm is necessary. Having a good youth prospects are great but shouldnt be asked to carry the burden at such a young age to be a starter at every game.
@@GREGGFOWL weren’t we going to pay around 50 mil for a 19 year old Lavia to be a starter?

Still need an elite DM. Get Ederson from Atalanta.

Slot said he played with two number 10s only because we don’t have a striker in the squad. Nunez will play ahead of one ten (Dom or Harvey)
I think they will play more one to one passes in the midfield n attkin plays
Curtir Jones is the representation of an overvalued academy player, if he wasn’t a scouse he would be out of the door already. In the biggest moments of the season he disappeared and added nothing to the team. We need a Kimmich not an average Jones.
Slot said that this is not the system they will play with.
Why Curtis still at the club? Oh yeah I forgot he has a lifetime contract for simply being from the city
I observed that You repeat obviously again amd again.
Mannn if endo score his first goal for slot.. it would be amazingg!
Endo sucks
